Location: Buckhead, Lake Oconee, Atlanta, Central & Southern, Georgia, USA (Buckhead 2 miles, Madison 8 miles, Greensboro 12 & Athens 30)

Accommodations:  Modular Home, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-7)

We call it Moon River Fish Camp. It's located at the top of Lake Oconee on the Appalachee River in fisherman's paradise. We have 300+ feet in a cove on a wide bend in the river where the fishing & the view are awesome. We are at the Morgan/Green County Line.

Our camp has a large great room, kitchen and deck combination. The master has a queen, 2nd bedroom a queen, 3rd bedroom a full & a roll-a-way twin bed is available.

You will have a paid boat launch for one boat with your stay. The boat launch is at the top of the street at the Appalachee River bait shop. And a real bonus the Oconee River is less than 15 minutes away & you can put in there at Dyars Pasture. It is a State Park & you pay $3 as you launch. The Crappie & White Bass fishing are outstanding during the spring, especially up river on the Appalachee when the White Bass are running. Talk about a great time & fish stories. Summer is good for everything including some great cat fishing and in the fall & winter hybrid & striper bass likes to get busy. You can go down the river to the lake for some Crappie fishing or just enjoying the lake. We like to go up river as far as we can & then float down with the trolling motor & hunt the honey holes. John-boats ONLY up river. It's too shallow for any other type boat but down river can accommodate a larger boat or pontoon boat.

We do not have a dock but we are working on it. Goose, deer, turkey and other wildlife are hunted in the area. If you are hunting for a place to stay while you go to your leased property or maybe duck or goose hunting this could be the place for you.

If you are with the fisherman but would like something else to do Madison is minutes away. It has great shopping, antique stores, restaurants, theater and beautiful historic houses. There are several small towns close by, each with it's on special personality and local treasures. Or just kick back at the camp on the deck with a good book ... enjoy the peace and get that needed R & R.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2002

We love to fish***river, lake, brackish or ocean. Everywhere we go we seem to make time to fish. One of our favorite kinds of fishing is river fishing. We love to motor up & float down. Here at the fish camp we have two rivers we can fish plus the lake. We love the outdoors & nature. We also love to recycle old wood & discarded items. We make cabin & barn wood furniture out of old barns we take down or lumber that we mill or salvage. We have taken our loves and combined them in the fish camp by getting a great place on the river & remodeling the inside to look like a cabin & making most of the furniture. We love making special pieces & places & our personalities are all over this place. We hope you will enjoy it too.

Why the Owner Chose Buckhead

It's all about the great fishing at Lake Oconee & the rivers that feed it. We had our eye on this property & were delighted when it became available. We just love the area. We have been renting it out by the year but have just lost our renter. We decided we wanted to use it so we could stay & fish so we converted it to a daily rental. We are so excited to finally be using it, it's so private & quite & we enjoying fixing it up. Hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing its all here plus having Madison & I-20 so close at hand makes everything convenient. And the boat launch & bait shop are at the top of the street. We love to shop antiques & Madison is full of great shopping & antique stores, and it has a great deal of historic beauty. Good local golf courses too.

The Unique Benefits of this Modular Home

The outstanding view is the first thing you notice. The biggest thing is the unexpected privacy & quite. The fish camp is at the end of the cul-de-sac so the little part of the yard is on the road & the big, 300+ ft back yard is on the lake/river. It has woods on both sides of the property. It is located in a very wide bend in the river so the water & view just go on & on. There is very little boat traffic so the wildlife is much more abundant. You constantly see white cranes, blue hereon, osprey, hummingbirds, deer, raccoons, beaver, running chad, jumping fish & so much more.
