Breathtaking views greet you the moment you step into the great room in the Shearwaterhouse. The west wall of windows offers a huge panoramic 180 degree sparkling water view from within the house. The upper main level offers an expansive vista of glinting ocean waves far out to the horizon. The Shearwaterhouse has everything in the right place, with a full sized and well stocked kitchen that has all the gadgets and conveniences of home. The dining table will seat 8, with 2 more at the bar, or if you prefer you can all troop out to the deck and enjoy your food hot off the grill at the outdoor table, and enjoy the view at the same time. For those days that are stormy or you just want to stay inside to chat and visit, the gas fireplace will keep you warm, and the microfiber beachy sectional sofa will comfortably seat your entire party. Put a movie in, make some popcorn, or curl up with a book. It's all good!

The Oregon Coast is one of those magical places you have to experience as soon as you can and as often as possible. That used to be what kept me coming back, but now I’ve got another reason: Shearwater House. April can still be a brisk time of year in Lincoln City, especially when you’re this close to the beach. That didn’t stop me from taking long walks on the water every day and searching for that elusive stone called agate. Once I’d gotten my fill of exploring and was ready to head back up the hill to the house, the hot tub would be waiting for me to relax and reminisce about the day while watching the sun set over the water.
I could easily have stayed at the house and enjoyed the walks, the panoramic ocean views and the cozy fire every day, but there was too much to see! The whale-watching excursion from Depoe Bay took us out on a boat to see if we could catch a glimpse of a grey whale – famous in these parts. I’m convinced he was watching us from the deep as we trolled by.
Debi, Shearwater House’s fearless owner, provided a wonderful list and I took advantage of every suggestion I could cram into my 2 days: Secret Beach at low tide (this is best in the summer); the Newport Aquarium (CUTE puffins!); the lighthouse at Yaquina Head; and Devil’s Punch Bowl (where I had the most amazing clam chowder!)
Grab a group of friends, your whole family (this house sleeps 8-12), or just your honey-bear and head to Shearwater House today!

What a lovely house and amazing views! The deck was our favorite place! When we got rained out on the beach we dried out and enjoyed some lunch and sun and hot tub. Thank you for being such thoughtful hosts. Our son loved the birthday balloons and the rest of us enjoyed the cookies ... and are still enjoying them. The toys and baby stuff were perfect and convenient. We had a blast and were content in all ways! Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Debi: Your Beach house was so incredibly serene and the view was so beautiful, we fell in love. Every piece of the house was set up to give us the best possible experience and I appreciate that. We rented this place to celebrate our friend's birthday and we would love to celebrate many more occasions here in the future. Thank you!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were originally supposed to leave 2 days ago, but extended our trip because we were having such an awesome time. It's is A's birthday, as well as the date of us realizing life would be so much more amazing if we bumbled through it together. We had such a beautiful time (hot tub!), took amazing photographs & explored the surrounding towns. (A speaks of summers as a kid and a vacation home in Salishan.) When it was rainy, we stayed in and indulged in the raunch tat is reality cable in front of the fire. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your gorgeous home with us. We have found our annual anniversary blow-out spot!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you for sharing this wonderful house with us! Some quality family tie away from our home and extended families was what we came for and we got it. We will definitely be coming here again! We got several rainy days which we didn't mind. We just stayed in, enjoyed the hot tub, tv, game console and cooking and eating great meals. We watched seals and maybe some dolphins with the telescope as well. Thanks again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: Rob & Deb married as high school sweethearts, 3 kids and 42 years later are enjoying retirement and the new addition to their family - Shearwater house. Rob's engineering and handyman skills are put into play with the remodeling and maintenance, Deb's travel-agent experience and uber-boss-of-the-family directs the marketing, scheduling and bookkeeping. We love our new vacation home and love sharing it with our guests. When we first bought the Gullhouse 10 years ago (our other vacation rental), we never would have imagined ourselves living this kind of life. We love it. In addition, Rob bicycles, kayaks, climbs, and gives his 6 siblings and our children a hard time. Deb gardens, reads, studies metaphysics and walks. Maybe it's time to start dancing again...
Why the Owner Chose Lincoln City:
We wanted a larger beach house that could house our expanding family. Although the children are grown, two are married, and we expect their families to grow. (Latest update: THREE new grandchildren!) The Shearwaterhouse is a fabulous place for a family party!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
With a total of 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (including the Romance), each couple can have their own space. The hot tub is large enough for 8 people and 10 can easily sit down for a meal. The deck is HUGE and the most beautiful we have ever seen. There is space for everyone, room for everything. And even better, if there are just a couple of us, we can stay in the Romance which is ultra-romantic and has everything a couple needs. I actually prefer a small cozy place when it's just us two...
We can see, hear and smell the ocean. It amazes me to see seals out there swimming and barking at each other. Roads End State Park draws surfers and wind-riders. The tide pools are lovely and a short walk away. We even have our resident neighborhood deer who come visit almost daily.
We enjoy the beach tremendously, but having the Casino, Golf Course and Devil's Lake so close by are additional pluses, Lincoln City offers many family activities in which to participate.
