Villas Catalinas are named after beautiful views of the Catalina Islands and is in a tropical setting yet close to restaurants, bars, and grocery stores. We are located north of Flamingo on the road to Sugar Beach just outside the village of Potrero, a 5 minute walk to Penca and Prietta beaches, which are family-friendly, clean and have shaded areas. Penca is the calmer one, and Prietta often has waves that are great for boogie boarding. Surfing beaches are 30 minutes to Tamarindo or Playa Grande, 40 minutes to Avellanas. Grocery shopping can be done at the locally-owned, small stores in Potrero within walking distance; or you can drive 20 minutes to Huacas to a large grocery store or 30 minutes to Tamarindo to a large, totally modern grocery store. (We usually go there about once a week or so.)
The infinity pool for the complex has cook out area, covered area, bathrooms and whirlpool. But best of all are the magnificent views and a perfect place to watch the beautiful sunsets!
Our unit is an end unit, so the deck wraps around to give a good Ocean View to the west and the wooded hills to the north. Every room has A/C and ceiling fans. Great area for bird viewing. Listen to the howler monkeys and chattering parrots from the deck. We are in a area that is quiet, calm and relaxing but within an easy drive of developed areas with tourist shops and activities.
The complex is gated and has 24-hour guards. The local town people are friendly and helpful. You'll get to know restaurant and store owners who will remember you! We have rented kayaks and paddled to the nearby island for snorkeling and shell hunting.

Why the Owner Chose Potrero
We looked in several locations in Guanacaste. When we saw Villas Catalinas and the Potrero area, we immediately fell in love with it. Our unit is very private, quiet, has great views and is on the end.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa/Townhouse
Our unit has a garage, the only one on our level. Lots of trees nearby where you can view so many different variety of birds. Our deck is big enough to seat lots of people and has a table that seats 6 with two more chairs and a chaise lounge as well.

This picture was taken near Rincon, about an hour from Potrero. We enjoy exploring nearby sites and getting to know the local people. We are retired and spend 4-6 months a year in Costa Rica. Every time we go, we love it more and more!
