The Residency House Artist Retreat is a guest house on 3 acres in Downtown 'Andrews, NC' snuggled in the mountains. This is a unique place to visit and stay. The Residency House Artist Retreat is in a 'museum' showcasing international and 'nationally acclaimed' artists who are masters in painting and/or sculpture along with great success in other medias.
The Areca Project, which is a 'studio retreat' and teaching workshop facility is also on the campus. Bring your paints and easels as this property is ready for you to enjoy its outside workspaces. Call for upcoming seminars and exhibits to coordinate your visit.
If you are of the discerning persuasion, who would love to sleep in a 'Fine Arts Museum', then this is a luxury and experience you should get used too. If you are an artist who is looking for a retreat where you can stay among other artists, or if you are just looking for something very cool and new, then this is a must see spot.
Each suite in the 'Guest house' is a full suite with a bath, a sitting room and a bedroom. The kitchen is always stocked with fruit, snacks, lots of yummy frozen homemade dinners for midnight snacks, but in the mornings Tom has a light breakfast ready at 8:45 of fruit, yogurt, breads, soft boiled eggs, cereal and Areca's special recipe oatmeal.
You can be on your own for lunch or ask us to make you a gourmet picnic to take with you on your excursions into the surrounding countryside or just into the back yard studio. Dinner is the same deal: adventure out, make your own or ask Tom to arrange something special.

I grew up in south Florida and have now found my way to the mountains. Once I saw the Cherokee valley nestled in the Snow bird mountains I knew at once that is where we would go. Having studied in Miami, England and DC, I am happy to be in the small friendly town of Andrews to paint and raise my family.
