St. Remy de Provence house description

The mas “Les Oliviers de Saint Paul” was built in 2005/2006. The villa is set privately in its own 1000 square meters garden, and was designed according to traditional provincial style, reminding one of the old authentic village.

The typical village of St Rémy de Provence is located close to Avignon city and les Baux de Provence. You will enjoy the benefits of the Provence lifestyle such as walking around the old city centre, enjoying its restaurants, or live the unique experience of its Wednesdays’ Provencal market, acknowledged as one of the best in the entire region.

The villa has been designed in the style of a traditional Provencal house and accommodates up to 10 people. It is best suited for families and/or groups of friends! The villa is set privately in its own garden and has its own swimming-pool. Dominique has put her unique decorator touch on the whole house, creating a highly provencal atmosphere with the mix of modern and traditional furniture.

The house has five bedrooms (one on the ground floor and four upstairs). Each of them possesses its own bathroom overlooking either onto the Alpilles hills, the old town or the Mont Ventoux.

The well-furnished living room and its old stone fireplace will keep you cosy at any time of the year. The kitchen has a typical French style and is well-equipped. It opens onto a shaded terrace, where you can have barbecues.

There is a swimming pool (10 x 5,5m) with secured access for children.

Lights softly illuminate the property in the evening.

Ground Floor :
The house distributes a large living room and dining area, and an eat-in-kitchen. There is also one bedroom on this floor.

The living room has French windows opening onto the garden and overlooking onto the Alpilles Mountains. A fireplace, a large sofa, armchairs… are here to make you feel at home. For your entertainment, there is a library with English books, as well as a TV and a stereo system with CD/DVD player. You benefit from a wireless high-speed Internet connection to accommodate your laptop.

The dining area is furnished with a dining table seating 10.

The kitchen is separated from the entrance hall, and is fully equipped for French chef cooking: large choice of nice plates and dishes, big farmer sink, a large Smeg cooker with electric oven and five gas hotplates, a microwave, a coffee maker, an espresso maker, a boiler, a toaster, a large fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. The authentic kitchen table seats 8/10. The kitchen has a view on the garden.

A laundry room is equipped with Bosch washing and drying machines, an iron and a second fridge/freezer.

The master suite has a south exposed French door opening onto the garden, a king or twin beds with bedside tables, a drawer, a wardrobe and a small wood desk. Italian shower, antique style lavabo and separated toilets will make you feel comfortable.

First French Floor:
The upper floor displays four more bedrooms.

The first bedroom is furnished with a Queen bed, a round table with chairs, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. There is an en-suite bathroom with a washbasin, a large shower and a toilet. It is south exposed, has a view on the Alpilles Mountains, the garden and the swimming pool.

The second bedroom is furnished with a King bed or twin beds with bedside tables, a dresser and a built-in closet. There is an en-suite bathroom with a tub/shower and a washbasin. This bedroom is also south exposed.

The two other bedrooms each offer two beds or King bed, a bedside table, a chest of drawers, an en-suite bathroom with shower and washbasin.
Each bedroom and bathroom has a window overlooking north and opening onto the Mont Ventoux.

Outside :
The kitchen accesses to the shaded terrace with a terracotta table for 10 and a gas BBQ.

The landscaped garden is planted with olive and yew trees, lavender, rosemary, flowers and lawn. Don’t forget our young fig tree and its very tasteful fruits! A gardener takes care of it.

The swimming pool (10 x 5,5m) displays a secured access, counter-current swimming equipment and long chairs.

You access the property through a private lane and there is enough space to park two/three cars.

The house is a 10 min walk from the village, which will make each of your trips very convenient.

                          Our house is a 2 minute walk from one of the finest Greco-Roman ruins which is acknowledged as one of the most important in the region, the couvent of Saint Paul de Mausole where Vincent Van Gogh used to live and paint is right above our house at the bottom of the Alpilles

                          About: Since the first time my husband and I went to Saint Rémy de Provence, we have been dazzled by the Alpilles light, the characteristic scent of the provencal markets, the taste of the olive oil and of the rosé wine of les Baux de Provence. Our dream then, was to build a house where we could welcome our children and friends. Saint Rémy's charm and authenticity were the reasons of our immediate choice. We hope you'll have as much of a great experience of the unique Provence lifestyle that St Rémy provides as we did and still do.

                          Why St. Remy de Provence:
                          We love Provence and its lifestyle, the light, painted by so many artists like Van Gogh or Cezanne, the sunshine weather. We choose St Rémy as it's a lovely village. The house is at a five minute walking distance from the historical center, which makes it very convenient. It is in a very quiet district; the pool and the garden are peaceful. Finally, the access is very easy from Paris (2hrs 40min by TGV train)
