2 Deer Cabin is an ode to the greatest of outdoors, a classic Western mountain house of thick beams, natural woods, rich colors and soaring ceilings. This is a home meant to host happy occasions, perfect for families with children, or friends vacationing together. 2 Deer sits by the side of a grass-fringed pond in the spectacular 3 Creek Ranch community, where homes are gathered, village-like, in the middle of 700 acres of breathtaking rangeland below the rocky steeples of the Tetons.
Inside, 2 Deer is a sunlit progression of airy spaces and robust stonework, hardwood floors and brilliant rugs. The stone-floored foyer opens into a living room that is itself a portal to the mountains just beyond the windows. Under the vaulted wood ceiling and thick rafters, there is a two-sided stone fireplace with massive chiseled lintels that forms the division between the living room and the dining room and kitchen.
From the long wood table in the dining room, one can see both the fire and the stunning view beyond the den windows. The den has its own snug seating area and a tv hidden inside a cabinet. Just off the dining room is the bright, well-stocked kitchen, which centers around a massive, gleaming Viking cooking center. Two dishwashers handle the clean-up, a deep pantry stores the supplies, and windows look out to the south and the east. Outside, the stone terrace has cushioned wicker armchairs and space to spread out, play, and talk late into the evening. Chairs are set by the edge of the pond as well, the better to hear the nightly summer symphony of crickets and frogs.
The master bedroom suite is on the first floor of 2 Deer, an expansive room with French doors that open to the terrace, the lawns and the mountains. A king bed with a subtle flowered spread faces a pair of deep red armchairs, and a flat screen television. The master bath has a soaking tub with clear views of the unfolding range outside, a separate shower, and a stone-topped wood vanity. Upstairs, there is a second master suite, with its own balcony and a decadent bathroom with a deep clawfoot tub and separate shower. This suite also has a big glass and timber table - an ideal spot to spread out the morning paper, board games, a puzzle or a laptop computer.
At the southern end of 2 Deer Cabin are two lovely, light-filled bedrooms, just right for children. The first has a queen bed set low to the floor, to make it easy for young ones to climb in and out, and a child-sized chair and private bathroom. Lots of open floor provides plenty of space to play. Next door is the second children’s room, with a trundle bed and private bath, and a comfortable chair with a reading lamp for bedtime stories. Outside, there is a world of swaying grasses, a stream for wading, a pond for fishing, and the great mountains that seem to mark the edge of the earth. 3 Creek Ranch has a wealth of activities in all seasons: tubing in the streams, biking, golfing, swimming; skiing and snowshoeing. The cabin has ample storage space for sporting equipment, a mudroom to deposit boots and coats, and a laundry room so clothes will always been ready for the next day. The whole family is welcome at 2 Deer Cabin - even the dog. There’s nothing like heading out for a walk in the morning, sunrise making a peony of the sky, the dog bounding joyfully ahead into the great wild valley.
