Just a glimpse of our Ocean Beach, CA beach-house -- Half-block to beach
Location: Ocean Beach, San Diego County, California, USA (Convenient, prime location in Ocean Beach - San Diego) View Map
Accommodations: House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-6)
Keywords: House
Step out the front door of this charming spacious beach house into the cool ocean breeze and watch the waves roll onto shore. Or enjoy a glass of wine and dine "al fresco" on the large private patio in back completely surrounded by lush tropical gardens.
Back inside you'll find all the comforts of home in a clean, contemporary environment with original artwork done by local artists shown throughout the house. The bedroom has a queen size pillow-top mattress with high thread-count sheets, down comforter, two large closets, and a small vanity area. There's a cozy wood-burning fireplace in the living room, a sectional sofa that easily converts into a comfortable double bed, and a floor plan that opens into the dining area and the fully-equipped kitchen.
The unique design of this house allows a choice of several different configurations to suit different sized parties. Part of the house can be locked off, with the remainder being available for rent as a large one bedroom/one bath unit. Or the second bedroom suite (which has it's own private entrance, private bath, and separate living area) can be made available. For even larger parties, this separate living area easily converts into a third bedroom with convertible double bed and ample closet space.
Just a half block away is the surf and sand of beautiful Ocean Beach, where the San Diego locals like to go to surf, swim, and just hang out at the beach. The famous OB Pier (the longest pier in southern California) is just down the beach, and so is the main lifeguard tower.
Downtown OB is a short, scenic 4-block walk or bike ride away. There you will find an eclectic mix of eateries, nightclubs, antique shops, clothing stores, and much, much more. Every Wednesday the main street is shut down to vehicle traffic for a large and very popular Farmer's Market. Two four-star restaurants are also located in town.
And of course, all of greater San Diego's other abundant attractions are easily accessible by car. Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, the Gaslamp district, Old Town, Petco Park, Sunset Cliffs -- all located within a 10-minute or less drive. The airport, train station, and trolley system are as well.
Come stay with us at Seascapes at Brighton Beach Gardens. We'll do our very best to help make your stay a rejuvenating, healing experience and a positive, lasting memory.

Map & Owner's Profile
Spacious 1-3BR House W/Tropical Gardens Half-Block to Beach
Year Purchased: 1999
Why the Owner Chose Ocean Beach
I was attracted to Ocean Beach because it is one of the few remaining funky little beach towns in Southern California that hasn't been commercialized, and it's where the locals like to go -- great surfing and swimming and beautiful white sand beach. It's got a very laid-back atmosphere that I truly appreciate.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The major benefit of this property is its location. Just a half block from the beach is this wonderful, spacious beach house that I've completely surrounded with vibrant, tropical gardens. The other major benefit is the rental rate. We are trying to offer an AFFORDABLE alternative to the beauty of San Diego beaches.
Street closes to vehicle traffic every Wednesday afternoon for a very popular Farmer's Market and Street Fair
Lots of healthy grocery options & check out the restaurant upstairs
This is the main commercial district with restaurants galore, antiques, clothing stores, pubs, and people watching

We stayed at this lovely beach bungalow August 25-31, 2011 and truly enjoyed our stay. It was the perfect get-away before the arrival of our first baby due in October. The cottage is set on a quiet street, literally a 4 minute walk to Ocean Beach and Dog Beach...in the evening when the tide comes in, you can hear the ocean from both the front porch and the patio. You can really tell that the owners care about this home and definitely keep it in tip-top shape for their guests. The kitchen is stocked with all the amenities you need to make all your meals; the bathroom is spacious, stocked with a great hair dryer and cozy towels; the master bedroom has an insanely comfortable queen-sized bed...just what you'll need after spending a relaxing day at the beach. We had all that we needed to enjoy a day at the beach: umbrella, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach ball, towels, blanket, bikes, etc. My family and I will definitely be returning next year for what we hope will be another enjoyable stay!

The best compliment a place can receive is REPEAT BUSINESS. Having lived in Ocean Beach for many years, this is more of a homecoming than just a vacation. A chance to hook up with old friends and neighbors, the family comes together from all parts of the country and meets here for a week to spend time relaxing. The house itself is immaculately appointed with everything needed to stay in and just be at home on the beach, while being located just in walking distance to everything OB has to offer, for those who prefer to dine out and shop Newport Ave. Our hosts have thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. The proximity to the beach itself. the furnishings, the fireplace, and the patio are all key features. The place is spacious, clean and fresh, and welcoming. Superlative property. We would not consider staying anywhere else for our annual trip to San Diego.

Perfect choice for our family of three. The cordial owner, Randy, delivered even more than is mentioned in the listing. The kitchen came complete with coffee and other basics. Firewood was ready for the fireplace. We had plenty of high-grade linens and towels. The little patio garden behind the house was very inviting. Extremely convenient to have bikes and boogie boards at our disposal instead of arranging for rentals. The washer and dryer appear new; other appliances were also in top shape. Our son takes lonnnggg showers and we never ran short of hot water. The walk to the beach took two minutes. I loved strolling past the storefronts in this funky little town. The Farmer's Market each Wednesday is a fun outing. Negatives? Internet postings warn about the homeless population in Ocean Beach. We saw a number of homeless people but they were quiet and reserved. Dogs everywhere? Yes, but aside from the few owners who weren't conscientious about poop patrol, the pets are more seen than heard. Except for one loud football-watching party that lasted until 10, the neighborhood was very quiet. Our son has autism and we were concerned that air traffic might be disruptive but only rarely did planes catch his attention. If you're into generic condo accommodations, lodge elsewhere. We enjoyed the lived-in look and feel of the place. It felt like home from the moment we hauled our suitcases inside.During our five-day stay, we went to the Safari Park once, zoo twice, and SeaWorld three times. (Yes, our son's an animal junkie) Those places were fun but we always looked forward to heading back to the cottage to relax. I did hours of research online before we chose this cottage and we could not have been more pleased with our decision. In fact, a family friend is already planning to book a weekend there in the near future.

Highly recommend this sweet, vintage cottage! Everything is neat, clean and homey. The owners are delightful people who were very helpful and kind-- gifted guests with candy, fruit, coffee and wood for the fireplace! Fabulous location. When you step out the front door you can see the waves and the surfers. Be sure to check out dog beach (next to the beach you can see from the front yard). It's amazing to see all the happy dogs and owners frolicing in the surf. We will return for sure!
