Why the Owner Chose Kahana
When we built Kahana Nui, we dreamed of creating a unique home that would complement the beauty of this idyllic location. Our plans were to build a "pole house", but we did not want it to have the appearance of a “house on poles”. A concept was developed for a ground level Lanai adapting the openness of the Bali style homes. By having beautiful, carved screens integrated into the supporting structure, a “Balinese Lanai” could be added to enhance the home. Trips were made to Bali and Java. The skill of the carvers and uniqueness of many items expanded the concept. The carved screens were used throughout the house. The furnishings were combined with decorations to capture the Bali Style. Many ideas were suggested and different approaches tried until the house evolved as you now see it.

Aloha My Name is Buz Moffett and I was raised in Lahaina and have enjoyed all the wonders Maui has to offer to those of us lucky enough to live here: Surfing, Fishing, Hiking, Fantastic Dining, Unreal Sunsets. My family and I make our home across the street from The Kahana Nui Villa and run it as an extension of our family home. Our guests become part of our extended Ohana.

There aren't enough superlatives in Hawaiian or English to describe our stay at Kahana Nui Villa. The house was perfect for our group of 12. The 4 kids loved the pool, hot tub and beach. They didn't want to go anywhere else! I didn't want to leave. The kitchen is top of the line, the beds were luxurious, and the view of Molokai from the shower is almost unfair. Drawbacks to the property? Okay, lets see...there was only one dish towel, and the driveway is a bit tight. Now that's nit picking. We absolutely loved it and would stay there again in a heartbeat. My two children and I had the pleasure of staying at Kahana Nui for the weekend. We wanted to stay forever. The house was not only spectacularly beautiful and well decorated, but it was cozy too! We enjoyed sitting on the deck or lounging in the pool looking across the water to our home of Molokai. We had all the amenities we needed to feel like we were right at home. In fact, we wanted to stay at Kahana Nui rather than go to the major attractions Maui offers. We snorkeled right off the backyard beach, collected shells and lounged by the pool for barbeques. The owners were helpful and friendly and very down to earth, making us feel welcome and at home when we arrived. This was our first stay here in Kahana and we can't wait to return. The house is so large and well stocked that we are dreaming of a family reunion so we can share a little bit of heaven on earth.

This beautiful home provided the perfect backdrop for a sun filled week on Maui. The house is wonderfully decorated and comfortable. The open floor plan of the house provides plenty of space and comfort for large or small parties and families. We enjoyed soaking in the hot-tub, watching whales from the lanai and swimming off of the beach in front of the house. The views are spectacular and you feel as though you are in your own private oasis. Kitchen and amenities all top of the line and everything was clean and well stocked upon our arrival. The location is ideal with supermarkets located close by, fantastic hiking and restaurants all in the neighborhood. Lahaina was a quick drive from the house as were all of the amazing beaches in West Maui. If you are looking to rent a home where you can cook, watch amazing sunsets and fall asleep to the waves, this is the place. It made our vacation completely stress free and relaxing! We loved our time here, highly recommend and can't wait to vacation at this house next year!

We have stayed at Kahana Nui twice, in 2007 and 2009 and absolutely loved it each time! The owners are great to work with which adds to the overall experience! The house is comfortable and beautiful, with views from the upper and lower lanai that are breathtaking! In season, whale watching from the house is spectacular, so bring binoculars! The house is fully stocked with all linens, kitchenware and basic needs, along with toiletries as well, making it feel like home away from home. With the pool and hot tub being the spot we enjoyed most, we found ourselves never wanting to leave the house as it was total paradise all on its own! We have many fond memories there, and plan to return again in the coming years! Thanks for making our experiences so perfect!
