This was the perfect lake house for our family of 14 (8adults & 6 teens) Plenty of room inside, large screened-in porch & huge deck. The 1st night were were treated to a spectacular sunset and were lulled a sleep to the sounds of the waves lapping on the shore....AAaaaa. We are a family of great cooks, so we made good use of the well equipped kitchen and the gas grill. We brought most of our food as the IGA is 25 mins. away. (You can get bread, milk and eggs in the village.) Our favorite hangout was the sandy beach and fire pit for S'mores. (So glad we brought our kayaks and we used them every day. We had bikes too, but did not use them much) The Tunnel of Trees, pot pies from Good Hart General store, Zip line at Boyne Highland, shopping in Petoskey, Mackinac Is., Leggs Inn, we did it all and still had plenty of time on the lake. Early a.m. strolls along the shoreline looking for Petoskey stones and watching the bald eagles were my special "me" time. The owners are easy to work with and respond promptly to any questions or concerns. We left relaxed and refreshed and wanting to return.
Owner response:Nancy, I'm glad you had such a good time at our cottage and thank you for such a gracious review. You pretty much encapsulated our experience at the cottage during the warm weather. It's indoors and skiing during the winter. I hope you are able to come back next year. Greg

Pros - Very roomy house. Kitchen well equipped. Screened porch off of the master bedroom is a great place to read, catch a nap or visit with friends/family. Easy to get to with a couple of good restaurants nearby. Nice fire pit and sandy area near the water. Fun creek nearby and a short drive to "tunnel of trees" area by Harbor Springs. Family friendly setting with accommodating owner. Cons - Shallow water area full of rocks. Must go some distance offshore to swim. Only one TV for everyone to share. Needs dedicated cabinet space for renters. House starting to need some TLC/amenities to match the rental price.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

My family had a great time at the cottage. We have been renting in the area for many years and with this house we finally found a comfortable fit for our extended family of 13 people (8 adults, 5 kids). We liked staying in the same house rather than staying in multiple cabins which we have done in past years. There was plenty of room to spread out and have privacy when desired, yet it was also easy to share meals and to have family time all together. We hope to return next year!
Owner response:My wife and I are so glad you enjoyed the cottage. It was designed to allow for privacy in the bedrooms and outside perimeter and still come together in the Great Room or the downstairs Family Room. I'm glad that worked out for you. See you next year!

I want to tell you how much I liked your cottage! I was too grumpy, to be honest, to want to go anywhere. But the view of the Lake from the huge windows over the deck and my family all laughing made it surprisingly wonderful! I felt refreshed! I especially liked the smell of the trees. My 22 + year old nieces made Smores in the fireplace. We talked. We all swam together. It is times like your cottage that makes working worthwhile! Thanks! I highly recommend! Sincerely, Vince Ps, Next time we may go to Mackinaw Island for the day. We were too busy this time. Thanks Again, Vince
