This is a wonderful House had the whole family together for a week and enjoyed our stay.The only bad part, other than having to leave, was we were unable to use the pool do to the very cold temps the week we were there. Location is great, close to anything and all you really need is your suitecases. This house has everything you need. Can't wait to come back when it is warm.Did you find this review helpful? I was all set to write my rave review and then glanced at the one left by the folks who stayed the week before us... that one pretty well sums it up so please read and pretend we wrote it as well as this one - lol!. This place leaves no stone unturned - it is gorgeous from top to bottom and the location is perfect. Close enough to get to the beach and the center of town easily on foot yet secluded enough to offer a peaceful getaway from the crowds. We too spent our share of time at the Lost Dog Cafe and highly recommend it to others... Definitely take the time to walk to the west end of the island at low tide - it's like a whole other world - great for some neat photos plus lots of good shells for the shell-seekers. Getting back to the house - we definitely appreciate the little extras that you don't usually find with vacation rentals... Owner supplied laundry detergent, dish soap, plenty of paper towels, Rainbath in all showers, extra beach towels... Not huge things in and of themselves but very much appreciated!! Absolutely the *only* thing missing is an outdoor sound system (bring a boom-box) and a good non-stick pan (just our own little quirk :-) THANK YOU for our wonderful week of living the high life!! Just so you can have a framework for this review, we have stayed in two other houses on Folly, both of which were oceanside. We have also stayed in about 20 rental houses all over the world. Now, let me say, this house is amazing. At first, I was a little concerned because it is not oceanside and I usually think that is a must. But after looking at the many outdoor spaces this house provides (pool, patios, balconies, screened porch) I thought it might just give us something many of the other oceanside places don't, a large outdoor gathering space with both shade and sun. And yes, it did! We spent most of our time somewhere between inside and outside, with the many large french doors thrown open, relaxing by the pool and making use of the large patio, barbeque, outdoor shower, outdoor bathroom, screened in porch, hammock and comfy lounges. The westward view is beautiful and peaceful and very private. When we wanted a little more activity, we walked down to the ocean and spent hours playing, swimming (it was incredibly warm for this time of year), and walking. When we got tired we walked back to our quiet shaded paradise. The walk is very short. It was perfect outdoor time. We had every amenity we could ask for. Now for the inside. What can I say? This house was built (recently) with no expense spared. Anywhere. Let me tell you about some of the kitchen surprises. 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, a special ice dispenser cabinet, a wine refrigerator, a pot-filler above the 5 burner store, 2 ovens. Also a large butlers pantry and mudroom. I mean, really? Yes, really. The whole house has built in millwork everywhere, bookcases, shelves, cabinets. All the bedrooms have bathrooms that are luxurious. The master bedroom is larger than many people's houses, with a walk in closet and bathroom that kinda leave you speechless. The bathroom has a huge clawfoot tub, a ginormous shower that has 3 showerheads, one of which is an overhead waterfall. A note about location on island. Perfect. Each night we walked to the sunset bar at the marina and walked back along beach. Each morning walked to town, coffee at Lost Dog, then walked back. Did I say perfect? I did consider not posting a review because the bad part of me wants to always have this house available for me and not encourage mobs. But I figure selfishness is bad karma and sharing is best for truth and love. So there you go. Can you see any reason not to reserve this house right now? This home exceeded my expectations and is by far the most beautiful, well-maintained vacation home I've rented. The amenities were top-notch and immaculate. I especially loved how private the home is; surrounded by trees and perfectly situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and up a long gravel driveway. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach and less than a mile to great Folly beach restaurants and shops.The owners were very organized and helpful and answered all of my questions. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation at a luxury home. It is perfect for couples or families with children. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us. The family was in town for a family weddding and this property was everything we could wish for. The decor is gorgeous and the home is large enough that we were able to spend quality time with our large family. The patio, pool and screened in porch are amazing. We were very fortunate to have been able to enjoy absolutely beautiful weather and spend time at the beach. Although the home is not right on the beach, the proximity is close enough and easy to get to and the location of the home is secluded and very private. This was our first experience renting a vacation home. All of our uncertainties vanished once we saw the home. We stayed for a week with our three teenage children and had a wonderful family experience. This house went above and beyond our expectations. Aimee, our contact, was very accomodating as well. Upon arrival, I could not find an iron. After speaking to Aimee on the phone one evening, it was to my delight that a brand new iron and ironing board showed up the very next morning. Our only regret is that our vacation was not long enough. None of us wanted to leave.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
