Stay at the Zen retreat like house on the river!
Awe inspiring architecture!
Great for families, small and large groups, weddings, artists, musicians, yoga and spiritual retreats, people who want privacy and convenience too.
About 12 to 15 minute drive north of the Causeway, which spans Lake Ponchatrain and connects the north shore of the New Orleans area to the city proper). Secluded down a long private driveway, nestled on the river on acres of rolling hills, yet seconds from shopping, amenities, fire station, restaurants.
This is an awe inspiring house, very California modern (although still in decorated mid 70's decor).
Lots of windows and decks overlooking the river and the woods (this house is not recommended for small kids, who can fall off the decks)
Paradise for nature lovers, bicyclists, kayakers, dogs and dog lovers.
Lots of antique stores and restaurants around!

The St. Tammany Trace bicycle path is very close by. Downtown historic Covington is minutes away. The ICUMuseum is close by. Lots of farmers markets and quaint shops abound.

Based on the pictures I expected it to be nice &clean. I knew that it would not have a lot of furniture, and I was fine with that. What we walked into was a home full of spiders and cob webs. Dishwasher did not work. Bathroom was filthy. I had to leave the home and go to the local Walgreens to get cleaning products. I had to pay a cleaning fee but for what? The home was not clean upon my arrival. The owner of the home was there when we arrived with her 4 dogs, and they were trying to clean and do last minute things...We were supposed to stay from April 1-17, 2011 but we left early. Renter BEWARE!
Owner response:This review completely puzzles and upsets us. The renters asked for and received a significant discount when they first called in to book. They were supposed to stay for 17 days and yes, they left early---by ONE day (and they just left---didn't have the courtesy to call us and let us know). When theyfirst called to book, they requested additional amenities that the house did not already have, so we actually went and bought TVs and outdoor furniture for them and ordered satellite TV just for them (we had been using it more as a retreat and didn't have TV). We went to the house before they arrived to make sure the maid had cleaned it thoroughly, get the satellite TV installed, to bring the new pieces of patio furniture, and other items we had bought just for them that day, and to make sure the new TV service was working. When they arrived, they raced around saying they LOVED it (their words) and said everything was great. We were there when they arrived also to personally show them around and show them how to work the AC, lights, where the dock was, etc. We also introduced them to our neighbor who said he was right there if they needed anything. During their stay I called and texted several times to check in and make sure everything was ok and she said everything was great. Plus we never charged them a cleaning fee!---just a security/utilities deposit. Funny how when you think you're bending over to please people they can be so ungrateful. Fortunately the good karma and vibes of this very special house remain calmly and spiritually intact.
