Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2009
Steve and Danielle Rodhouse reside in Monterey, California where Steve is a contractor and Danielle is a Hypnotherapist, childbirth educator, and Doula. They have two active grade-school age boys. It has always been a family dream to have a property in a tropical setting. When they visited Huatulco for the first time, they realized they had found their paradise.
Why the Owner Chose Huatulco
The first time they visited Huatulco, Steve & Danielle fell in love with its charm, beauty, adventure, and peace. It was everything they had been searching for in Mexico. The nine stunning bays with 36 pristine beaches give endless beautiful space to explore. The charm of La Crucecita is ideal for evening strolls and dinners out. Sueño del Mar is a short and inexpensive taxi ride to most of the beaches, Santa Cruz, and La Crucecita. The locals are warm and welcoming. They love the area and hope you will also enjoy making it your home base during your vacation.
The Unique Benefits of this Condo
Cielo is a beautifully decorated, fully-equipped rental unit. It is ideal for a couple or a family. In addition to the king bed in the master bedroom, the two twin sofa sleepers in the living room can be used separately or pushed together to create a queen bed. You have everything in the condo that you need for a comfortable stay, from a designer kitchen to an iPod docking station. The large pool is beautiful, with lush palms and foliage surrounding it. There is a common area with a poolside BBQ and a rooftop lanai where you can watch the sunset over Chahue Bay. If you'd prefer to be waited on, just take a short stroll to the Beach Club Bar and Restaurant. Cielo is centrally-located and everything, including the airport, is just a short taxi ride away.

My wife, 14 yr old son, and I stayed at Cielo, Sueno del Mar for 9 days in August. I have only wonderful things to say about the condo, the owners, and Maria (the contact person in Hualtuco). The unit was exactly as described, well-appointed and spotless. Sueno del Mar is a beautiful facility, meticulously maintained, near the beach and within easy walking distance to town. The pool was gorgeous! We spent time everyday poolside admiring the surrounding flowers and birds. Danielle, the owner, was quick to respond to my emails and offered wonderful advise as to how to fully appreciate the condo and Hualtuco. Maria picked us up when we arrived in Hualtuco and was graciously accommodating to all our needs while we were in Hualtuco. Thank you Danielle and Maria for making our stay in Hualtuco such a wonderful experience!

This was my first time in Huatulco and I went solo. The condo is situated very central to everytihing within walking distance or short taxi rides. I did not rent a car, walked everywhere, felt very safe. The complex is perfect for a couple, with small children. Pool is impeccably clean, the staff and permanent tenants made me feel right at home and were very informative about everything you want to know about Huatulco from restaurants to the best butcher in town. I will be returning. Guaranteed HOT HOT HOT weather....

Dear Danielle, We had a great time -- weather in March was perfect. The apartment is attractive, very comfortable and well-equipped, and the tropical garden setting is gorgeous. The building staff was available and helpful and we found the neighbors to be welcoming and friendly. (We were invited to a participate in a poolside cocktail/ supper party soon after we arrived which gave us a nice chance to learn more about Huatulco from the 'locals'.) After a few very lazy days, we decided to rent a car in order to be able to visit other areas along the coast. We also hired a car and guide for a long day trip into the mountains to the coffee plantation La Gloria, situated on beautiful water falls and swimming pools. As for local restaurants, it seems nearby L'Echalote has declined somewhat, but we we really enjoyed dinner at Kristal Rose, and twice had dinner at Viana inTangolunda -- just across from Barcelo Hotel. It's owned by two Austrians who serve really good continental food-- which is nice if you get a little tired of Mex cooking. Thanks for sharing your bit of paradise with us.

Condo was great. Enjoyed drinks on the balcony every eve. And jumping in warm pool. Great location...short walk to beach + beach club....supermarket 15 min walk or $2 cab ride away....good choice of great restaurants....try Onyx in La Crucicita....Viena in Tongalunda....a few minutes by cab - or a very good french restaurant about 5 min walk from condo...can't remember its name but on a side street on the way to supermarket.... Best snorkeling in next bay. Safe, civilised but not overdeveloped. And, of course guaranteed warm/hot weather even in January with no risk of tornados. We shall return.

This was a wonderful condo to live in while we explored Huatulco. The immediacy for everything around the Bay area was fantastic. We rented a car and the parking area is gated, the condo has 24 hr. security. The pool is in beautiful with a sunny section and a shady section. Fantastic flowers , trees and shrubs. The condo was in mint condition with lots of towels, dishes and great Mexican decor. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We travelled to a lot of beaches and areas within a one hundred mile radius and never had any vehicle problems day or night. We have travelled to many destinations in Mexico and find this is the safest, cleanest, most relaxed, and the most beautiful part we have ever been in The beaches are to die for. We loved this condo and hope to stay again.

Positives: Pool was beautiful and everything was kept very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Plentiful taxis and very reasonable. Fantastic area! Loved Senor Puck's restaurant. Negatives: It was supposed to have service for six but there were only four plates of each size, which wasn't a big deal. No can opener. I couldn't get the DVD to work even though I had been left instructions. I checked with Miquel and he told me that to switch between TV and DVD, the TV had to be pulled out (it was in a tight space) and the three plugs removed and replaced with others. It was a real pain. There was a Mexican disco about three blocks away that blared horrible music (if you could call it music) Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. Even closing all the doors and windows and turning on the AC did not block it out.
