BEST CHARM TO DOLLAR RATIO

Guest: Duchess of Devonshire (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 07/22/11 Review Submitted: 07/25/11

We stayed at this house last weekend and found it hard to leave. It was clean and lovingly maintained. The little cabin in the back is ultra-romantic. It has a wall of old salvaged multi-paned windows that slide open to reveal the beautiful forest light filtering through the trees, best viewed right from bed with your sweetie. If you have kids they will undoubtedly hijack this structure for the duration. There are also different areas with comfortable seating to enjoy drinks and meals throughout the day as the sun moves across the property. I appreciated the very fun visual surprises scattered about, including an actual treasure chest partially buried in the back yard overflowing with booty. Definitely something for everyone. It's a very short drive to Calistoga and great places to eat like Mustards and Tra Vigne in the Napa Valley. Matt made check in and out a breeze.

Great Extended Weekend

My family and I stayed here while we were in town for a wedding. Matt was extremely easy to deal with and very responsive. The house was a short drive from Santa Rosa, but it was well worth it for the peaceful atmosphere. The home was clean and had everything that we could have needed. We would definitely stay again!

Amazing Hospitality and Accomodations!

We stayed at the Redwood Retreat while attending a nearby wedding in Santa Rosa. The house was immaculate. Clean, roomy, meet all our expectations. Secluded location was a plus. Location is perfect - in between Sonoma and Napa Valleys - we took advantage of both. We even drove into the San Fran for a day. Matt was gracious and extremely hospitable. We were even provided with a welcome basket upon arrival. He thought of everything from soap and shampoo to extensive area maps. We would definitely recommend the house and stay here again.

Amazing

Everything in the country cottage was amazing. Matt's clear expectations, hospitality & generosity made me immediately at ease. I was in town for the BARBS/Ironman Triathlon and the location was perfect. My group made use of the amazing kitchen with everything you might need and the BBQ. The decks were perfect for an intimate group celebration. I wish I had more time to enjoy the beauty of the grounds & gardens.

Relaxing get away

We (5 adults) had a delightful stay at the Redwood Retreat, a very quiet and secluded location. Large private deck looks out over a unique and well maintained garden with soothing water fall. Song birds and hummingbirds are plentiful. House was very clean and inviting. Great kitchen and grill set up to cook gourmet meals with local ingredients. Central location for Sonoma and Napa. Would definitely stay again.

WONDERFUL PLACE, GREAT VALUE!

Guest: Rourke (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 04/30/10 Review Submitted: 05/28/10

Five of us stayed at this cozy, comfortably appointed house this past May. Everything was clean, well organized and welcoming. We loved the little romantic cabin in the back! Calistoga was an easy ten minute roll down the hill where we enoyed a whole day at Indian Springs and got super relaxing mud baths. We got our treatments and complete use of their facilities, including the huge warm mineral water swimming pool that was built in the 1920's all for eighty bucks each! We purchased wine at a nearby vinyard and brought it back to enjoy on the big back deck of the house. There are two gas bar-b-que grills which allows for grilling heaven. Nice touch. We spent a fraction of what a hotel would have cost, but received far more amenties. Matt the owner really has it together. Definitely looking forward to returning!

Great property and great owner!

Guest: Brian CR (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 05/21/10 Review Submitted: 05/25/10

My group of 5 needed to be up in wine country for a wedding. Rather than get a few hotel rooms, we decided to try out this place. The entire experience exceeded expectations. Matt, the owner, is very friendly, professional, and clear in all communications. He even left us some wine and cheese and crackers for our stay (totally not expected, but that kind of hospitality is much appreciated)! The house is very clean and spacious and has a great stainless steel kitchen. Outside is beautiful and has a comforting fountain running outside. If I were to return to wine country, I would definitely look into this property again.
