Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2003

We spent our honeymoon in Hawaii and from that first trip we knew we would be back several times. After many trips back to Hawaii, we finally took the plunge and purchased our own Hawaiian home. It was the best investment we ever made. We love our little piece of paradise.

Why the Owner Chose Kiahuna Plantation

After walking on to the property of Kiahuna Plantation Resort, we knew that this property meant Hawaii to us. Swaying palm trees and the beautifully kept grounds and no large hotel. This truly was Hawaii!

A piece of Paradise

We spent a wonderful week in this unit. It was very comfortable with terrific ventilation throughout and the decor was attractive with furnishings providing lots of space for us to stow our things while we stayed there. The kitchen was well equipped and the shower blissful. The traffic noise mentioned by another reviewer was not present, and we found the proximity to parking (and shaded parking, at that) very convenient. Kiahuna Plantation in general is such a relaxing and beautiful place. We always enjoyed our 2 minute walk to the beach because the grounds are so pretty and well tended, with the wonderful spreading trees offering shade, scent, and flowers throughout the place. The beach was terrific, and beckoned each morning at sunrise with the promise of a stroll down to Poipu Beach park along the beach and path, where we could admire the strutting roosters and the hens with their broods. Kauai is a glorious place to visit. We'll certainly stay at Kiahuna, and this unit if we get another opportunity.

The perfect vacation getaway!

We had a wonderful week on the island of Kauai! The condo unit was perfect for my wife and I. It had all of the amenities we needed and way more space than a regular hotel room. The Outrigger Plantation is a beautiful place. The beach is a short walk away and if you get sick of the waves crashing you can head up to the great pool and hot tub. Kauai is an awesome vacation destination. There is plenty to see and do and if you feel like doing nothing it is a great place for that too!

Perfect condo on a beautiful island!

We enjoyed a long week at your super nice condo and enjoy it very much! The condo was perfect for us and our two young kids, the kitchen cooking equipment was more than sufficient and we found everything we needed to cook every day for the whole family. The condo is super clean and the silent ceiling fans let the air flowing nicely, though that the temperature even on hot days was quite fair. I can not share the concerns of traffic noise nor the shutter openings. We heard more the roosters outside than any cars. The resort itself is just beautiful and like a little place in heaven! Wide open with nice palm trees and flowers, perfect greens and nice BBQ spots in front of the condo or directly on the beach. Did you ever dream of a sunset BBQ on a postcard pretty beach? It is right there! The Beach is beautiful and the little public beach to the west has nice Palm trees which provide nice shadow to survive a sunny day on the beach. You will also find a beach umbrella in the condo. The same part of the beach can be seen partially from the condo lanai itself. Not to forget the nice pool across the street with a nice kids area, where our son spend hours in the water and gave us a hard time to get him out. The bar serves very delicious cocktails to get through the heat. A big thanks for you guys to share your little paradise with us!

Except for the traffic noise

The unit is nicely decorated and reasonably comfortable. The view is like the second to last pic and also of beautiful trees. Our only real complaint was that the owner was less than forthcoming when we specifically asked about traffic noise. Not only can you hear the road noise from you unit, you can see the cars through the hedge. Additionally, there are parking areas to the rear and the side of this unit. Since the bedroom is in the rear (the road side) this proved to be an issue for us. Also, be clear that there is no housekeeping included with this rental. If you want it there is an extra fee paid to the resort. There was a reasonable amount of cooking equipment, but some not in the best of shape if you cook a lot which we did. The fridge makes tons of ice! There is cabled internet, but no wi-fi. The activities desk folks will print your boarding passes for free. The tradewinds and the ceiling fans kept the place comfortable. The only problem if you are shy is that the louvers on the large shutters and windows must be open to let in the air flow. At night this allows a view into the unit when the lights are on unless the louvers are nearly closed.

Owner response:I have been renting my condo for several years and have always received positive comments. I take great pride in my condo and I am always updating it for future guests.

This is our 6th visit to Kauai and Kiahuna Plantation. We have enjoyed our stay in your unit. The shower is beautiful! Thank you for the ceiling fan in the living room. It is wonderfully quiet.

We returned to Kiahuna because of the convenience to the Kauai Marathon start line. After the run yesterday, we had a small gathering of six adults and two kids and there is ample room for all. We like the ocean view from the lanai! Looking forward to the 3rd annual Kauai Marathon in September, 2011.

Koloa Condo, Great place to stay!

Guest: Christy (Brentwood, CA)
Date of Stay: 08/02/10 Review Submitted: 08/13/10

We stayed for eight days at this property. I found the rate extremely reasonable. The beach that is a two minute walk away is great! Amazing snorkeling about 20 feet off shore, you can also rent snorkel gear at the on site “Beach Hut”. The week we went the surf was “high” on the entire South Side of Kauai. I was told this isn’t normal, even with high surf, I was able to enter and exit the water, although another person in my party was not. It would have been challenging for small children. There are two other beaches, including one “bay” that is within walking distance that would be amazing for children. The Bay is a County park, and has NO waves, and is enclosed. We saw Sea Turtles and Monk Seas at Poipu Beach (the beach in front of the condo). The kitchen was well stocked, and overall the unit was clean. Our favorite part of this condo is the location, you can walk to a bunch of great restaurants, bars, Starbucks, and shops. A couple days we ventured to other beaches, hotels/resorts, and the “mall” across the street, really a superb location. There were only a couple things that were not perfect. The unit does not have AC, which I don’t think is a necessity on this island, on Maui it is. We did get hot one day, but went for a beach walk to cool down. On Friday nights you can hear the Luau at the Sheraton, pretty loud we thought, and since there is no AC, we sleept with all the windows open. We all went to bed by nine, and got up super early! If you stay up no worries, and the Luau was over by 10, so if you stay up or go out no problem. The service at the resort was GREAT! Overall this unit is amazing, and a superb deal! I will stay here again!
