Location: Tahoe Park, Lake Tahoe West Shore CA, Lake Tahoe California, California, USA (Squaw Valley USA is a 15 Minute Drive from This House)
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths (Sleeps 10-14)
This beautiful, spacious, family-friendly home is the ideal place to "get away from it all", yet still be very close to all the action. For the last 10 years it's been our family vacation home and not a rental, so it's been well cared for and loved. It is located on the West Shore (North Lake Tahoe) just 1 mile from Tahoe City and a little over 1 mile from the legendary Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge. It is the last house on the street, making it rather private and backs up to thousand of acres of Tahoe National Forest land.
The main level has 4 bedrooms, including a spacious master bedroom with over 20' light pine ceilings. The master bedroom has a king size bed, wood burning stove, a walk-in dressing room, private bathroom with jetted tub, and large television with a combo VCR/DVD player. There are also French doors that open onto a spacious deck which over looks the back yard. The master has a great loft that includes a pull-out sofa bed. The other bedrooms are furnished very comfortably; one of the bedrooms has a 4 poster queen size bed and a door that opens up to the back yard and hot tub area. Another bedroom has a queen size bed and windows that over look forest. The last bedroom has twin beds and also has forest views. There is also, a twin size roll away bed, a cot, a portable baby crib and a child's high chair in the closets on this level. There are plenty of extra linens, blankets and pillows too.
In total there are 3 bathrooms on this level, one in the master suite (with jetted tub and shower), 2 other bathrooms off the hallway near the back bedrooms, one with a shower/tub combo and another with a shower stall. Both of these bathrooms have double sinks.
The light filled upper level, also with it grand, high ceilings, includes a very well equipped kitchen that opens to a dining area with a table big enough to seat 8 comfortably (we've done 10). There is a kitchen bar area that seats an additional 4 people. In this living area, that includes a large TV, DVD player and a surround sound stereo system, there is a spacious family room with 3 sofas all centered around a river rock fireplace that makes this room the heart of the house. There is a separate den off the living room that is really cozy with a comfortable couch and arm chair. This room has a TV and VCR/DVD combo player and plenty of toys for the kids. It's great place for the kids to play while the adults are enjoying themselves in the next room. Off the living room there is a relaxing window seat area that is the ideal place to read a book or do a puzzle. Right off the kitchen the French doors open on to a wonderful deck where you can sit in the sun, relax, barbeque and dine at the outdoor table while enjoying views of the forest. In the winter it's a great place to watch the snow fall.
There is a two car garage that provides direct access to the house for those snowy, stormy days. In the storage closets in the garage you will find snow sleds, beach umbrellas, beach chairs, etc. The driveway gets plowed whenever there is significant snowfall. In general, most all the streets in our neighborhood will be plowed during the winter after a snow storm. Please know that it is illegal to park on our street from November to May (park in driveway and garage)in order for the snow plows to clear the roads. 4 wheel drive is advised in the winter.
The house sits at just over 6000 feet and backs up to the forest. From the trails behind the house you can hike and bike in the warm weather and in the winter (and sometimes Fall, depending on the snow levels) you can cross country ski, snow shoe and snow sled. The legendary Paige Meadow Trail is located about 30 yards from the house too. Our house is very close to the top of Granlibaken ski and sled area. It is just a two minute walk from our front door. Granlibaken has one beginning-intermediate hill and a really fun snow sled hill. In the winter we advise that you take the short drive to Granlibaken and don't walk (easy going down, hard coming up). If you are going sledding bring those helmets, it is a very fast sledding hill. From our neighborhood it is a short walk to Tahoe City and to the lake. Our home owner's beach, the Tahoe Park Beach Club, is just over a mile from the house.
We have a membership to the Tahoe Park Beach Club which is 3.3 acres with approx 800' of beachfront on Lake Tahoe. Here you can enjoy the beach, jump off the piers, play horseshoes, basketball, volleyball or have a barbeque on one of the many pits, and most of them have lake views. The kids will also love the play structure and may even want to do a little craw dad fishing. In the summer it is advised to reserve you BBQ in advance. The home owner's beach is located directly next to the Sunnyside Restaurant and Bar where you can eat lunch or dinner on their beautiful lake view deck. You will need our membership key card in order to gain access to the Tahoe Park Beach Club.
The house is extremely close to many different world class ski areas. Squaw Valley USA and Alpine Meadows are within 15 minutes from the house. Homewood Ski Mountain is within 10 minutes. Northstar is within 30 minutes.
This house is a great place to get together with family and friends after a long ski day, or a day at the lake or just to hang out and do nothing. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2000
We bought this house in 2000 just weeks after our first child was born. We now have three kids. The two of us grew up in San Francisco and relished any opportunity we had to head up to the beautiful mountains of Lake Tahoe. We are avid snow skiers and water skiers too. We wanted our children to have the same experiences that we had had growing up...making great memories with friends and family in Lake Tahoe. When we saw this house we knew this had been what we were looking for. Our home is a peaceful, family friendly, retreat where we can be close to nature, but close to all the fun too!
Why the Owner Chose Tahoe Park
We chose to buy in this location because of all the amenities and sports that are so very close to the house. Tahoe City, Sunnyside, Skiing (Water and Snow), Homewood, Squaw Valley, Alpine, Granlibaken, Tahoe Park Beach Association, Hiking, Mountain Biking, Snowmobiling, Cross Country Skiing, Swimming. The house is in a great neighborhood and also very quite and peaceful; because it is at the end of the road our children go sledding right out our front door.
