Accommodations:  Mountain House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 4.5 Baths (Sleeps 12)

Spend your vacation this year in our new, four bedroom, four and a half bath, Luxury Home. The house was completed May 2003 and also includes two family rooms, a loft that can be used as a 5th bedroom, patio with a large hot tub overlooking the lake, screened porch, and large deck where you can enjoy a view of the lake, pool, golf course, and mountains.

Everything you need to enjoy your time at Big Canoe is available to you in our home located on Lake Disharoon. You can wake up to the sound of the Canadian Geese flying overhead and go to sleep listening to the songs of the frogs. Our home has central heat and air as well as ceiling fans in all rooms, but sometimes you don't even need them!

Set in the foothills of the scenic North Georgia Mountains with elevations exceeding 3000 feet lays the enchanted land known as Big Canoe. Be prepared to brake for deer or wild turkey at any given turn in the road.

You can walk out the back door of our house and down the hill to the lake (beach), pool, waterslide, and fitness center with an indoor pool. No need to get in the car if you don't want to.

  • We rented Almost Heaven for two weeks, May 2nd to 16th May 2009. Our friends who had never been to America could not believe their eyes when we entered the property. It was beautifully kept, clean and tidy and much more than we expected. It is a credit to the owners Tom and Judi. We had a fantastic time in Big Canoe it is difficult to describe the property, we feel to give the house the full justice it deserves you have to see it with your own eyes. We hope we will be returning to Big Canoe next year, without a doubt we will book Almost Heaven, which was heaven to live in. Tom was very helpfull and telephoned us on a couple of occasions to recommend various places to visit. we travelled 4,500 miles that day and it was well worth the journey. We score Almost Heaven and Tom Ten out of Ten Peter Thompson and friends who cannot wait to return

  • We stayed at Almost Heaven this past weekend and it was even better than we remembered from our previous visit in this house. The accommodations are perfect - plenty of kitchen utensils, towels, etc. The king size b'ment bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept it! The view is wonderful. It is a great layout for two families. This was our second time in Almost Heaven and we will be back!

The house is so clean, everything looks new...it is much better than the pictures on the website. It is so convenient to be so close to the beach, the amenities and the trails...We are definitively going back! The Oconnors are so nice, they treat you as family!!

  • We stayed with three other couples at Almost Heaven to attend a Wedding. The house was perfect, lots of room for all of us and easy to find kitchen utensils and a few items we forgot to bring. Deck was comfortable and guys enjoyed watching football and hooking up to the internet without any problems. We are trying to find another weekend when we are all available to come back. It is such a short drive to get away and feel so comfortable and relaxed.

  • The weekend at Almost Heaven was just that...almost heaven. Not one indidvidual walked away without wonderful memories to cherish and take with them for a lifetime. Tom and Judy every branch of our armed services was represented at your home and we all appreciate your hospitality and kindness. Everything was perfect from the waterfalls to the hot tub to the fact that abosultely nothing was needed. It is a ready to live in ...home...not a house but a home.
