This is my first experience with a vacation rental and it was horrible. Information was difficult to obtain. Owner was not helpful...had difficulty getting access to housing-directions were not accurate & keys were not easy to obtain. The place was run down with alot of broken drawers and the beds were not comfortable. The place was dingy and not very clean. The hot tub did not have the jets working on it. In trying to communicate with the owners after the event was unsatisfactory and they did not return security deposit after we cleaned the place to stay there and fixed several items.
Owner response:The pictures of our Pocconos townhouse speak for themselves. It is a lovely 2,000 square foot condo with a wraparound deck, along with an eight person hot tub. Your weekend stay was a bargain for the weekend. We ask for a small deposit which covers things like guests draining the hot tub themselves and our having to call out the hot tub people on a Friday night to accommodate the next guest and paying over and above the original cleaning fee to get it operational again. Draining the hot tub is definitely not in any way part of any agreement our guests would be responsible for. Due to the additional expenditure on our part after you so kindly took it upon yourself to do something we did not ask you to do, it was only fair that you would not receive your deposit back. If you needed more information, we are available and more than happy to discuss any questions you may have. I’m not sure how your GPS did not give you accurate directions and the keys were in a lock box on the door. We did have a broken drawer in the kitchen that subsequently has been repaired and we have a cleaning crew that comes in after every guest that clean the condo from top to bottom. The hot tub is fairly new and we keep it working properly by retaining a professional company that comes in to maintain it. These are our own expenses. As a guest, you are required to leave the premises as you found it so if you had to clean up after yourselves this was part of the agreement. I’m not sure what items you fixed as we have maintenance people who fix any items that need repair. We are truly sorry your experience was less than desirable and we would like to extend your next stay security deposit free .
