Accommodations: Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
Keywords: Apartment
About our one bedroom unit:
This 800 square foot airy apartment is on the lower level of newly constructed 'Built Green' residence in a quiet neighborhood just north of downtown Seattle. Our home is located at the cross streets of NW 70th Street and 27th Avenue NW in the Ballard neighborhood.
The unit is a purpose-built, comfortable living space with full size windows that bring in lots of sun and extra-height ceilings; it is not a remodel of a damp old basement. It is decorated in light colors, the bathroom is tiled and rest of the space was finished with bamboo floors. You'll enjoy an open and cheery dining room and living room, TV with basic cable, free Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, a private bathroom and a bedroom with a comfy queen sized bed. A queen bed air mattress and/or a Pack 'n Play crib can be provided upon request for additional guests or children. The apartment is accessible via a ramp and the bathroom has a zero-entry shower.
Note: We do not have a land line for the apartment.
About our location:
Our home is a little less than a mile to the heart of Ballard's downtown where you will find coffee shops and lots of restaurants from which to choose. Four great coffee shops are just over a half mile away! We are three blocks or 0.2 miles from a bus stop that has two buses that will drop you off in the center of Ballard.
About the neighborhood of Ballard:
Ballard has been called 'a city within a city,' and has much to offer. A thriving waterfront and happening restaurant and entertainment scene have made this Scandinavian enclave one of Seattle's most fun areas. Here you'll find a diverse array of great restaurants, cute coffee shops, fun boutique shopping, the best pastries in the city (at Cafe Besalu), a year round Farmers Market, three grocery stores, a brand new library and park and more. You will be a short walk from Ballard's core and just down the hill from Phinney Ridge where the Woodland Park Zoo is located. The University of Washington and downtown Seattle are about 6 miles away.
Ballard is a great neighborhood for biking, just minutes to the Burke Gilman Trail. There are multiple parks and playgrounds sprinkled within walking distance for workouts, picnics or playtime for kids and adults alike. The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (great for boat/yacht watching), Green Lake, and Golden Gardens Beach Park are all just minutes away.
The perfect place to stay for your visit to Seattle!

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
My husband and I designed and built our home and this apartment in 2007. We included the apartment so our families would have a cozy place to stay nearby on extended visits while feeling like they had a space of their own. We live here full-time with our 3 year old daughter. Although not NW natives, Seattle has become our home.
Looking foward to hearing from you!
Amanda, Eric & Ruby
Why the Owner Chose Ballard
Ballard is a great neighborhood with all the amenities that any age person would want to enjoy. Close to downtown and all the hustle and bustle, but with a smaller community feel. We love it!
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
Our home is a couple of blocks away from express bus lines that will take you to downtown Seattle (#17 or 18). Other buses running nearby will take you to the University of Washington (#44, 46 or 48). We are also a short walk through residential streets to 'downtown' Ballard.

This VBRO apartment rental exceeded all our expectations! Amanda and Eric are organized, thoughtful homeowners which is reflected in every detail of their well-constructed "green" home. Their hospitality and attentiveness enhance the coziness of their home which is nestled in a residential area where every home has character and an unending variety of flora and fauna to take in on walks. The walks become mandatory after enjoying only a handful of the countless good eating establishments in Ballard. This was one of our most memorable vacations and we can't wait to come back!
Owner response:Thanks so much for your review. We were very pleased to hear from you while here that, of the homes your family rented for your son's wedding, that ours was the best! ;-) We hope you'll be back soon!

My husband and I stayed here while visiting our daughter who lives in Fremont. The apartment was just as described, very comfortable with everything we needed in warmly pleasant, exquitely clean, and newly decorated surroundings. A garden-level apartment but still seemed light-filled and open. Perfect for a couple but also could work well for a small family. Nicely situated, with ready access to a variety of Seattle and other Puget Sound attractions. We managed without renting a car but depended on rides from our daughter and her boyfriend, recent college graduates who dined out with us but also were at ease visiting and dining in with us using a nicely set up kitchen. The owners seem friendly and readily accessible, if needed, but not at all intrusive. Would highly recommend this place to friends and family, and would certainly stay there again. Our restaurant recommendations include the Bastille and La Isla.

We arrived in late August 2010 for a 4 week stay. The apartment was as advertised, bright and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen; we enjoyed our visit. Location was convenient to our family in Shoreline. It is an older, quiet walking neighborhood near shopping and restaurants. The apartment is not far from the water. We enjoyed visiting the locks and the Scandinavian museum. We also found nearby bakeries for fresh pastries and coffee. Amanda and Eric were very accomodating. We recommend staying here and we will return in the future.

My wife and I visited our daughter, her husband, and their new baby boy in August. The apartment was perfect for us. It was spacious and very comfortable, and included free Wi-Fi (we always bring our laptop on trips). Street parking was ample and easy. The location was very convenient. We love the shops and restaurants in downtown Ballard. We highly recommend this apartment. We visit the Seattle area 2 or 3 times a year and plan to stay here in the future.

Our stay at the New Ballard Apartment definitely exceeded our expectations. Everything was very clean and the kitchen exceptionally well-equipped. I would highly recommend this property for your next stay in Seattle.
Owner response:Thanks for your review! Mimi and Pop have stayed with us a number of times over this past year. We've enjoyed them inviting their grand children to come and stay in the apartment with them while visiting. Lots of fun!

This is the perfect place for a single or couple. It is bright and airy. The kitchen is fully equipped. I can't imagine you would need anything else as far as cooking utencils and dinnerware is concerned. This is located very conveniently to some GREAT coffee shops, restaurants, and to the main shopping area of Ballard. Also, you are within walking distance to Puget Sound views and parks. Parking on the street is easy if you bring a car. The closest bus stop is about a 3-4 minute walk. The Seattle bus system is awesome and easy to use. You could manage without a car, even from the airport. The new rail link from the airport to downtown Seattle is very convenient. If you're in town to visit relatives or to sightsee, this is the perfect place.
