Owner is an active duty Naval Officer with more than 35 years of service.
Why the Owner Chose Patagonia
I built this home to retire to once my naval career is over. I've traveled the world and found the Patagonia area offers the people, the culture and the climate that best suit me and my family.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The beauty and solitude of this location cannot be overstated. The relaxing quiet, the great views and the gentle breezes that pass over the hillside home each day refresh and rejuvenate body, mind and spirit. A spirited walk across the property will provide you with the opportunity of seeing so much of what southern Arizona has to offer: perhaps a fox or Coos deer will join you at a distance. Finish the day with a relaxing steam bath in the custom-tiled sauna, then relax on the front porch to enjoy a warm sunset. If you linger a little longer, the full moon or some shooting stars will share the view.

What a wonderful place

When we arrived at the house it was after dark, so we had no idea of the spectacular mountain vistas we would wake up to. There were birds singing all around us and mountains in every direction. The house itself was like a high end exclusive resort, lavish but tasteful, and very private. It is fully furnished with all the amenities, and had a great bed, linens, showers and full furnished kitchen. We stayed for a week, saw over a hundred and twenty species of birds around Patagonia and found several life birds right at the house. It is as described, only better, and we hated to leave.
Owner response:thanks Tom. I glad you enjoyed your stay and I hope you'll come back soon.

What a beautiful location and home this is! The listing description and photos were accurate, and the home was in superior condition for us to move right in. The appliances and furnishings were all luxurious. We felt like royalty while we were there! The views were magnificent and the quiet was astounding. We sat out on the patio and watched the hummingbirds coming to the feeder that was provided. We are avid birders and this location was absolutely perfect for all of the birding hot spots we wanted to see. We were able to get everywhere in southeastern Arizona to observe hundreds of birds. And it was so nice to return in the afternoon/evening to such a beautiful spot. The owner was very helpful in answering all of our questions and in supplying us with information about the area. He also had firewood supplied for us. We would recommend this property for anyone. The Home Plate in Patagonia was a good and friendly restaurant. We had an absolutely wonderful time. We thank you for letting us stay at your future retirement home.
Owner response:Glad you enjoyed your stay---hope to see you again next year.

This is a lovely, quality built home in a magnificent setting. Daily walks on the quite roads, drives to even more adventurous trails, scenic drives, wine tours, art shopping, movies in Nogales--even the Tombstone tourist trap--all are fun and all are close to this house. The owner is very accomodating and seriously wants you to enjoy yourself. He even had two loads of firewood and kindling delivered for us. The rental photos accurately depict the house. It was well cleaned and move in ready. Everything you need is there. We have already recommended it to friends!

Picture perfect views from all directions. What a great, great vacation. We stayed there through the fall and it's hard to describe how beautiful it was. What a great host, and the seclusion and privacy were just what we were looking for. This is our 14th year in Patagonia (we live in Central Michigan) and this was by far our best stay ever. We WILL be back next year! Thanks for the lovely stay. Rita and Ray Mayersky Saginaw, MI
Owner response:Thanks Ray and Rita. I hope next year you'll be able to get away for a longer vacation. August and September can be some of the most interesting months in the southern desert. Thank you very much for the grass you planted Ray, I hope you see the difference it makes next year. All the best.

We stayed here for a week in July. The house was beautiful and the views are amazing. We stayed there with our 1 year old and the house was perfect. The owner was wonderful and answered all of my questions ahead of time. The appliances were great and there are laundry facilities you can use. You take dirt roads to get to the house, so make sure to have a car that can handle it (especially if it rains). Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this house.
Owner response:Thanks! Hope to see you next year.

Just returned from a week in Patagonia and we feel so lucky to have chosen this rental. A little more than an hour from Tucson and worth every second of the drive. Patagonia is a great birding area. Everything about this place is A-one. We didn't want to leave the views and solitude and hope to return.
Owner response:We're glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your return! Thanks again

We have vacationed in SE Arizona four times now, and this stay was the best yet. The house is much nicer than we imagined, and the views from every window are breathtaking. Best of all is the absolute peace and quiet at night, and the spectacular star show in the dark sky. This was a birding vacation for us, and it's hard to beat Patagonia Lake State Park, which is only 12 miles away. Patagonia/Sonoita Creek Preserve is even closer, and good birding can be found there too. And right in town birders are welcome to visit the Paton's feeders; just walk around the house to the back yard, and visit with birders from all over the world as you watch Violet-crowned, Anna's, Rufous, and Broad-billed Hummingbirds. For any birders who might consider staying here, consider this: 95 species, 18 life birds. And it was our fourth birding trip to the area. The little town of Patagonia charmed us, and the people were very friendly. There is a tiny, but fully stocked health food store, and a small general market. The local coffee shop makes great lattes, and has wi-fi. There's a farmer's market, and the local wines are surprisingly good. We decided if you can't get it in Patagonia, you can probably get along without it. The rental process went smoothly, the house was exceptionally nice, and all-in-all this made for our best winter getaway yet. Can't imagine a better place to escape the gray skies and frigid weather of a northern winter.
Owner response:Thanks very much, Joe and Elise. Really excellent review and much appreciated. I have lots of improvements planned for this summer, and I hope to see you again next year. Thanks again
