This comfortable, well-furnished home is in a quiet residential neighborhood about 15 minutes from the center of Deland and Stetson University. It has access to Lake Beresford, and a partial lake view from the house. The outlook is beautiful -- a huge yard with many trees. The sandhill cranes are a bonus! The house itself has a large family room open to the kitchen and dining area -- very good for families -- and a small screened porch. The kitchen is well-equipped. Ideal for people visiting Stetson, but also a good base for exploring this part of Florida. Deland is a charming town, retaining much of the feel of "old Florida."

Owner response: Dear Lynn Thank you for taking the time to review our home. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay here and hope to have you visit again in the near future.

The owners are friendly, accomodating, and very helpful. The property was clean and well maintained. The neighbourhood was very quiet and friendly. The location was perfect - within close driving distance of shopping and restaurants. Very convenient to Stetson University. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing accomodations in this area. We intend to make at least an annual visit. Only negative was the sporatic internet connection. Was a beautiful lake and boat rental nearby but we were not adventurous enough to try! Maybe next time! We did see something jumping in the lake! We saw birds, squirrels, lizards and a tortoise shell!

Owner response: Thank you Terry. Best wishes for your daughter in new role as college student!

Very accommodating and spacious enough for lots of personal time even with 2 young kids! Amazing large yard with shaddy trees allowed for outside time our girls have never been able to enjoy. Lake breezes on the patio. Fantastic! I highly recommend!!!

I spent 3 weeks in this house caring for my 3 yr old granddaughter while her mother was training and competing in Dressage. It was a great place to entertain a 3 yr old with a host of playgrounds, parks and swimming within a short drive. Places we visited : Hontoon Island State Park, Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge, DeLeon Springs for swimming and playground, Daytona Beach(the longest drive), The Wednesday Farmer's Market, the Freedom Playground on W. Stone St. and the little park on Alhambrah St. We also did a lot of "fishing" off the dock(no hooks on a Sponge Bob Squarepants fishing pole). We were also entertained by the little lizards around. I would certainly recommend this property to others. We did not eat out much due to mom's schedule and the needs of a little girl. The kitchen was a great place to cook and we were fine with eating in.

About the owner: My wife and I have lived in South Florida for most of our adult life, and both lead busy stressful lives. So a few years back, we decided to find a small house, within three hours driving distance, on a body of water where we could enjoy each other's company away from the hustle and bustle. I am an attorney and my wife is a real estate broker, with multiple business interests. As we get older we recognize and value our time spent together, but more importantly, the pace and serenity that truly adds years in health were hard to come by. That's when we made a conscious decision to steal that time and enjoyed it in an environment of natural beauty. We now enjoy sharing our discovery and happiness on the River with others. You can only truly know what I speak of if you take the time and get away the St. Johns River as we.

Why the Owner Chose De Land:
My wife often says that being on the River whether just floating fishing or sightseeing, is emotionally physically and mentally. as well as spiritually, healing. Three years ago my wife and I fell in love with the St. Johns River and quite serendipitously discovered DeLand in Central Florida. After buying a second home on the Hontoon Peninsula and spending many wonderful weekends relaxing on the River, we decided to invest in another residential property to use for our family and friends who would often come to visit. The unspoiled natural beauty of the River has captured many hearts and left us with awesome memories. The abundant wildlife, scenic waterways and uncrowded ambience keep all who visited returning.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
The unspoiled natural beauty of the River has captured many hearts and left us with awesome memories. The abundant wildlife, scenic waterways and uncrowded ambience keep all who visited returning. My wife often says that being on the River whether just floating fishing or sightseeing, is emotionally physically and mentally. as well as spiritually, healing. Whether it's fishing, skydiving, hunting, hiking, bird watching, horseback riding, water sports or off-road biking; Deland offers it all. But we warn you, you're about to fall in love old world Florida like few have had the pleasure to experience. Once smitten you will count the days to returning to the way life should be, peaceful, relaxing and satisfying. We are sure that once you discover Deland, with its quaint and friendly downtown, wonderful restaurants and overall charming shops, you too will see why this is the community to spend time in when enjoying the St. Johns River on your memorable retreat.
