Where to start .......hmmmm O.K so we decided to try Big Bear for New Years and found MCO's listing, when you first pull up to the CABIN it's huge and the nicest around and you want people to see you pull in and hope there is no paparazzi waiting for Dela hoya to get out. Walking in the front door is amazing all you see is a huge glass windowed wall with a view that leaves you speechless. The kitchen is Cheff Gordon Ramsey worthy, The bedrooms, I was lucky to get the Master in the main floor, very comfortable and spacey the bathroom felt like I was watching MTV CRIBS and I caught myself waking up multiple times at night to use it, well actually to feel the warm tiles on my feet. The game room downstairs can feel like the bramuda triangle and never come out with POOL,DARTS and ARCADE BASKETBALL, unless you are a Tombstone fan you can sneak out to use the batroom down stair, Doc Holliday practiced dentistry without a licence. Sunday football was epic on the high -def big screen above the fire place while we watched the kids sled down the hill for hours. Bye far the best New Years my family & friends have experienced. Thank you so much MCO for letting us use your wonderful home........P.S I branded all of my steaks....

First, let me say, this is not a cabin...this is a beautiful home! We recently stayed for the weekend and took in Oktoberfest. There were five couples, and everyone had a great time! We enjoyed walks through the quiet and peaceful neighborhood, as well as spending hours playing horseshoes in the backyard, while enjoying the beautiful outdoor surroundings. The home is close to everything, and was very spacious. Colleen was very easy to work with, and we definitely will consider returning for another visit to the Shasta Pines Lodge!

Company retreat

When I was looking for a quiet, secluded place to have a company retreat, my mind wandered to Big Bear. After much looking, I chose Shasta Pines Lodge. What an incredible place! Our party consisted of 4 couples, and the lodge had more than enough room for us all -- 5500 sq. ft. and 5 bedrooms. The two master bedrooms are amazing, and the great room is simply stunning. There is a sauna on the lower level, and the bathroom on the main-floor has a large tub, a walk-in dual-head shower, and two sinks. There is a very cozy library separating the master bedroom and the great room. Most of our time was spent in the impeccable well-equipped kitchen and great room. The large great room is well furnished with comfortable leather sofas & chairs, and overlooks the national forest. There is a very large TV right above a fireplace. Watching a movie while a fire roars is truly a relaxing experience. Whenever the outdoors called, there are numerous porches - one with a swinging chair. If you plan on sitting outdoors a lot, I would recommend bringing some additional chairs. There is also a horse shoe pit! And as it was summer, the hillside leading into the forest was dotted with red flowers (and many, many bunnies and chipmunks). The lodge is also very near the ski lifts, which run even during the summer for hiking and biking. Half of our party stole away for an afternoon to hike to the summit, and ride the lift down. A very scenic summer adventure! I can say without hesitation that I look forward to another stay at the lodge. Not only was Colleen a delight to work with, but the lodge itself immediately puts you at ease. The location next to the national forest is ideal, and the full log construction is amazing. An amazing, grand cabin!

Relaxing Summer Stay

Our summer stay at the Shasta Pines lodge was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. When you walk through the house for the first time, it is hard not to be in awe and to stop smiling... most of the time you hear "wow, look at this!" as people discover the themed bathrooms, huge kitchen with great appliances, and nicely decorated bedrooms. You can tell that the owners really love their cabin and took impeccable care in creating their own special retreat. There are no hand-me-down dishes, utensils, furniture or beds at this place. The house is perfect for families and children. There are plenty of things to do at the house for everyone, and we found ourselves hardly leaving the premises at all. When we did, a favorite thing to do was hike on the trail just down the street or take a short drive to the Moonridge Zoo. The cabin has an incredibly comfortable leather sofa in the great room and a nice plush sectional in the loft, both perfect for lounging around, especially since there are 2 big flat screen TVs in front of them. The pool table, horseshoe pit and basketball game were popular items for the kids and adults alike. But I must say that the best experience in renting this property was dealing with Colleen. She was excellent in keeping constant communication with us and was very accommodating with follow-up. We have rented several properties through VRBO and other owner vacation websites, and she was easily the best to deal with.

Let me just start by saying, WOW! This was the best vacation experience of our lives so far! We have never booked a vacation rental in this way before but working with Colleen was easy. She's such a nice and accomodating person, she really was there for us all the way! And the cabin? Amazing! Photos do not do it justice! When we walked in we were amazed at every detail. Leave your worries behind because it's covered! There is so much space in this home! We were 4 families with infants through teenagers and we fit so comfortably. We brought bassinets for our babies and each family had a room, the grade school boys had the cowboy room with twin beds and the teenage boys slept in the game room with their parents on the same floor in that bedroom. The way the house is designed everyone had their own space. The ground floor has a room and the game room, main floor has a library leading into a bedroom and the 3rd floor has the master bedroom a huge loft in between (it has a play kitchen and toys in a small corner where our toddlers had a great time playing!)and the room with the two twins is joined to the room with a full bed by a bathroom. Each family had our own bathrooms and showers. Oh, and the heat comes from the floors! It felt so good under your feet! We spent our days sledding with the kids in the backyard and our nights making smores and watching movies after the kids were in bed. The best time, the best cabin hands own. Stay here and you will not be disappointed. Seriously, we searched and searched before we found this cabin and with the beautiful log detail and fixtures in the bathrooms, Big Bear theme throughout the house on top of the ease of working with Colleen, you will not find better for the price! We are already planning a return for next year. Thank you Ohlman family for sharing your beautiful home with us! We hope to return year after year!

Like the other comments before me, Shasta Pines is truely heaven!! We too, have rented in Big Bear before, and nothing compares to the beauty and granduer of Shasta Pines. Each morning I could not wait to wake up and step into the great room to see the beautiful blanket of snow that had fallen. The views were truely spectacular. We spent 4 wonderful days in this luxury home with out children and grandchildren, 15 of us total. This place was perfect. Each room was unique and individual. Except for a few of the boys who left to go snowboarding, we never left the cabin. Why leave, when there was more than enough to keep us entertained right in our own backyard! And watching the Super Bowl on that huge Plasma T.V., boy was that great!! Colleen was a dream to deal with. Thank you Ohlman family for sharing your magnifecent home with us. We definately plan on returning again.

LIFE IS GOOD at Shasta Pines! As soon as you walk in and take in the incredible, awe-inspiring view out the “wall of windows” you will know that everything is as it should be. Shasta Pines is more than just a mountain cabin - it’s a luxurious HOME with everything you need to rejuvenate your spirit. The great room is grand; the game room downstairs is "kid heaven"; the huge fireplace warms your soul; the breathtaking view of the forest truly takes your breath away! Thank you, Thank you Ohlman family! .....life is good at Shasta Pines ...and if it's not ... it soon will be!

Looking for a wonderful mountain cabin? Look no further! This cabin is truly amazing. The cabin offered something for everyone in our family ranging in ages from 3 to 73. Each of the bedrooms was perfect for our group, especially the master bedroom on the main floor...allowing my mother to enjoy her own luxurious bathroom and fireplace without having to climb stairs. The teens in the group spent many hours playing basketball and pool in the game room downstairs and it was also a great place for them to bunk. The nicest feature during our stay had to be the great room. The huge plasma t.v. along with the cozy fireplace and toys for the kids were so wonderful. The best feature of the room had to be the wall of large windows. Not only were we able to enjoy incredible views of the forest, but we were able to watch everyone play in the snow while being warm inside! We have rented other cabins in Big Bear, but none have compared to this one. You truly have to see the place to appreciate all of the many unique features. The owners were so easy to work with and made us feel so comfortable in their mountain home. We plan on returning every year to celebrate my sons birthday at Shasta Pines Lodge!

I've read the two prior reviews and they can't be any more accurate. My family and friends have just spent the weekend there and I can only describe it as "Heavenly." The cabin is breath taking and amazingly decorated. My two years old daughter and I had such a blast going down the slope in the backyard. It is a very kid friendly place with plenty of toys for the little ones (as well as the adults). If you are looking for a place to spend quality time with family and friends without having to leave the cabin, this is the place. Colleen is an absolute pleasure to deal with and is very honest and upfront. Don't look any further because you can not go wrong with booking this cabin. The price is a bargain for what you are getting.

If you think the cabin photos look amazing... they truly don't do it justice! First off, Colleen was a dream to work with- so kind, accomodating, and prompt in returning my calls/emails..not to mention so patient with all my questions. I am extremely picky about accomodations/hotels but when I found this listing, I knew we had to stay here! I booked this cabin for a family weekend trip. When I opened the door to the cabin and everyone walked in, it went silent. Everyone was stunned. The panoramic windows throughout the home really make you feel like you are in another world. Words really cannot describe how stunning this home is- the attention to detail is remarkable and it was so clean, modern, and aesthetically pleasing. Needless to say, I did not want to leave the cabin the entire weekend. The girls had fun baking in the marvelous fully equipped kitchen, the guys took advantage of the sprawling space and played poker, watched movies, the older ladies hung out in the sauna and went hiking, the men enjoyed beer on the patio, the kids had fun sledding and building snowmen in the backyard that really is an open wilderness, ...there truly is something for everyone! Within an hour of our arrival and up until we left, everyone was asking me to plan the next trip. This lodge is luxurious and one of a kind, yet will make you feel at home. This home is one of those rare gems- once you find it, you want to keep it to yourself because once word spreads...you know everyone will be ON IT! Thank you for sharing your home with us! We can't wait to return.

My family, along with my sister and brother's families, as well as grandma and grandpa (7 adults, 5 children) spent 5 nights during Thanksgiving week in this absolutely stunning log cabin! Words cannot express the magnitude of luxury and comfort and amazing views that come with this vacation rental. Equivalent to a 5-star luxury resort, there are so many personal touches and features to this cabin that you truly get the sense that the owners also enjoy the cabin and spend a lot of time there. Upon arriving at the cabin, we instantly fell in love with its beauty on the outside. The minute you open the door and walk inside you find yourself in a piece of heaven. The smell of cedar wood tantalizes our senses and we gawk at all the wood so intricately placed. You get the TRUE feeling of being in a LOG CABIN. We put down our luggage immediately and found ourselves in awe. Just captivating!! My entire extended family was comfortable and there was plenty of room for everyone. With 5500 sq. feet, who can complain!? With that much space, the adults were actually able to have conversations and relax while the kids found themselves playing games, hide-and-seek, and of course hours in the game room or watching movies in the loft. We were very fortunate and got snowed in. How lucky we were!! It was truly a winter wonderland with floor to ceiling windows allowing amazing views, breathtaking!! At times, we found ourselves simply sipping our coffee and taking in the mountain views. We prepared our Thanksgiving feast in the incredible kitchen. Plenty of space to enjoy a memorable turkey day with our extended family. Every nook and cranny of this cabin made you feel special being there. In the backyard we had snowball fights, made elaborate snowmen and even created a sledding hill right behind the cabin. Grandma was able to watch all of her grandchildren play with the massive windows facing the back yard. There was an accessible hiking trail directly behind the cabin that made for some great hiking and the kids really enjoyed the basement game room downstairs!! We want to thank Colleen for her hospitality and attention to detail, as well as her superb communication. She was very friendly and extremely accommodating! Thank you Ohlman family for sharing your cabin with my family!! We can't wait for the next time ;) We feel honored to be the first to review your cabin! Warm Wishes, the Dempsey Family
