It's minutes to the beach via the Sconset footbridge which is a stone's throw away. Svargaloka is located in the heart of Historic Sconset where there is a post office, liquor store, three restaurants, 2 art galleries and a market. It even has its own lighthouse, Sankaty Light. The village is famous for its rose covered cottages and has been a destination for artists for generations. Wander the lanes and alleyways and be astonished by these quaint little houses and their beautiful summer gardens.

Svargaloka has been recently upgraded with a new kitchen, refinished antique floors and freshly painted walls. Charming Beach House with Full Water Views

Why the Owner Chose Siasconset

Svargaloka (Land of Paradise) has been in our family for several generations. An early descendent, Eva Channing, was a linguist and she was studying Sanskrit in the middle east when she received a letter from Sconset telling her of the new trend to name houses. Her response was ' oh, svargaloka'.
The house has been a year round residence for the past 30 years. We have decided to follow in the tradition of our mother and grandmother by putting it back on the rental market. It has provided everlasting memories to generations of renters as well as to our family.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Magnificent water views from the back yard - you don't have to go to the beach!

Charming Beach House with Full Water Views

Perfect accommodations for a relaxing vacation in Sconset

Guest: Young Family/First Time to Nantucket (Darien, CT)
Date of Stay: 08/21/10 Review Submitted: 09/06/10

This was our first time in Nantucket and we had a wonderful and relaxing experience at Svargaloka. The house is perfectly located on a bluff overlooking the beach and just steps from the hub of the quaint Sconset village with market, a few restaurants, post office, Casino etc. While the house is over 100 years old, it has been well maintained (and was clean) and is decorated with antiques appropriate to such a historic home -- it feels very "Nantucket". The kitchen and bathrooms are newly renovated and include all appliances (including washer and dryer) you could possibly need. We enjoyed the outdoor shower very much. The views from the house are breathtaking. Watching the moon and it's reflection shimmering over the ocean was especially magical. The house did not present any problems for our 18 month old daughter. While the beach at Sconset is better for playing in the sand than swimming (due to the strong rip tide), Sconset is just a short drive to Sesachacha pond in Quidnet (perfect for little ones). To top everything off, we were greeted by the homeowners upon arrival and given a tour of the house and village. Karla, Thea, and Stephen were all very pleasant and helpful in planning our trip. We will stay at Svargaloka again when we return to Nantucket.
