"Maison de la Riviere", The River House, transports you back in time to the days of lazy plantation manors nestled on the rivers of by gone days. Our home is situated on five wooded acres situated on the French Broad River located just outside the city limits of charming Brevard, NC. Just a short walk away you will find Key Falls, a charming waterfall in our “back yard”.
We are also proud to offer the use of our delightful neighbor’s, the Key Falls Inn Bed & Breakfast, tennis courts and fishing ponds. Of course, you can journey into the nearby Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Forest for hiking, rafting, tubing, rock climbing, horseback riding, bicycling, ATVing, picnicking, and miles of paved roads for scenic driving. There are so many waterfalls, over 75, that the area is nicknamed "The Land of Waterfalls."
In addition, there are several spectacular golf courses in the area, and the Glenn Cannon Golf Course is a mere five minute drive from the house. Our home is located a quick drive from Brevard, Hendersonville and Asheville where you will find an abundance of cultural delights; from art galleries in every media, live music, theatre, symphony, antiquing, and boutique shopping.
Maison de la Riviere has 4000 square feet of living area on two levels with central air/heat, along with three gas log fire places, three covered verandas, and four bedrooms, each with their own personality, plus four and a half baths to ensure ample convenience and comfort for you and your family.
The homes upper level has four bedrooms and three full baths. "The Peacock Suite" has a king sized bed with luxury memory foam mattress, gas log fire place, flat screen TV with DVD player, walk-in closet, and sumptuous bathroom with a two person jetted tub and large walk-in shower. "The Water Lily Suite" has a beautiful antique wrought iron bed with full size euro-top mattress, coupled with oriental antiques, this room a delightful, eclectic mix of east meets west.
"The Magnolia Suite" harkens back to an era gone by with a large oak antique bed with full size euro-top mattress and mahogany armoire. Both The Water Lily and Magnolia Suites have double French doors that lead out onto the upper covered veranda where you can relax in one of the rocking chairs; they also share the Rose Bathroom which boasts a large soaking tub. Down the hall you will find the "Pan Am Suite" which will take you back in time to the day in which world travel was glamorous and chic; there you will find a sumptuous queen size euro-top bed, plus TV/cable, and two dormer windows overlooking the wooded lawn.
On the main floor of our home you will find the formal dining room, plus a large eat-in kitchen that has a double oven and four burner gas stove. Other features include a study, formal living room with fire place overlooking the secret garden, and a large media room with a 52" flat screen TV, fire place and full bath.
