This cabin overlooks the merger of two beautiful streams, Laurel Creek and Elk Creek. Fishing is excellent at this cabin as Laurel Creek has great native trout and smallmouth bass populations and Elk Creek is a Class A state stocked stream which is rated as the second cleanest stream in all of North Carolina. Wildlife is also abundant as you can see deer, turkeys, beavers, fox and birds right on the property.

Elk Creek Hideaway is also one of the best values you will find in a cabin. For a romantic weekend you can rent just the main cabin (sleeps 2-4) for just $125 per night/$600 per week, or you can rent the additional unit that has two more bedrooms (sleeps 4 more) and an extra bathroom so you can bring the whole family for just $150 per night/$750 per week. beautiful / but it gets hot

Guest: live to love life (lexington NC )
Date of Stay: 06/13/09 Review Submitted: 06/12/11

The cabin and the view from the back was wonderful. The tap water smelled very strong of sulfer "a must to take alot of bottled water". This made it very hard to take a relaxing shower when you need to hold your breath. This wonderful trip was shadowed by the heat in the summer months. We had to get the other cabin to sleep"this was provided to us at no extra charge by the owner!" The main cabin bed room should have a independant window unit to keep it cool. The wonderfully relaxing days concluded with a dip in the hot tub and a wood fire grilled meal on the deck. The sound of the flowing stream is a constant back drop to the majestic wood line. CONCLUSION............other than the showers and the heat in the summer, this was a great destination.................................................................................................... I am not sure what my origional date of arival was, sorry

a great vacation cabin!

The cabin is very nice, clean, and comfortable- with everything you could possibly need. Really great hot tub! The setting is gorgeous, the river was so fun to relax by and go wading. Lots of places to go hiking and exploring nearby. I loved hearing the sound of the stream. Allowing dogs made it the perfect peaceful getaway.

The PERFECT Getaway!!

We were also not actually interested in this rental to start with, but since the one we wanted was already booked, the owner suggested this one. We were beyond pleased. I could not have asked for a better vacation getaway, especially for the price. The scenery and the drive to the cabin was beautiful. The cabin was very clean, cozy, and romantic. The hot tub was exceptionally clean, private, and overlooked the stream. There was a couple stayng in the cabin next to us, but it was at a far enough distance that we were not disturbed at all. It rained the whole weekend we were there, but we still enjoyed just relaxing inside. The owner was very helpful with giving us directions, suggestions on what to bring, and places of interest near by. I would recommend this property to anyone, and I can't say enough good things about it. We cannot wait to go back next year, and we plan on going back every year after that.

Caption true, but omits the most memorable details

Date of Stay: 03/11/11 Review Submitted: 03/15/11

This property was not the one I was initially interested in renting, but was steered by the owner towards it. Well, i wish I had passed it by. Although the cabin was "cozy" i.e. tiny and there were 5 acres, rushing trout stream, hot tub and we got it for a bargain rate, it also had no central heat, a second cabin a baseball throw away and water that is indescribable. Well describable in that the smell of sulfur was enough to turn your stomach and it never got better. The cabin was clean, but worn. As they say the devil is in the details which were missing. The cabin description and pictures led you to believe something much different was waiting for you. This was my first disappointing experience on vrbo. I would not recommend this property.

Fantastic Property

What a great property! The cabin was fantastic and the local property manager was very helpful in helping us get set up and settled in. I had numerous email conversations with the owner, who was more than helpful in getting payment details arranged and other pertinent information regarding our stay (directions from numerous points, general information about the area, proximity to stores, etc.). This was my first VRBO rental experience, and it could not have gone any more smoothly. I highly recommend this property (or any of the other properties associated with it) to anyone looking to get away from civilization, but who still be within 20-30 minutes of a town. The location is remote - just far enough out to provide a much needed escape from the hustle & bustle of city / town life - but not too far out. We were very happy with everything associated with our stay at the Elk Creek Hideaway - nothing could have been better. We hope to return to this property (or one of the other cabins) in the spring - hopefully, for an extended stay...

I stayed here for my 10 year anniversary in March 2010. The property was as it was discribed in looks. But it does not say anything about the harrible smell the water has (sewage smell). I was so afraid I was going to get a parasite from drinking the water and if you had to shower you best not be going any where nice because you would be afraid you would smelled like sewage. The beat part of all...... I arrived on a Monday and my Grandmother passed away that same day do you think I was offered anything back because I had to go back home... don't bet on it!! So you will know I'm not a person that trys to complain but I only wish someone a better trip than what I had.

Great Vacation

Guest: Luv mountains (Vanceboro, NC USA)
Date of Stay: 05/21/10 Review Submitted: 06/03/10

Was a great place enjoyed the fishing and area. We also like to hike and was close enough to the BRPW to be able to enjoy hiking. The Price Lake area was great (located on BRPW) boone fork trail (5 miles) was great if you like to hike. The creek located out back was great and actually had some good size fish in it. Relaxing atmosphere. My dog had plenty of room to run and play was great. Would return. The only thing I did not like was the bed was too firm to suit me but would still have to rate this property as excellent. The listing and description were accurate. Photos accurately reflected rental. Living room furniture a little shabby but we did not spend hardly any time in that area. We stayed mainly on the back porch which was GREAT! The property was overall clean and the area down by the fire pit was great. Could sit by the fire at night and listen to the stream was wonderful. (Carry your own wood or buy from area). This property is located a little distance from a store so would stop on the way in if you need anything. Have fun!
