Though private, the location offers the benefits of a bakery, butcher, market, florist, pharmaceutics, restaurants and bars within one block. The gite (apartment) overlooks a courtyard behind a beautiful iron gate and provides lots of sunlight. It is situated within rural French countryside surroundings, in the small, picturesque village of Nolay (2000 persons).
The countryside near Nolay offers the spectacular cliffs of Le Boute du Monde (World's End), Nolay is a small medieval town nestled in a valley where the granite outcroppings give way to limestone hillsides.... a transition from farming to woods to the ever present vineyards that Burgundy is known for. The central plaza, or heart of the village includes a XIV century market hall and beautiful church from the 15th century which has figures which strike the bell tower every hour.

Beautifully Restored, 16th Century Medieval Maison

Why the Owner Chose Nolay
This location seemed like the perfect blend for me, and perspective guests, to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside while still having the amenities of modern day life and the quintessential small specialty shops that France is often known for (bakeries, butchers, flower shops, etc). Here you can get away from the hustle and bustle while still being close to all the amenities of larger cities.
Owner's Map of Nolay
English woman who decided to give up the city and start a new life by doing the things she loves.... restoring historic homes, making people happy, entertaining, buying beautiful things for her antique store.
