My wife, son (1.5) and I really enjoyed staying in Mascha's apartment during our visit to Venice (2nd - 4th November '11). It was very well furnished and fulfilled all our needs. As many others have stated, the location was perfect. Far enough from the touristy areas but close enough to all the attractions. We got a good feel of how the common Venetian lives in this wonderful city. It was very thoughtful of Mascha to provide information brochures about Venice in the apartment. She was also extremely considerate in allowing us to stay in the apartment (for no extra charge) on our last day till our train departure time even though checkout was 10 am. Of course, that was because no new guests were arriving on our departure day but it proved very helpful as we did not have to carry our luggage around. Supermarkets, local vegetable and fruit shops, a pharmacy, restaurants etc. are all located nearby, so our daily needs were taken care of. There was just one thing which I felt could be improved in this apartment. The water in the shower area of the bathroom drained really slowly. So, everytime one of us took took a bath, we were standing in a pool of water. I am not sure if it was happening because the drain in the shower was blocked or whether the draining system was meant to be that slow. Either way, it seemed like a minor issue to us. I would highly recommend staying in this apartment and would definitely book it if I visit Venice again.

Nice to be away from the tourist area and the crowds. Great service - was met at vaparetto and escorted to property. Close to markets and attractions - including good food spots. Owner let us in early due to early ship arrival. Great breeze thru the patio doors. Kitchen is okay for cooking, but no big meals. Would stay there again.

My wife, son (21) and I stayed at Marscha's apartment. The location was great, a 5-10 minute walk to St. Marks Square but far enough from the crowds that the evenings and mornings were very quite. The apartment was well equiped, very clean and safe. There is no elevator and you will need to carry your luggage up three levels. The internet worked great, but you will need a USB port to plug the memory stick into to connect to the service. The water bus takes about 30 minutes from the train station to the stop for the apartment and then a five minute walk to the apartment. Mascha's brother met us at the water bus stop and walked us to the apartment and was very helpful with information for the area. There are many restaurants in the immediate area and the prices go up as you approach St. Marks Square, we found the local restaurants to be very good. When we return to Venice, we would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at this apartment for our first trip to Venice. Mattia and Mascha were very welcoming and met us at the Alilaguna stop. The apartment is spacious, clean and a great location as it's a 5 to 10 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. Great internet connection, included with the stay and all the comforts of home! We will definitely stay here again when we return to Venice and have recommended it to friends!

We really enjoyed our stay in your clean, comfortable apartment. The location was great, a short walk to St Marco Square but removed just enough so we could escape from the crowds and enjoy a leisure drink on the apartment's patio. We had fun exploring Garibaldi Street shopping for wine and cheese with the locals and walking along the seawall. We would definatly return to your lovel apartment and have recommeded it to friends who are thinking of travelling to Venice. Thank you for all your help and assistance in making our stay so delighful. Judy and Harry, North Vancouver BC Canada.

We had a most enjoyable time staying in your apartment in Venice. It was delightful and so perfectly located near Via Garibaldi, only a short distance from the tourist bustle of St Marco's and yet in what would be considered an ideal location for the pure Italian escape, restaurants, supermarkets, post office etc. The apartment is well appointed and light and airy. I know for sure that when (if) we come to Venice that I will be endeavouring to stay in your apartment once again. I'll definitely be recommending it to my family and colleagues when they are planning their travel.

A great place to come back to after a long day walking around to stretch the legs and have dinner on the terrace, before doing it all again the next day. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking to stay in Venice for several days.

Venice was the first of four stops in Italy, and our first experience booking through VRBO. We were not disappointed! Although Mascha couldn"t meet us, her mother did, and did her best to introduce we english speakers to the neighbourhood. As others have said, it was close enough yet far enough away from St. Marks to offer a respite each evening. The neighbourhood had everything we needed: groceries, bakery and bank. Two Vapporetto stops are near by, one over a couple of bridges, the other a flat walk which was a real bonus dragging our bags to the Termini! Our only complaint is that the portable air conditioning unit was noisy and not really up to the task during the scorching heat we experienced during late July. But all in all, we would recommend this unit to our friends and family.

This property was in an excellent location. It was far enough from the busiest parts of the city but still a few minutes walk to San Marco. We didn't hear a sound from any of the neighbors so it was quiet but just a few meters away are several restaurants, a grocery store, a drug store and a wonderful bakery. The property managers were very accommodating and helpful. The a/c was not working during our stay but we were provided with 2 large fans that helped a lot. It wasn't too hot during that time so it worked out just fine. I'd definitely stay in this property again if I go back to Venice which I intend to do one of these days.

We truly enjoyed our stay in Venice and in your apartment. It was as if we were one of the permanent residents of Venice. The apartment was very cute and comfortable and we liked the location...close enough, but not too close to the craziness of the tourists in the city. Thank you....we will look forward to staying with you again should we find ourselves in Venice in the future.

I had a great time in Venice and absolutely recommend this one bedroom apartment. The description and pictures are accurate and the apartment is in fantastic location only about 10 minute walk to St Mark's. The area was surprisingly not touristy and I felt like a Venetian for a few days. I can't wait for my next trip to Venice. Great experience!

If planning on going to Venice, Italy and are looking for a nice apartment I highly recommend renting this beautiful one bedroom. The pictures and description of the apatment are accurate and the location is perfect only about a 5 minute walk to St Mark's Square. The owner was delightful and made renting the apartment very simple and convenient for us. I rented apartments my entire trip in Italy and now I can't imagine travelling any other way. Great experience!

Dario and I loved staying in your lovely top floor apartment off Garabaldi Street! It was serene and romantic and away from the hustle and bustle of tourism in Venice. We loved shopping at the local grocery store and making our own meal and eating on the balcony. We even discovered the lovely park at the end of the island that we hadn't yet visited. We certainly plan to come back when we visit Venice next and already have friends interested in staying for their future visits...both Italians and Americans. Thank you so much for offering such a lovely apartment! Angela

This was a wonderful, comfortable apartment, just as clean and well-maintained as it appears in the photos. The owners are quite responsive to any questions or problems you may have and extremely helpful. Our 2-year-old son's stroller did not arrive with our flight and Marco, after meeting us at the vaporetto stop & helping us with our bags upon arrival, took care of it completely for us, contacting the airline and arranging for it to be delivered to us the next day. The location is far enough from S. Marco (but not too far) that you can get a sense of what life is like for the relatively few "ordinary" Venetians who still live in Venice: you can see parents taking their kids to school, neighbors meeting in Via Garibaldi each evening to chat. A large (by Venetian standards)) grocery and every other kind of shop you might need are just a few yards away from your front door. If you have an active young child, it's great to be near what is really the only park in Venice and certainly the largest public expanse of green you will find. The kitchen is small, but we found it more than adequate to prepare everything we wanted from scratch, and the apartment is pretty bright, quiet and nice to be in. A crib is also readily available. A number of year ago I lived in the Dorsoduro section of Venice for a few months, near Campo Santa Margherita, and I really enjoyed being in the Castello sestiere in this apartment. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Venice--whether for the first time or the 10th.
