A large door leads you from the street, Via Maestranza, into a peaceful courtyard. Up one flight of stairs (exterior) brings you to the gated entrance of this exquisite flat. Ideal for a discerning couple or two, the home has been thoughtfully decorated with an eclectic combination of antique and classic furnishings.

Main floor.
Gracious Foyer opens into a stunning GRAND ROOM with high ceiling and original fresco. A tall window with small balcony overlooks via Maestranza, and a little gothic window adds a magical touch! Inviting sitting area plus 6-piece formal dining table.
On the same floor is a study/den with new leather sofa-bed and comfortable armchairs. Adjacent bathroom with bathtub/shower, bidet, toilet and sink. Murano glass overhead lamp and hand-crafted mirror compliment the black and white tiles.
Large modern kitchen which has just been furnished with all amenities.
Off the kitchen is a small terrace, which is on the courtyard side of the building. No great views from the terrace, but sweet and inviting, with lots of lovingly-attended plants and flowers.

Anne and John are a semi-retired Canadian couple from the province of Nova Scotia. They fell in love with Ortigia and their magnificent home there, and decided to take on the adventure of living abroad. For the few months a year when they are not residing in Ortigia, they hope to rent their flat to discerning guests. Anne has been traveling to Italy for close to 40 years, and her daughters have inherited her passion for the country!

Our home is located on an upscale street, in the heart of town, just off of Piazza Archimede - one of the town's most popular meeting places. The home is accessed through an interior courtyard, and up one flight of stairs. The building dates back to the 1700's, and there is a historic plaque in the front - "PALAZZO SPAGNA 1760". The house is spacious with all modern conveniences plus a spectacular grand room with a stunning frescoed ceiling and Gothic window.
