A charming family 3 bedroom cottage that is newly updated, fresh, open and right on the shores of 100’ of the most beautiful expansive private beach in Southwest Lower Michigan on the shore of Lake Michigan.
This enchanting Lake Michigan waterfront setting is also tucked in a very private neighborhood that is surrounded by Grand Mere State Park, so wild life abounds. Walk the pure sand beach and collect beach glass as you stroll, take in all the nature and some of the most dramatic sunsets you will ever enjoy.
This comfortable cottage sleeps six (2 Queens, and 2 singles). The master bedroom is upstairs overlooking the lake, lie in bed and watch the waves, boats, and people strolling the beach. The sounds of Lake Michigan will help put you to sleep and really get you to totally escape your busy and stressful lives. Relax on the screened porch as you enjoy putting your feet up and reading a book on the white wicker or serve a family meal on the table. Outside you’ll find a Weber grill, picnic table, wooden swing and a lush green yard for fun and games. Make family memories with an evening fire bowl on the beach complete with marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers. Or if the evening is cool, why not have a fire inside the cottage, while watching the flat screen TV with CD player built in & (cable). The cottage has a half bath up-stairs in the master and a full bath on the main floor.
In the summer an outside shower is provided to rinse off after a day at the beach. This cottage is equipment with all linens & towels; you only need to bring beach towels. In the master bedroom is cathedral ceiling & fan, a wonderful sitting area as well as its’ own small deck off the half bath.
Only 75 minutes from downtown Chicago, Exit 22 off Michigan I-94, the cottage is only 5 minutes from the exit. This area has outstanding restaurants (Tosi’s, Grand Mere, Tabor Hill), winery’s, golf courses, and about 15 minutes from downtown St. Joseph, Mi. Our sunset coast is becoming more and more popular with out-of-state visitors. From Art Fairs to Ice Carving there is always something going on in the area.

Why the Owner Chose StevensvilleThis land has been in the family since 1919, it is a very special and secluded treasure boosting one of the best beaches that Michigan has to offer. And it is surrounded by the Grande Mere State Park, so one can plan on seeing lots of deer, wild turkeys, and many different types of birds.
The Unique Benefits at this CottageThe sunsets are priceless! And best of all they set right in front of the cottage. Sitting on the screened porch, laying in the master bed - all while looking at the lake and beach is as good as it gets. Also, having no one on the beach - peace and quiet.

My husband and I purchased the cottage from his family and two years ago totally remodeled the inside of this vintage cottage, making it look more beachy/European. We live next door to the cottage and love to see people enjoy the comfort and beach living that our area has to offer. We added air conditioning the fall of 2011.

I am writing this review from Europe, yet I would prefer to be back at this wonderful sanctuary. After business and the rush of the city, it was so pleasant on my last visit to take time to reflect watching the sunset. You are nestled between a state park and a naturte preserve. While the waves on the PRIVATE beach are soothing to the ear at night, the day time sun warms the flesh. While there, I did use the wireless Internet, and made use of the nearby outlet malls. When I mentioned this proposed trip to the owners, they promptly provided a discount card! I enjoyed local restaurants (especially the non-chain types). The best part is the local knowledge of the owners. They pointed me to a specialty butcher who provided me with above restaurant quality beef. In case the reader thinks that this review is a one-timer, I have visited this cottage several times a year and consider it one of the finest experiences that I treasure. A great place to write a book.....or especially a ROMANTIC Getaway! Great place for kids - very safe, and lots to do.

What a wonderful place to spend a vacation. Nothing like having your own beach on Lake Michigan, nearby restaurants and activites. Also the most awesome thing to relax in the screened in porch watching the sunset or falling asleep to the sounds of waves on the shore. Great for our family with small kids but I am sure it would be awesome for just couples too! Excellent place and owners!
