The cabin was very clean, updated, and accessible to major attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The view was amazing and the pictures do not give the cabin justice. I would highly recommend this location to any individual or group looking for a cabin.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

12 young adults and two dogs stayed in this cabin for a weekend getaway. We had such a great time! There was tons of room and the cabin had plenty of extra sleeping spaces. It can easily accommodate 14 guests, or more if you bring air beds. The deck was our favorite part between the hot tub, rocking chairs, and amazing view! We barely used the lower deck and downstairs rec room (except for sleeping) but it was nice to have so much available space. Some of us took the 35 min or so drove to see the sites of downtown Gatlinburg. The other half of our group went to the Cade's Cove area of the national park, also about 35-40 min away. It has a pretty scenic car loop and easy 2.5 mile hike to Abrams Falls. Don't try to use your GPS - follow the directions from the office. Clean, spacious, affordable, great location. Great cabin all around!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We are frequent visistors to The Runaway. It is a very spacious, comfortable place to stay. Our friends really enjoy hanging out on the back deck. The view is amazing, especially in the fall! It's convenient to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg if you want to eat out or do some shopping. We've never had a bad experience there and will be returning.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Let me start by saying that this cabin was a great experience for my wife and myself! We headed up to Runaway Cabin for a short weekend getaway back in August and could not have been more pleased. This is cabin is an excellent mountain getaway for couple or small groups. The cabin was very easy to find and navigate upon arrival. We found it to be very clean and in good shape on arrival. We stayed in the upper loft which was fantastic for the sunrise since we are early risers. However, if sleeping in is your thing there are two great bedrooms on the middle floor. There was full compliment of basic dish ware and kitchen appliances for all of our cooking needs. We also found the gas grill very easy to use for grilling some steaks! There is a very cool game room downstairs if you are bringing the kids or a youth group. We really enjoyed the hot tub at night. You will need to read the instructions before use, but it was very easy to operate. May I recommend turning on the lighting system that accompanies the jets in the hot tub! So much fun. Probably our favorite aspect of the cabin is the wraparound porch that includes a fantastic view of the smokies complete with rocking chairs of your comfort! There is also a bar style table outside on the porch near the grill. My wife and I had breakfast at this location on Saturday morning and I have to say it was one of my favorite memories. All in all this cabin was a great experience and my only regret is that we could not stay longer. Runaway Cabin you get 5 stars from this couple and we hope to see you again soon!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have been to Pigeon Forge many times but this was our first time spending Christmas with our family there. The cabin is very pretty, the pictures on the website do not do it justice. It was also very roomy. The cabin was decorated in tasteful country decor along with Christmas trees and lights. The kitchen is well stocked. We usually stay on the side of Wears Valley closer to the Walden Creek area. This is very far out (7 miles)Wears Valley Rd closer to the Cades Cove area. We arrived as it was getting dark and it was raining very hard. My elderly parents were following us in their van.The road is very dark and curvy so we had a hard time finding the rental office. On arriving there they gave us a map and said to call them if we had any trouble whatsoever. The road going up into Dogwood farms was a nightmare in the rain after dark. There is a 90 degree turn with no room for error that immediately goes straight up. We were in a jeep and my tires spun trying to get up this hill. Needless to say, my parents van had an even scarier ride. Once we got there and got inside the living room ceiling was leaking. Rain was pouring down right in the middle of the coffee table, we had to get a large pan to put under it. We called the rental office twice but they never called us back. When the rain stopped, the leak did as well. The next couple of days, it got colder. My husband and I were sleeping in the bedroom on the basement level. It has a very loud furnace in the closet. On Christmas Eve night we got woke up by the furnace in the closet sounding like it was going to blow up! We could not get it to shut off and we smelled fumes. Finally after everyone in the house was awake, we managed to get the thermostat to turn down enough to shut off the furnace for a while. Needless to say we moved to another bedroom upstairs and didn't get much sleep that night. We also found that turning right out of Dogwood Farms and staying on that road will take you to the strip in Pigeon Forge much quicker than the way the rental office map had us going. I would have to say I am not sure we would rent this cabin again or recommend it for the obvious reasons. It did have a decent view, but there is a huge tree that is smack in the middle of the view. In all fairness I must state that I did not contact the owner of the cabin after our stay to report any of this because it would not have changed the outcome of our stay. Despite all the inconveniences,we had a good time.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Very nice place.Had everything we needed plus.Beautiful views esp. from the loft. Loved waking up to the beautiful scenery.Met a curious raccoon and a squirrel that knocked on the door but no bears. We found it much quicker to go right out of Dogwood and then take Pine Mtn. Road to middle of strip in Pigeon Forge.(5 Mi. total). We enjoyed our stay and would reccommend this cabin.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This is a cabin that is very roomy, clean and had nice views of the valley and the strip in the background, not the Smoky Mountains National Park. We had a raccoon family visiting our trash every night which was fun for the kids, not so fun for me cleaning up every morning. I love to cook, and these racoons figured they could get a free meal. It was quiet, there are neighboring cabins, but they are vacant and for sale, with trees to block any clear view of neighbors. Easy access to Dollywood, the national park, shopping, etc., nice and quiet. Plenty of outdoor seating, I liked that alot! It was an excellant cabin for the price.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Eight girl cousins gathered at the Runaway last weekend and had a fabulous time! There was a peaceful atmosphere and the accommodations and view were wonderful. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms were all nice and comfy! And the laundry area wasn’t some little closet stuck in a hallway…it was a big room with plenty of space! It was very nice to have internet access and big television screens to watch our favorite channels and our DVDs. One thing I personally appreciated was the layout of the place. Most of us wanted to stay up late and others weren’t such ‘night owls’ - but it wasn’t a problem for anybody! Because of the location of some of the rooms, it worked out just fine for everyone. We girls try to get together every spring and are already planning to book our special weekend at the Runaway for 2011! Thanks for helping us make good memories in a lovely place!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
