Why the Owner Chose Fair Harbor
I came for a day trip and fell in love with Fire Island. You shrug off your cares and woes on the passenger ferry over, and just relax the minute you step barefooted onto the island. People are warm, unpretentious, engaged in the community. Kids are utterly safe (no cars on the island in the summer), and adults just naturally take on the responsibility of looking out for each other's young ones. It's like stepping back in time.
The Unique Benefits of this House
I looked at many, many houses in different communities. I saw this one and my mouth dropped open. It's big and beautifully outfitted but retains that shingled beach cottage charm. It's not a summer house, it is built and furnished for year-round living, so it's far more comfortable than many you will find for rent. Plus, Fair Harbor is the right place to be. Frequent ferry service, its own grocery store, hardware store, and restaurant.
