the house is large enough to hold our group of 14 easily. problem is that nothing if finished. it looks good in the photos but not in person. Kitchen is pathetic, no place to cook for capacity crowd or even a few people. Owner just installed a few new appliances which may look nice but are cheap junk. the frig freezes food inside the frig part near a built in ice maker that is not hooked up. The ovens don't hold temperature. Told that they had men in prior week for remodeling, in reality they appear to be in the middle of a cluster, but they still charged top rate. obviously nothing has been thought out and the owner is just winging it. There were actually live wires sticking out of the walls in the kitchen where they intend to install things. there were sinks upstairs that did not drain, shower faucets that don't work and fall off when you turn them, no internet till we fixed it ourselves, remotes that had dead batteries (3). there is a small tv over the main living room fireplace mantle (19"monitor) that did not work but was brand new. Too small to watch if it did work. The owner actually told me he just put that in for himself. ??? the large bedrooms were set up so the beds are in the corners against cold outside walls. In one there is a Yamaha piano/ organ sitting in the place where the bed should be like we are going to have a concert in the bedroom, ridiculous setup. the dining room table is a pool table underneath, which is a novel idea and gave the kids some fun. problem is you cant sit at the table with the chairs provided cause they are 6" too low to reach the table. we were like dwarfs trying to eat dinner. Lake Placid is a fabulous town. Whiteface is a great ski mountain. look around for a better house to stay in that is WORTH the money per week for prime time rental.

Owner response: The reviewer was upset as the Internet router was reset and thus the password was reset to its default instead of the one we publish to the renters. This transcended into a scathing review with most accusations being completely false, especially the "live wire". If any renter has any questions about the review, home, or features, I am happy to address in advance, thank you.
Great stay in Lake Placid
Great stay in Lake Placid
We just returned from 4 days in this home. We were a group of 6 adults, 2 teens, and 3 kids aged 9-10. We all had plenty of space in terms of bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, bathrooms, and parking. There was also lots of indoor and outdoor room to relax without feeling crowded. The property was well maintained and accurately described and pictured on VRBO. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked most meals there. The location is very good - short walk to Main Street, and equally short drive to groceries, drugstore, and liquor store. We would return to this property if we vacationed in Lake Placid again.

What you see is what you get. We rented the house for a family reunion in the early fall. Foliage is spectacular in September. The house easily accommodated 8 adults and 6 children. The kids loved being on the third floor with their own bathroom and TV room. Overall, it is a beautiful property, graciously and elegantly appointed. There is a grand piano and some gorgeous art.We enjoyed the view from every window and especially from the master suites balcony. The location is ideal for outdoors folks (fly fishing, skiing, boating, swimming) all within minutes and for those seeking some peace and quiet. (Wrap around porch perfect place to read and dream.) The house is two blocks to Mirror Lake, a fullservice spa, restaurants, local wine bars and coffee shops. The kids loved the cupcake bakery and equestrian events. The family gathered in the evenings to grill dinners on the porch and play pool. The dining room table opens up into a fullsized pool table. We watched DVDs and read books in the Adirondack room. We hope to get up again for a family Thanksgiving. The kitchen is cleverly designed to allow 6 cooks to work at once. Good value. Property nicely cared for. Owner went out of his way to make suggestions, particularly for the kids.

Great family place!
Great family place!
This is a great house for a group of people! There is plenty of room for people to sit inside or out, and the atmosphere is wonderful! The kitchen is fully stocked, and the location is perfect, just outside town, but a quick walk in to a restaurant and entertainment. Also this is a perfect house for triathletes in training.
