Experience living on a white sand beach that stretches as far as the eye can see. Fire Island is an unique barrier beach straddled by the Atlantic Ocean where the sun rises and the Great South Bay where it sets. You have a perfect view of both. One minute you can be bodysurfing in the ocean and the next windsurfing on the bay. The bay is very shallow which makes it great for children and a fun place to try clamming.
Enjoy long walks on the beach collecting treasure or just sit back and relax with a book. Paddle ball, Frisbee, volley ball and wiffle ball are fun to play on the sand. But what really makes Fire Island a true paradise and different than any other place in the world is its lack of traffic. There are no roads, just boardwalks throughout the community. It's life without demands, without worries. A true vacation.
Davis Park has a restaurant and bar on the ocean with a wrap around deck and live entertainment. By the bay, there is a snack bar, a small grocery and liquor store. Most vacationers bring provisions from the mainland or get groceries delivered. We provide wagons to bring your things to the house.
For a day trip on foot explore the nature preserve at the National Seashore Park in Watch Hill just a few miles down the beach. Its renowned bird sanctuaries can be explored as you follow the nature trail. There is a snack bar and restaurant at the Watch Hill Harbor.
If you'd like to visit other communities on the island, water taxis are available.
Contact the local Ferry Service through Google "DAVIS PARK FERRY" for additional information on grocery deliveries and the ferry schedule.
