The Santa Ana River upper headwaters of the river in the San Bernardino Mountains still retain a free flowing character and outstanding natural values. The upper headwaters, including its sparkling waters, scenic verdant meadows, rich riparian habitat, and thick forests of pine, fir, and oak offer an outdoor recreation mecca for hikers, bicyclists and fishermen. Why the Owner Chose Angelus Oaks

We handcrafted this unique log home ourselves, with much attention to detail. Located in a beautiful green wilderness, the Santa Ana River is unique for So. California - green and pristine. Love the apple blossoms and yucca in the Spring. Bird watching includes herons, owls, quail and hawks. Stars are a lot brighter out here. We encourage our guests to learn about our region's rich history, encouraging stewardship of this rich and unique riparian environment.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Very private area. Gorgeous mountain views, country setting. Lots of maintained landscape grass areas on this 5 acre property. Rainbow trout are stocked regularly in the Santa Ana River. You can enjoy sitting on lawn chairs in the middle of the river with your feet up on an inflatable raft with a cool refreshment in hand. Kids LOVE it here!
Water from our well is 100% Mountain Spring. Clean, clear and delicious. No need to bring bottled water.

A
Trout is stocked during the summer

This is the drop off point for the stocked rainbow trout.

B
Beautiful trails for miles along the Santa Ana River

Creeks and springs feed into the Santa Ana River, making the river wider and deeper as you get downstream. Very lush green trees and vegetation along the river.

D
Apple orchard from the 1890's

Originally a cattle ranch during the gold rush this homestead still has giant apple trees bearing delicious fruit. Blackberries and strawberries also grow here. Flavor of an old-fashioned family farm.

E
Angelus Oaks

Restaurant and post office only.

F
Seven Oaks Resort Campground

Restaurant/bar and very small convenience store.

G
Dirt road short cut

From Angelus Oaks it is 12 miles to the log home on Hwy 38/Glass Road or 4 miles along this dirt road (Mill Creek/Middle Control), suitable for cars in the summer only. Watch for on-coming traffic.

Owner's Map of Angelus Oaks

Originally from the lake country of northern Minnesota. Robert hand-scribed this fabulous home and all the amazing details. Robert likes to tinker and invent. Anna is a graphic designer who enjoys landscaping this five acre canvas. Their hospitality experience included owning a bed and breakfast in New Zealand. The log house shares a five acre property with the owner’s cabin 200' away from the house. We respect your privacy, but if you need anything we can assist immediately. We are very interested in making sure your stay is comfortable.

A definite must for anyone who loves the outdoors

Guest: trailblazer (Laguna Hills)

My family hadn’t had our winter vacation so we booked this gorgeous cabin. We arrived to an immaculate cabin secluded amongst the woods. This super cozy cabin had all the comforts of home and came furnished with all the necessities for our family of 12. The scenery was breathtaking and we especially enjoyed the view while BBQing on the deck!! Hiking along the river was so refreshing. It was a vacation we will treasure and we look forward to returning to your little paradise soon.

Took a group of 10 (5 couples) and we had an amazing time. The place was very clean, very comfortable and everyone enjoyed our stay. The owners were very gracious and helped make us feel very much at home. If you are looking to get away from the hectic pace so many of us live day to day, this is a great retreat. We will be back.

Great Getaway for our Group!

Guest: QFY (Los Angeles)
Date of Stay: 12/29/11 Review Submitted: 01/05/12

We just returned from a 4-night stay at R.J. & Anna's meticulous cabin, and boy did we have a great time!!! The location is definitely remote, so be prepared to bring all you need unless you wish to drive 45 minutes back down the mountain (or 45 minutes to Big Bear). That being said, we loved it! The scenery alone made the cabin desirable--we could sit on the deck and hear the sounds of the nearby river, play and run around in the yard, or just take in a slower pace of life (be sure to gaze at the stars at night too!). We really loved how easy it was to venture out for great long hikes--on one occasion, one of the owners' dogs led us the whole way! While the scenery was remarkable, the cabin itself was really great too. There was plenty of space for our group to sprawl out on the 3 couches, visit, play board games, eat together and yet still have your own privacy in one of the 5 bedrooms or loft. We thought that the kitchen was especially great. The owners have done a nice job to keep it stocked with pans and utensils, and the stove/oven seemed new. There was plenty of counter space and it was not at all difficult to knock out meals for our group in that kitchen. If there was anything we wished for, it was a bigger TV equipped with cable/satellite service, but overall everything (bathrooms, appliances) felt modern enough to keep us really comfortable while still taking in the rustic vibe of the surroundings. We'd love to visit again!

Christmas Gift 12/24-27/2011

Guest: 'V' (San Dimas, California)
Date of Stay: 12/24/11 Review Submitted: 12/31/11

My family and I had a great time during our Christmas holiday. My grandchildren, nephews and nieces were able to play on the swing, tree house, and picked worms to fish on the property's stream. One of my nieces caught her first trout. The cabin was clean, spacious and had all the necessary amenities. The owners R.J. and Anna were honest, pleasant and very helpful. God willing, My family and I hope to return next year. THANK YOU R.J. and ANNA!

We had an absolutely amazing two night stay here. I’ve always wanted to stay somewhere remote, yet not compromise on comfort. This place gave us exactly that. Relaxation sets in the moment you arrive. This sure is a piece of heaven.

Relaxing Time

Guest: Karen (Anaheim Hills, CA)
Date of Stay: 11/11/11 Review Submitted: 11/14/11

We just got back from our two night stay at this beautiful home. All questions prior to our trip were answered promptly and in great detail. We were a party of 7 adults and all had a relaxing time. RJ & Anna are very generous hosts and readily available. We enjoyed the comfy beds and beautiful scenery, caught a few fish and played with the friendly dogs! If you're looking for a place to relax and reconnect with family and friends, this is a perfect place to do so.

Wonderful time. Beautiful locale all around, and the hosts couldn't be nicer. The cabin (home) was beautifully made and furnished. As long as one is prepared for a secluded location it couldn't be nicer. Have fun! We did.

Thank you...here is a little reflection from your amazing land..

Guest: BeSimply (Long Beach, CA)
Date of Stay: 10/14/11 Review Submitted: 10/24/11

Poetry from a Women's Retreat: "We all arrived to a magical location in Angelus Oaks on a Friday afternoon. The yin energy of the land enveloped all of us and assisted in pealing back a layer or two. We explored the expressions of the feminine…her softness, her playfulness, her creative and intuitive nature with ease. We approached her myth in the astral realm, under the starry sky and as an on going story. The dialogue streamed as the inward journey expanded and the “time” went to far to quickly."

Thank you for providing a wonderful location for an outstanding team building event for my team of store managers. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience…the peaceful and beautiful setting was perfect for our yearly getaway. Our river hike on Tuesday was an incredible team building activity and something we will always remember! We left some coffee for you next to the guest book that we hope you enjoy. A team of Starbucks District Manager heard me rave about the beauty of your place, and they are looking to book a date very soon. Thanks again for crafting such a beautiful cabin in such a beautiful place for us to enjoy!

We had a wonderful time at this riverfront log home. The house has every amenity that you would need and more. Hiking, the walk to the river, the jacuzzi, the beautiful scenery, the great wrap-around porch and much more make this place the perfect getaway. We had 2 small children with us also that loved exploring, swinging on the tree swing and checking out the treehouse!
