Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2007

Gary and Fiona would like to welcome you to Park Farm Country Cottage. Gary is a third generation of the Sweet family to farm here, the farm was a mixed beef, dairy and arable farm but now we concentrate on arable with grass made into hay for horses. The cottage was originally a barn, believed to be over 200 years old and had been used for raising calves, pigs, turkeys and also as a stable. We converted the cottage in 2008 and it is finished to a very high standard retaining the character of the original building.

Why the Owner Chose Keynsham

The cottage makes an ideal base for visiting Bristol, Bath and Wells whilst enjoying a beautiful countryside location.

Beautiful Farm Cottage
5/5

Wonderful stay in rural England

Guest: Brad (Waynesboro, VA)
Date of Stay: 04/02/11 Review Submitted: 04/10/11

My wife, two boys and I just returned from a trip to England, staying in the "barn" for 5 days and London for 3. The barn has been nicely redone with up to date plumbing and electric, comfortable furnishings and spotlessly clean. The surrounding country side is beautiful. Morning coffee on the patio overlooking the fields and endless hedges could not be more lovely. The building actually contains two units, however the walls are so thick we didn't know there were people in the other side until we ran into them in the parking area on the 3rd day of our stay. We never heard them, and they said the same about us. Bath, Stonehenge, Avery circle ( larger and better than Stonehenge--plus it is free and you can walk among the stones), Bristol football stadium, Cheddar gorge and the town/abbey where many Harry Potter scenes were done are all nearby. Hundreds of quaint villages, shops and Pubs. Drove up to the Cotswolds one day, about 2 hours. If you are renting a car, get the GPS if you are not bringing one. It makes navigating the numerous small roads a breeze. Gary and Fiona are very helpful hosts, providing recommendations and help whenever we asked. Although we are the first VRBO review, there are dozens of glowing recommendations and comments in the guest book which go back to 2008. We did not want to leave, and would go back in a minute. Thanks to the weak dollar, there are no bargains in England for US travelers, but this charming spot is worth every pound.

Owner response:Dear Brad Thank you for the lovely comments we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us,it was great meeting you and your family and would love to see you again. Kind regards Gary and Fiona
