Keywords:  Charming French Quarter Condo in Quiet Residential Section

Our newly remodeled and charming hide-away in the quiet residential section of the French Quarter is cozy and welcoming. And it's a wonderful place to call home while you explore New Orleans! Our Condo has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a living room with queen sleeper sofa if needed, and small kitchen. The exposed brick walls and fireplace (non-working) lend a historic feel to the suite. It offers the privacy and quiet to guests looking for a charming place to become a part of the life of New Orleans. Sleeps ONLY 3 Max.

Located in a very safe and secure area of the French Quarter, the building is one of New Orleans great examples of Greek Revival Architecture. It has a stately pillared porch, heavy cornices shadowed by wide, plain friezes, and bold simple moldings. It was designed by the same architect that designed the St Louis Cathedral and was built in 1847. The land it sits on was once a Barracks of the hospital built by the French Army. The Condo is on the 2nd floor with its own balcony overlooking the lush private courtyard. Both the Balcony and Courtyard are yours to enjoy while you stay. We're 1 block from Royal street for shopping, 2 blocks from Bourbon Street, and only steps away from dozens of great restaurants and neighborhood bars. The French Quarter is "made for walking." The blocks are small and compact. 2 Blocks to Decatur Street and the French Market. 4 blocks to Jackson Square and the Cathedral. There is so much to see and do and you can walk to Pat O'Brien's, Cafe du Monde, or Bourbon Street. Our little escape is a great place and we hope you'll enjoy the "City That Care Forgot."

Located two streets away from Bourbon, and 4 Streets over from St. Ann, within a 5-7 minute walk you can be at OZ, Bourbon Pub and Parade, Good Friends, Rawhide, Napoleon's Itch, The Clover Grill, and Lafitte's in Exile. Close to several small grocery stores and liquor stores too!

Start your day in the Courtyard with Mimosa's, coffee, or beignets. Enjoy leisurely walking the Quarter, a Steamboat Ride on the River, and cocktails on the balcony before dancing the night away on Bourbon Street or listening to some of the country's best Jazz Musicians at clubs within blocks of the unit. The City is one of America's Jewels and can be your for exploring and falling in love with. Don't blame us when you want to return to her again and again and again!

No Pets, No Smoking. Coin operated washer and dryer available on the property. Secure gated entrance prevents unauthorized access onto the property. Parking is available in the French Market Lot, where you can park and walk a short 2 blocks back and forth from the unit to your car.

The condo also contains a comprehensive Video Library of movies filmed in and about New Orleans for your viewing pleasure! We know, we know - you don't come to New Orleans to stay inside and watch TV. But who knows when a rainy day, a unexpected illness, or the exhaustion of "playing Tourist" just demands that you slow down for a bit? We have (and are constantly on the look for) movies that were filmed in New Orleans. Some are great, some are cheesy, some have super music, and all have wonderful scenes of New Orleans past that you'll never be able to see any other way. So look through the catalog (that is constantly updated) and pick a thriller, a romance, a jazz documentary, or a Swashbuckling adventure with Jean Lafitte and pop it in the DVD and enjoy yet another perspective of New Orleans! You won't find this amenity any where else! And if you have any information about films shot on location in New Orleans we will be delighted to add to our knowledge of New Orleans Film History. She is becoming the "Hollywood of the South" again for good reason. But the first films were shot here in 1898 and there is a great body of work worth seeing.

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2009

We are a group of friends who love New Orleans and love going to New Orleans so much that we bought a condo in the French Quarter! We are not able to go more than 2-3 times a year each, but wanted to be a part of this Great City. So we looked and shopped for almost 2 years before taking the plunge to become Vieux Carre property owners. We don't regret this decision and will use the unit as much as we can.

The Unique Benefits of this Condo

The restaurants within walking distance. The great Jazz Clubs. The history, the museums, the art. New Orleans is just such a great city!

Great location and the apartment had a very nice layout; it was perfect for our long weekend in New Orleans and we would come back again. Owner was extremely helpful with tips about parking, sightseeing, etc.

A gem in an ideal location

We stayed here 6 nights and loved this place. The location is absolutely perfect. Very close to the action but very quiet. Communication with the owners was great and the place really had everything we needed. We will definitely stay here again when we return to NOLA. The only issue we had was the cold - the heater in the living area didn't really heat the place and it was cold. This was only a problem for one evening. But I'm still giving this condo 5 Stars as the exceptional cold in New Orleans during our December visit was... well, exceptional!

A group of friends and I were in New Orleans to celebrate my birthday and Halloween this year and found the perfect accomodations for the 6 of us between this condo and another just a block down. The location could not be better. This was my third trip to New Orleans and I have stayed both right on Bourbon Street and also just a block up from it and will definitely be back to this condo on our next visit. Bourbon is nice for being close to all of the bars, etc. if you're there to party, but it's also just a short walk away and on this last trip we actually discovered a lot of areas we had never really been to on previous visits which we really enjoyed. The French Market was so close and perfect for breakfast (Muffalettas are amazing too!), Frenchmen's was so convenient, and we also spent a lot of time on Decatur which we had not done before with lots of great spots to stop in for a drink or a meal (Crescent City Brewhouse was our favourite and an amazing deal with the 2 for 1 entree coupon you can find online!) We also spent a lot of time at Margaritaville which is just a block away and has a great happy hour every day from 5-close that includes hurricanes and mojitos as a bonus! The condo itself is beautiful and very clean and comfortable (another couple we were with were actually the ones staying in it, but I'm definitely going to be booking there the next time my boyfriend and I go back) - they loved it though, no complaints whatsoever. I had the pleasure of working with Bill though to arrange everything and he is one of the best owners I've ever dealt with. He provided so much info on New Orleans to us, was very prompt with emails/calls, checked in on us to make sure all was well, and even returned the security deposit to my credit card the very day we returned which is always nice! We will absolutely be back, New Orleans is such an amazing place to be!

Exactly as promised

Date of Stay: 11/17/11 Review Submitted: 11/26/11

This is a great place for 1-2 people who want to stay in the French Quarter. Owner was very accessible and responsive, and everything was as promised. A couple of blocks from Bourbon St. and variety of restaurants in different directions, but removed enough that it's also very quiet. I was there for a conference on Canal St., which is about 10 blocks away. It was a long walk (about 15 min.), but it was a nice walk and I enjoyed being removed from the conference scene. If I came to New Orleans again, I would not hesitate to rent this condo - in fact, I would look forward to staying here.

1 Guy and 2 Girls, There were 3 of us there in New Orleans for a Week. I Don't Think I Could have Made a Better Choice of a Place to Stay. It was Every Thing The Listing Said it Was. I had Been to New Orleans Several Times in The Past and always Stayed In Hotels, and There are some Nice Hotels in The Quarter and Each one Had it's Pluses. But This Time I Thought maybe a Condo With a Bedroom would Give The Girls More Privecy. And Very Glad We Went that Way, Location was Good, Short Walk To Anyplace in The Quarter. The Girls always felt Safe (they went Out On There own a Bit). The Condo is Stocked with everything one Could Need. Anytime I Needed Any Information The Owner Always was There With The Answers I Needed. I Know I'll Stay There Again, And Highly Recomend it.

Unbelievable find in the French Quarter!

Guest: Santa Cruz (santa cruz california)
Date of Stay: 07/04/11 Review Submitted: 07/15/11

We stayed here July 4-7, 2011. Having never been to NOLA, we totally did not know what to expect. I have used VRBO before and have always been pleased-this time I must say I was elated! The condo is in the nicest residential part of the French Quarter-close to everything (the French Market, Cafe Du Monde, Bourbon St., several very famous people have houses within 1 block of the condo-literally across the street). We met a lot of locals around the neighborhood - all very friendly and wanted to know where we were from and had a story to tell us-I loved that. The condo itself was perfect for the my husband, son and myself. We were very comfortable there and felt safe. We heard nothing at night despite being so close to everything. We were on a budget so tried to eat at least one meal there which we could do because of the fully equipped kitchen. A friend of mine was in NOLA for 3 nights leaving on the 4th. She and family stayed in a hotel. When I told her what we paid per night and the location and all we got, she could not believe it-she paid over $300/night for their hotel room! (She had taken a tour and knew exactly where our condo was!) Bill was so easy to work with and helpful sending us info and there was a map in the condo of markets close by. II got an email from him 3 days after we left that he had refunded our security deposit. I couldn't have been more pleased.

Well located and comfortable holiday condo

We spent a week in the condo and found it a great place to stay for exploring the city. It is close to the sights in the French Quarter, convenient for public transport and only a short walk to a small supermarket. The condo is well appointed and provides amenities often not found in holiday apartments like a safe, good storage and a well equipped kitchen.

Perfect Location Great Accomodations

Guest: Traveling Traveler (Elk Grove, CA)
Date of Stay: 04/21/11 Review Submitted: 06/17/11

The condo is reasonably priced and in a great location to walk to most attractions or the trolley stops. It is nicely decorated and comfortable. Everything is in working order and the grounds are very quaint. It is quiet yet in the heart of the French Quarter. I couldn't recommend it more and Brad Pitt's New Orleans home is just around the corner so you might even get in a celebrity sighting.

We enjoyed our stay here immensly - it is a beautiful condo. A bit small, but exactly right for what 2 people might need. Fantastic location, you can walk anywhere, including the trolly line. Everything was fully functional. We were there when it was unseasonably hot, and one of the 2 air conditioners went out. The second unit was able to keep the condo comfortable enough, and we called the owner, and the unit was replaced with a new one within 24 hours, at no inconvenience to us. A lovely place to stay, we would definately stay there again. thank you!
