Rocky Mountain High, our recently renovated vacation home, is ideal for both families and groups, and is accessible to all of Summit County’s year round activities. In the winter, our location offers easy access to five major ski areas, namely Breckenridge, Cooper, Keystone, Arapahoe, and Vail; all are excellent for downhill skiing, and snowboarding. Across the front of our property, we have cross-country skiing on the virtually endless multi-use Pathway, plus we have an Alpine cross-country ski area less than one mile away. For others, there is also snowshoeing and ice fishing.
In the summer our home is the ideal base for hiking, trail and mountain biking, boating, swimming, ballooning, fishing and almost every outdoor sport. Pets are welcome with an additional deposit and prior approval. We are just minutes from downtown Frisco, but are nestled next to the Rainbow Trail with 1,000's of acres of State Forest, offering our guests immediate access to endless nature trails, lakes, wildlife, and wilderness. Rocky Mountain High provides a breathtaking, unobstructed view of Peak One, a majestic, scenic mountain (almost 14,000 feet high).
We have 4 heated garages along with a heated apron around the garages making early departures for skiing and snow boarding effortless. There is also a spa room with a large hot tub along with a shower and play areas for après skiing family times. Inside, our home has a rustic feel with beautifully finished wood, and bare-log beams. (For more pictures of the inside rooms, please visit our Website reachable through this VRBO Website.)
The home is available in three configurations: 3 bedroom, 4 bedroom, or the whole house with 7 bedrooms (connected, but with separate entrances). Our home is great for family reunions and small retreats with everyone sleeping under one roof.
We have a very large outside fireplace (and plenty of wood). The fireplace is safe and excellent for sitting around after daytime activities are over. A separate gas grill is available for cooking outside. We also have two inside fireplaces that are gas-fired, safe, and very cozy to sit around.
The master bedroom has its own fireplace, plus a jetted hot tube of its own, and a large two person shower. Our home is perfect for a romantic vacation, even if you bring the kids. A concierge service allows our guests access to many other amenities, including special rates on bike and boat rentals, lift tickets, restaurants, and a local masseuse.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1955
The Vierling Family has owned this property for over 50 years and two generations. The first generation actually lived here in a real log cabin as a family of nine. After we all grew up, we left the area for job opportunities out of the State.
Unfortunately, our log cabin burned to the ground one night from total neglect. Years went by when finally, by popular demand, we rebuilt a beautiful new dwelling on the property for the whole family to enjoy. There was lots of space and it was really great for family reunions.
This past summer, we renovated our vacation home, and added even more space to accommodate over 20 people for sleeping. This vacation home is our family legacy, now located on what has been officially designated “Vierling Way,” one of the many roads in the little town of Frisco. We want you to enjoy it as well. You can rent the whole structure, or if you prefer, you can rent separate portions of either 3 bedrooms, or 4 bedrooms each....ideal for families. Each portion is accessible by its own private entrance.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
We chose this special location way back when no one else lived on Bill's Ranch. Our mother and father were the first pioneers to reside here, and that’s why the road in front of our property became known as “Vierling Way.” What really got our parents attention was the surrounding wilderness and the seclusion of the location. Even after more than fifty years, that seclusion still exists today, even though we are within walking distance from downtown Frisco.
Our vacation home is centrally located to the following five ski areas: Breckenridge, Cooper, Keystone, Arapahoe, and Vail. In the summer, we are close to lake swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, ballooning, and mountain biking. (Please go to our Website for more pictures of fun activities....you can reach our Website through this VRBO site.) We want to share our experience with you. We can assure you that you will have a marvelous time staying at our Rocky Mountain High.
The Unique Benefits of this House
In the winter, this is a snowy wonderland, with powder snow everywhere. Directly in front of our vacation home is a cross-country path that goes for over 30 miles, namely from Breckenridge to Vail.
In the summer, we can jump on our bikes and go for 36 miles on a paved, bike-only, Pathway. We are only minutes from Dillon Lake for summer water sports. The trail to the top of Peak One begins behind our home. The walking trails behind our home also take you to endless beaver dams, and natural lakes, like one in particular which is called Rainbow Lake, just a short distance away. Our home is great for work and play. There is a desk, and wireless Internet throughout the house.
During both summer and winter, there is a free bus service that goes from Main Street Frisco to Cooper, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe ski areas.
Once you are at our Rocky Mountain High, you may just decide to stay close to home and enjoy the beauty and splendor of the property. Treat yourself to a massage, read a good book, watch a movie, listen to music, enjoy a catered dinner from a personal chef, go for a walk or hike on neighboring trails or just relax…the possibilities are endless!
Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by our manager, Nancy Sandsmark, who will provide a brief orientation and provide you with all the information you need to make your stay more enjoyable. Nancy can offer you personal concierge services for a reasonable fee to assist you with restaurant reservations, activity bookings, personal chef/catered meals, tours, spa and massage appointments, and more.
