Why the Owner Chose Angelus OaksWe handcrafted this unique log home ourselves, with much attention to detail. Located in a beautiful green wilderness, the Santa Ana River is unique for So. California - green and pristine. Love the apple blossoms and yucca in the Spring. Bird watching includes herons, owls, quail and hawks. Stars are a lot brighter out here. We encourage our guests to learn about our region's rich history, encouraging stewardship of this rich and unique riparian environment.
The Unique Benefits at this HouseVery private area. Gorgeous mountain views, country setting. Lots of maintained landscape grass areas on this 5 acre property. This is the drop off point for the stocked rainbow trout.
Creeks and springs feed into the Santa Ana River, making the river wider and deeper as you get downstream. Very lush green trees and vegetation along the river.
Originally a cattle ranch during the gold rush this homestead still has giant apple trees bearing delicious fruit. Blackberries and strawberries also grow here. Flavor of an old-fashioned family farm.

We spent a weekend with twelve friends at this amazing log home and had a most delightful time! This home is probably the most beautiful hand crafted home I have seen...The owners took advantage of the beautiful scenery and crafted a log home to die for! Lots of painstaking attention to detail and wonderful interior collection of antiques acquired throughout the years...from a handcarved antique Indian to a refurbished pot belly stove and light fixtures.Five very comfortable bedrooms plus a loft and sofas make this a perfect place for 6+ couples and their families. You don't feel that you're crowding each other. Deck is ideal for dining...apple orchards and garden flowers(especially the sweet william and poppies) surrounding the river make hiking picture perfect.Would go back in a flash Thank you R.J. and Anna...you were terrifc hosts!

This is a lovely place to go to get away from it all! The log home is gorgeous and well maintained. All the comforts of home were available. There are so many sleeping areas that you could have many guests stay with you! The teenagers especially loved the loft, it was their hangout. We love to cook and everything you need is right there, including a gas grill outside. We also enjoyed the spa and the deck to sit and relax. The river is right below the property and there are many nature hiking trails near and around the river to get outside and enjoy nature. You are surrounded by mountains and picturesque views. There is a cool tree swing outside for the kids. Make sure to bring all your food supplies with you and to get gas before going up the mountain, as it is a ways to go to the store if you forget something. But Anna and RJ are right there to help if anything is needed, especially those last minute items, they are well-prepared. They can also direct you to nearby trails, lakes, fishing, etc. Myself? I just liked to kick back, relax with a drink and enjoy the peaceful countryside and visit with my family and friends. It's a great place to take your extended family for a get-together, or just a romantic weekend for 2 people.

WOW!! We just spent an amazing 3 night stay at the beautiful log cabin. The house was in such a great condition, huge showers, stainless-steel stove, comfy beds, fully stocked kitchen! I loved the fact that everything was so close to the house, we went hiking, fishing, exploring. The hot tub was amazing at night, it was so quiet and the starts looked gorgeous. Pictures did not do justice!!! We were all blown away at the fact that Anna & RJ built the whole thing from scratch. We were so happy RJ & Anna were so welcoming they were so attentive and helpful with tips on where to fish and explore. It made us feel so at home. It was a great getaway we will be back in the summer. Thank you RJ & Anna for making our vacation that much more enjoyable, see you in a few months!

My family hadn’t had our winter vacation so we booked this gorgeous cabin. We arrived to an immaculate cabin secluded amongst the woods. This super cozy cabin had all the comforts of home and came furnished with all the necessities for our family of 12. The scenery was breathtaking and we especially enjoyed the view while BBQing on the deck!! Hiking along the river was so refreshing. It was a vacation we will treasure and we look forward to returning to your little paradise soon.

Took a group of 10 (5 couples) and we had an amazing time. The place was very clean, very comfortable and everyone enjoyed our stay. The owners were very gracious and helped make us feel very much at home. If you are looking to get away from the hectic pace so many of us live day to day, this is a great retreat. We will be back.

We just returned from a 4-night stay at R.J. & Anna's meticulous cabin, and boy did we have a great time!!! The location is definitely remote, so be prepared to bring all you need unless you wish to drive 45 minutes back down the mountain (or 45 minutes to Big Bear). That being said, we loved it! The scenery alone made the cabin desirable--we could sit on the deck and hear the sounds of the nearby river, play and run around in the yard, or just take in a slower pace of life (be sure to gaze at the stars at night too!). We really loved how easy it was to venture out for great long hikes--on one occasion, one of the owners' dogs led us the whole way! While the scenery was remarkable, the cabin itself was really great too. There was plenty of space for our group to sprawl out on the 3 couches, visit, play board games, eat together and yet still have your own privacy in one of the 5 bedrooms or loft. We thought that the kitchen was especially great. The owners have done a nice job to keep it stocked with pans and utensils, and the stove/oven seemed new. There was plenty of counter space and it was not at all difficult to knock out meals for our group in that kitchen. If there was anything we wished for, it was a bigger TV equipped with cable/satellite service, but overall everything (bathrooms, appliances) felt modern enough to keep us really comfortable while still taking in the rustic vibe of the surroundings. We'd love to visit again!

My family and I had a great time during our Christmas holiday. My grandchildren, nephews and nieces were able to play on the swing, tree house, and picked worms to fish on the property's stream. One of my nieces caught her first trout. The cabin was clean, spacious and had all the necessary amenities. The owners R.J. and Anna were honest, pleasant and very helpful. God willing, My family and I hope to return next year. THANK YOU R.J. and ANNA!

We just got back from our two night stay at this beautiful home. All questions prior to our trip were answered promptly and in great detail. We were a party of 7 adults and all had a relaxing time. RJ & Anna are very generous hosts and readily available. We enjoyed the comfy beds and beautiful scenery, caught a few fish and played with the friendly dogs! If you're looking for a place to relax and reconnect with family and friends, this is a perfect place to do so.
