My fiancé, myself, and two other couples stayed at the carriage house for a long weekend in St. Augustine. We were down for a wedding with a group of 40 to 50 people. The house was within walking distance to the downtown area which was great. We didn’t use our car once! The house was nicely decorated and clean. We had several friends stop by the house while during the weekend. Almost every one of them said, “I wish I had stayed here instead of my hotel”. If you are coming with friends or other couples, this is the place to stay in St. Augustine.

We used this place as command central when my daughter recently graduated from college. It is cozy, charming, decorated really neat, and has every comfort of home you could possibly imagine, it seemed that Brigid must have put a lot of thought into making it just right. We especially appreciated the coffee in the cupboard, all ready to brew up in the morning. This place is within walking distance of everything, and as parking is often a problem, that is a consideration. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and would definitely rent this again.

My wife and I spent one week at the Carriage House during early April 2012. We had a wonderful vacation! The Carriage House is charming, and well-located just a few blocks from great restaurants, bars, and Flagler College. The Carriage House was very well-equipped; Brigid seems to have thought of everything a traveler would hope to find. The only reason we used our car during the entire week was to drive to the beach. (We found Crescent Beach to be the best for walking -- the wide flat sandy beach is perfect and there's a free municipal parking lot right at the beach. The beach at Anastasia Park is also very nice -- no houses there -- but there is an 8 dollar charge per car.) We wondered whether St. Augustine would keep us entertained for an entire week. No problem there! Excellent restaurants and bars abound. And all within an easy mile-or-less walk from the Carriage House! We found the Carriage House decor to be casual, comfortable and pleasing. It was very clean and stocked with plenty of extra towels, toiletries, cooking spices, etc. Brigid was very prompt in replying to emails and helped make the trip very easy to organize. Our security deposit was returned promptly. We've stayed in self-catering holiday rentals all over the US and Europe; this experience ranks among our best. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and plan to return to St. Augustine soon.

There is one word to describe our stay at the Carriage House, PERFECT. We had planned a family vacation that would encompass the history and the beauty of St. Augustine. We arrived on a perfect day to find the perfect location in the old part of the city. The lovely Carriage House is located on a street lined with huge ancient oak trees with beards of Spanish Moss. The off-street location offered privacy while we watched cyclists, horse drawn carriages and people strolling past from our vantage point on the upstairs balcony. The house is lovely and a perfect blend of history and comfortable convenience. We felt at-home as soon as we entered. There was plenty of privacy for all six of us. Brigid and Barry thought of everything from a kitchen stocked with all the necessities, to bedrooms and bathrooms stocked with linens, and a washer and dryer. We spent every evening on the second floor balcony as the beautiful day turned to evening. The house is within easy walking distance to all downtown historic sites and activities, as well as a short car ride to the beaches and attractions. We would highly recommend the Carriage House to any vacationers as the Perfect destination.

This renovated Carriage House is a real gem! Beautiful, fully stocked and CLEAN! Amazing Live Oak tree graces the sweet second floor porch, on which we spent most of our time lounging. Quiet verdant side garden with table, chairs and lighted umbrella for night dining. Very nice comfortable furnishings, including mattresses & pillows. Short walk to Flagler College and downtown. We highly recommend!

We stayed at the Carriage House for a week with two other adults (4 total) and found it to be comfortable, clean and within easy walking distance to almost all downtown St. Augustine attractions. Among our favorite activities during the week: a visit to Castillo de San Marcos (fort), Ghosts and Graveyard tour, Flagler College (don't miss it!), Whetstone Chocolate Factory tour (yum!), riding bikes on the beach, and just hanging out on St. George Street. We always started our day by enjoying coffee on the beautiful front porch. As other reviewers have mentioned, Brigid's home is very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Thank you for an an enjoyable week!

What a beautiful city for a wedding. My daughter's Feb. 4th wedding was held at the White Room in Historic Downtown St. Augustine. Coming from St. Louis, my husband and I wanted to be in the city a week before the wedding. We wanted someplace comfortable, within walking distance of the venue, and something that could accommodate other members of our family. Luckily we found the Carriage House! This charming house met all of our needs and more. The location is perfect and we were able to walk almost everywhere. The house sits back off the street with beautiful moss covered trees and a lush feel. We took advantage of the umbrella covered patio and the second floor porch. Sitting outside in the evening we would occasionally see a horse drawn carriage go by. The twinkling outside lights added to the charm. Inside, the house is so comfortable and well thought out. Each room has its own charm and the bedrooms have good storage, closets, and plenty of fresh linens. The living space is well designed and we were able to work on all of our last minute wedding projects ( assembling 150 Welcome Bags, etc.) with no problem. So, the wedding was beautiful, the weather was beautiful, and our stay at the Carriage House truly gave us a home away from home. We highly recommend staying here. I know, we'll be back. My husband and I arrived from Tennessee for the long MLK weekend. We were joined by some good friends from South Florida...with the exception of my husband, we were all new to St. Augustine. First off, from all the reviews, we heard we were within walking distance of Historic St. Augustine. Absolutely yes! We walked EVERYWHERE except to the grocery store and the St. Augustine lighthouse! In fact, on Sunday morning, my husband and I got up to jog...and we didn't know distances (we like to jog 2-3 miles/day), so we decided to just jog to Castillo de San Marcos and back. What a wonderful jog! And getting to do it right as the sun was trying to break through over the water. In other words, as long as you don't mind about a mile walk, yes, you can even walk to the fort from the house! The house was so cozy. Since there were only two couples, we were able to split. My husband and I took the downstairs and that bathroom, the other couple took the upstairs bedroom and that bath. We commented several times about how homey Barry and Brigid had made the house and how not a single space was wasted. My husband and I told them we would try to be there by 5...well, with the drive from Tennessee, we arrived about 4:45. We knew absolutely everything was fresh and clean because we saw Barry and Brigid pulling out of the house and they wished us a wonderful weekend :-) (sorry about pushing the schedule up, though!!) We loved Schmagel's Bagels for breakfast on Saturday! They just LAYER the cream cheese on it for you! We also had Pizza Time on St. George's St. for dinner. Yum! (but they only take cash...though there is an ATM available in the shop). All around, it was a wonderful trip. There is enough room to spread out, but it's small enough to feel cozy. Oh, and we LOVED the lights that popped on outside each night! :-) Thank you for sharing your home with us!!

My husband and I came down with another couple to celebrate our 14th anniversary and see St. Augustine at Christmas time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Carriage House. Both me and my friend own horses so it was neat to watch the carriage horses go by and we even got to see them training a horse. The history of the house was also interesting to us. The house is great , has a lot of character. It's tucked away under a huge oak tree and the balcony was awesome to just kick back on and watch everything. It is very comfortable and has everything you will need. Also, Brigid is very helpful. She has made up a book that has all the information you need at your finger tips. We walked to everything most of our trip. Some of my favorite restaurants are: Hot Shot Bakery, Granada St. (great lemonade, breakfast wraps, cookies & staff), Bunnery Cafe, Saint George St. (great french toast), Athena, Cathedral Place (great waffles) Carmelo's Pizza, King St. beside the gas station (really good food and the best staff), The Floridian, Cordova St,(really good food), OC Whites Seafood, Avenida Menendez (really good food & atmosphere). I would eat at the Floridian & OC Whites early in your trip in case you want to go back. My favorite activities were a carriage ride with Roosevelt & Rufus (the best & they are on youtube), the ghost tour, ghost tours of St. Augustine, Saint George St. I recommend doing the ghost tour & carriage ride early in your trip. They both give you a lot of history of the city and you see things you may want to do. I love history so I enjoy doing most things in St. Augustine even just walking around looking at the buildings. The fort is interesting and it's worth it to walk in and see the largest indoor pool in the Lightner museum. There is so........much to do I could go on and on. The weather was perfect for us and the Christmas lights in the city are absolutely gorgeous. What a wonderful trip! Didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back. I forgot to mention Whetstone chocolates on King St., Oh my Gosh! Thanks Brigid!

We stayed in this lovely house for a wedding in October, we could not say enough nice things about it. Comfort and cleanliness were the words that best describe it.....We were so happy we made the decision to stay in this house instead of the hotel. Brigid was great to deal with and we would stay again if were ever in this area again.

My wife, son (6) and I stayed a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. We didn't realize how close everything was and got in the car for dinner the first night. When we saw how close the restaurants were we brought the car back and walked. We walked to most everything the rest of the week. We brought two bikes for us and a trailer bike for our son. We spent one day riding all the streets in the historic district looking at the old homes and went to lunch at Meehan's. The Carriage House was clean, quiet and close to most everything that we wanted to do. Our son thought it was "cool". We would rent it again. Our favorite attractions (we did not get to all of them); the fort, pirate museum and the lighthouse. We were not thrilled with the live music scene until we saw Lonesome Bert and the Skinny Lizards at the Florida Cracker Cafe. Great group of veteran musicians playing covers and their own original songs. Restaurants we had dinner at and liked; A1A Aleworks (twice), Meehan's, OC Whites, Scarlett O'Haras. Although there are not many bike lanes around the city we found it easy and safe to get around. We stayed off the two busiest streets, King and Avenida Menendez, and used the sidewalks. Everywhere else we rode in the street. Great way to tour the historic district and see all the great houses.

We spent a lovely weekend at the Carriage House. It was charming, convenient and we had a wonderful time. Take bicycles...we really enjoyed riding through town as well as walking. The location was so nice because it was away from the downtown traffic, but close enough to walk to the restaurants, etc. We would definitely stay here again if we return to St. Augustine.

My husband and I stayed at the Carriage House for 5 nights in April 2011, and we are already looking ahead to when we can go back. The house has everything you could want, the location is perfect - close to everything but on a quiet residential street, and the owners have provided everything for your comfort and enjoyment. We loved going out and exploring the city and beaches, but couldn't wait to get back to the house!

My family stayed at the Carriage house in April 2011. There were 5 adults and 2 children. Everything we needed was there, the house was spotless and roomy. We especially enjoyed the upper deck, it was safe for the children 2 & 3 years old and comfy. We enjoyed watching the birds and squirels in the trees and the horse carriages out on the street. The bedrooms were very comfortable and quite for sound sleeping. Thank you for a great vacation.....

If you have any hesitation at all about staying in this home, PLEASE erase it now! We can't even express how absolutely perfect this home was for our stay in St. Augustine. The pictures on this site are accurate but honestly don't do the home enough justice. It was like we walked onto an HGTV set because it was so inviting. The house is full of character and has a great history to it. All the touches that Brigid has thought of and placed into the home made our stay so relaxing - we felt spoiled. When planning our trip, we actually considered sharing a hotel room but with the FL Carriage House, we were able to enjoy an adorable home with three bedrooms, living room, dining room, two bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, large spacious foyer area plus three lovely outside spaces! The front upstairs porch which automatically lights up at night is a great place to drink wine and enjoy the view. The side deck with its table and umbrella that will light up as well (just turn on the switch) was perfect for outside dinners and conversation. There are two beautiful bedrooms downstairs and one also upstairs which provides privacy for families staying together. I was lucky to stay in the huge downstairs bedroom which has an inviting, cozy sitting room area. There is a washer and dryer on the first floor as well. The kitchen is adorable and equipped with anything you need - pots, pans, dishes, cups, wine glasses, more spices than you can count, condiments in the full size frig, even coffee to brew in either of the two coffee pots! There is Directv with DVR and a DVD player. The home is within walking distance to the downtown square and most sightseeing spots. There are even a couple of trolley stops just a few blocks from the home. You can just jump on the Old Town Trolley and purchase tickets at a stop along the way! The St. Sebastian Winery is also within walking distance and the trolley stops there. Make sure you get off at the stop for a tour of Memorial Presbyterian Church. It is quite breathtaking. We enjoyed all the food and ambiance along St. George Street. One place you might miss but SHOULD NOT is O'Steens resaurant across the Lions Bridge for great seafood & homemade pie. As we were sightseeing, we looked into some of the bed and breakfasts and other hotel options and were so thankful we had made the decision to stay here! You will too!

My husband and I rented this home instead of the usual B&B we reserve annually in the historic district and I am so delighted we did! We stayed the week of November 20-28th. It was just like a B&B, very cozy and quaint! The best part was we were able to share it with our family. We all had a wonderful time touring the city on our bikes and walks to enjoy the lights, that are beautiful this time of year! I loved sitting on the porch and having my coffee and enjoying the occasional carriage ride passerby. The beds were super comfy and the house had all the little details! I cooked and served our Thanksgiving meal and we set up on the side porch and it was perfect! Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I spent one week exploring St. Augustine in November, from our 'home away from home', the lovely and welcoming Carriage House. This place is terrific - it has absolutely everything you are likely to need (except for your food of course!) Bonus to me? The washer & dryer! The furnishings were cozy and comfortable, the house in great shape, and pristine. In all, very very comfortable, thanks to Brigid & Barry for the little extra touches available in the house. We wanted to stay in a house within walking distance of restaurants and sites, and this place fit the bill perfectly. Most evening meals we ate were in easy easy walking distance of the house (our favourite was Old City House Inn, on Cordova); only one we had to drive to, which was also good (Conrads Steak House). It was also easy to get to things you needed, like grocery stores and great outlet shopping, and many small, unique shops & galleries. But mostly, we explored the historic city, such as the Lightner Museum (which also had some great antique shops in the facility), the Dow Museum (9 old houses - my favourite) and others on St. George St. The Fort was cool too. We drove to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainsville one day, which was supreme - we make a point of finding botanical gardens everywhere we visit. And one day was a drive to Daytona Beach, just to say "yes we saw the ocean" (we're not beach people...also, we drove over the intercoastal waterway to the St. Augustine beaches but did not stop anywhere in particular). The rest of the time was spent in St. Augustine. My husband did play golf while I had a treat at a local spa (Small Indulgences on Sanchez) I took a ton of photo's of my favourite topic: doors & gates, old architecture and historical venues. All in all, a great week! Thanks again, Brigid! We hope to see you next time we visit St. Augustine.

I do not have enough wonderful things to say about this house! It is clean, cozy, stocked with everything you could need to feel at home, and perfectly located in the heart of all the fun of St. Augustine. The Carriage House captures the spirt of Floridas oldest city and made our vaction all the more memorable. My only complaint is that we did not stay longer. We will definitely be staying at this fantastic home again.

My stay at the carriage house in St Augustine during the last 2 weeks of March and first week of April was a true delight. Sitting on the porch and enjoying the neighborhood and the fabulous trees just of the porch were some of my favorite parts of being in this space. There was a pair of hawks building a nest across the street and I was able to watch them coming and going and communicating with each other in a way I have never had time or access to. A quick walk downtown, day or night, and there were so many great sites to see,the locals being no exception. Flagler College is close to home and an architectural treat to explore on foot. Sitting by the harbor watching the Bridge of Lions being recreated and boats coming and going was exceptional. The AIA Restaurant, overlooking the bridge and harbor, with an upstairs balcony made a great hangout spot for sunset. They brew their own beers and I enjoyed the Pale Ale a lot. A quick drive to Velano Beach and Caps Restauruant on the Innercoastal Waterway has great seafood and waterfront seating. The list of great food found in St. Augustine would take a page by itself. Meeting the owners, Brigid and Barry, was the highlight of my visit. They are gracious and generous and made our stay in St. Augustine feel like a true vacation. I really want to go back in the summer and spend some time exploring the water around the city. I have read about some great Kayak areas, surfing, sailing and bird watching. Some of my favorite things to do and a comfortable place to have as a home base. What more could you want in a getaway. Thanks for making a place to visit that allows you to get the flavor of living in St. Augustine, right in town but quiet and within walking distance to almost everything. Staying in an actual carriage house with the horses right around the corner made the experience timeless. I felt like moving in!! See you next time.

Our week in the carriage house was the perfect family vacation. We truly enjoyed the beach, the easy-paced town and the fact that we could walk anywhere we wished to venture. The town was perfect, but the house made it truly memorable. The carriage house was beautiful, cozy, and extremely clean with all the conveniences. We especially enjoyed each morning outside on one of the porches or deck. The house brought us all together, while all the outside verandas gave us each the opportunity to escape for quiet time too. Thank you for a real home-away-from-home vacation.

We really liked the carriage house. It was nicely decorated, conveniently located close to everything, and perfect for a family. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch sipping a cold drink watching the occasional passerby. There's even a nice shady place to park in the driveway, which was convenient because we were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go. A very nice vacation rental.

We stayed at The FL Carriage House which I hands down, wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who’ll be in the area needing a place to rent. It was chock full of history and Americana nostalgia and was sooo adorable. As soon as we pulled into the long driveway we immediately gasped. The house was nicely set back about 25 yards from the main road and had a giant 200 year old oak tree with Spanish moss hanging from its branches looming overhead. The mossy green home had a charming balcony in the front as well and it reeked of southern charm. The house got even better as you walked through the front door and discovered its three spacious bedrooms, two baths, fully stocked kitchen, a parlor, large dining room, and a spacious terrace. And thankfully the homeowner had the AC cranked so it was a comfortable 74 degrees throughout our entire stay!

The kitchen was very well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the upstairs porch where we could relax after a day of sightseeing. The house is very convenient to all of the sights and shopping in St. Augustine. We would recommend staying here to anyone who is visiting St. Augustine. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful carriage house. The girls commented that they felt like princesses. Your attention to detail is something all of us have never seen in any place we have ever stayed. Comfortable beds, beautifully decorated and immaculate. Close to all the sights but a quiet peaceful place to come back to at the end of the day. We especially looked forward to that upstairs porch! We were up in St. Augustine to visit family and added a few more days to our trip. We stayed at a bed and breakfast for the additional days and were all wishing we were still at your place. Many thanks again, we all felt that it was a privilege to stay at your carriage house.

We rented the Carriage House with a group of friends for a wedding weekend and were so happy to have a home to return to. The house is decorated with an eclectic style and a ton of antiques. We especially enjoyed the multiple outdoor seating area and the extensive wine glass collection! The house is a "steal" considering the high prices for B&B's. We'll definitely return. We enjoyed our visit to St Augustine and the house was the perfect place for us to stay at. It's very close to all the sights and activities we wanted to see. Our family was very comfortable in this quaint charming house, which is very clean and well-equipped. There happened to be a seafood festival the weekend we were there, and we liked walking along St George street, which is closed to cars, exploring the shops and restaurants. The interesting museums, oldest house and fort were like taking a step back in time. We also visited the fountain of youth and the lighthouse. There are many more things to see, which we will do on another visit. We look forward to staying here again, it was a great experience and we recommend it to everyone looking for a lovely spacious home that's close to everything.

This lovely home was one of the best places we have ever rented! Truly, every aspect of our stay there was delightful. The home is furnished beautifully, very warm and inviting, super clean, comfortable beds ( a real plus!), everything easy to find and use, beautiful view from the top balcony. We loved being able to walk to many restaurants and sights. Owners were accessible and made every effort to make our stay a wonderful experience. We highly recommend the Fl Carriage House.

We stayed at the Carriage House for a week leading into Halloween. We had an amazing time. It was like a home away from home. Very clean and organized so you are not searching for things that you would need. It is decorated in such a warm way that it feels like you are staying with family. I have three young children and the house worked out great for us. We loved having the kitchen so that we didn't have to eat all of our meals out and the washer and dryer was a huge plus (I have two boys). We really enjoyed the second floor balcony. We sat out there many times (day and night) and watched the world go by. The horse and carriage pass right by the house (that was really incredible). We enjoyed walking to all of the local attractions...we only needed the car to go to go on a day trip to the Space Center and we went to the beach for the day (a short drive over the Bridge of Lions). We'd rather walk to the attraction and drive to the beach. That worked for us because you can park right on the beach and you can make your car the home base for all of your beach equipment. I usually don't like beaches that you can drive on because I then we have to worry about the kids and cars. The traffic on this beach was very light and far enough back from the water that you don't really notice. We spent Halloween there and the children loved being dressed like pirates walking down the old streets of St. Augustine. We hope to have another chance to stay in the future. I think that St. Augustine has adventures for every age group.
Owner response:Thanks, We enjoyed having you choose the Carriage House for your visit to St Augustine. Please think of us on your next trip to our area.
