Captiva - Pool Home - Footsteps to Beach and Bay
Year Purchased: 2000
Why the Owner Chose Captiva Island
It's so fabulous to go out of our driveway and go west, three properties to the Gulf beach or leave our driveway and go east three properties and be on the calm Bay waters. No matter what fun we want...it's SO EASY.
The Unique Benefits at this House
There are very few home which offer as many bedrooms with their own bathrooms. of our 5 bedrooms, three of them have en suite bathrooms and 2 of them share a connecting bathroom. This makes it really easy for many people to get ready at the same time and offers convenience and privacy. Our house ALWAYS seems sunny. We have ample sky-lights which have heat and glare shields. Our pool is heated. We are the third in from the gulf beach on one side and the third in from the bay on the other. The driveway gate can be closed for privacy and most of the property is fenced. We are constantly told the pictures don't do us justice and enjoy having many guests who return to Blue Heaven year after year.
We are three properties in from the Gulf on the west side and three properties in from the Bay to the east.
The Bay is so beautiful. Amazing for kayacking, birding, shelling. One can rent all kinds of boats, go kitegliding off the back of boats, rent jet skis, eat at the Green Flash overlooking the water.
Andy Rosse Lane and terrific little boutiques and super restaurants with outdoor seating. Most restaurants play live (one singer and guitar) music. A great place to visit it's hopping...but I wouldn't want to sleep there.
Arrangements can be made to have wedding ceremonies. It is historic, beautiful. There is a VERY old burial ground where the original Captiva settlers were laid to rest within earshot of the ocean's waves. Palm trees overhead. Very poignant, very beautiful. NOT creepy. Tiny perfect place.
AMAZING views of the bay and great food. Notorious for two way mirror over the mens room facilities which allow them to look out at the bar.
A very lovely old "resort". You can go to their restaurants, rent boats, hire fishing guides, shelling guides, make arrangements for tennis (fee) This is where Anne Morrow Lindburgh wrote "A Gift From The Sea". It is a VERY quick walk down the beach from our house.

We had a great afternoon at the Crafts Fair in Sanibel. My husband took this of us standing in front of a mirror we wanted to buy.

The home was wonderful for two families (4 adults and 5 kids). The pool was great! The kids spent a lot of time going between there and the beach (which is two minutes away). You're very close (walking distance) to shops in Captiva! The house was very well lit with skylights and plenty of windows to let in the Florida sun. Lots of space for everyone to spread out in throughout the house. Our only little recommendation would be a new outdoor grill. The current one was somewhat underpowered. Overall, a great place to stay!

Eight of us had the BEST time at this house. It was bright and airy, everything worked well. It's 2 seconds from both the beach and the bay...3 houses away from each. We went to the charming little ancient graveyard along the beach and to the little Chapel by the Sea. We ate TONS of shrimp. We loved that the bathrooms connected to every bedroom. That was great for privacy. Having the kitchen and the two little kitchenettes was great because some of us slept late and others were early risers. We are going to come back again next year. Can't wait!!!
Owner response:Thank you for arranging to return again in 2011. So glad you had so much fun.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We had a lovely week here on Captiva. The kids loved the pool, and couldn’t stay off the beach. The avian life we witnessed was a wonder. The weather sure was a contrast from Chicago. Your house was a delight.

This is a terrific place to have a vacation. The flexible floorplan allows us to satisfy a lot of plans. There are three bedrooms and three attached bathrooms "upstairs" on the main level of the house. BUT...there are also a bedroom with two twins and a kitchenette and a HUGE king bedroom with sitting area and kitchenette and "jack & jill" bathroom between the two. The entry level can use its Private entrance, but is also 2 more bedrooms for the whole house accessed through the front door atrium entry to the house. Perfect!! 3 to 5 bedrooms with great privacy for "In-laws" Friends or a Traveling Companion/Nanny. The pool is GREAT. Steps to the Beach AND to the Bay. Great roof deck views of the water. It is such a cheerful and bright house. Welcome to Blue Heaven.
