Our cottage is located on the island of Samar, 5000 miles west of Hawaii, and one of the 7,107 islands of the Philippine Archipelago- and the 3rd largest of the group. We live in a gated community called Paradise Village, on a 1600 sq. meter piece of land within a haven of coconut trees, and right on the water.
Paradise Village is a community with several foreigners, most having Filipina wives, who have discovered Chris and Theresa's website, and who now live either full time, or have made their homes a vacation home and who visit regularly, or have made a home to prepare themselves for future retirement- for those of you interested, we have designed a few pages, too lengthily here to describe, which we will send- when you inquire! A thorough description of what you will need and need to know if you become one of the few who decide to step out of the western world, and into ours here, on the Island of Samar. On the island, we do it, island style!

I am Uncle Dan, and my wife Ellie. We met in Luneta Park, Manila, in 1974, fell in love, got married, and just celebrated our 35th anniversary. We have 9 children. In the Philippines, we believe in Family Planting! As you can see, Ellie is a Filipina, although since i am from Hawaii and we do live in Hawaii, we go to our cottage 3 times a year, until we can be there more often, in the future! Hmmmmm. The Future!?? ITS a mystery! And the Past? Its History!! But this moment, right now!? Its a GIFT! That's why its called, "THE PRESENT"!! Why the Owner Chose Northern Samar Island
WHY? Having lived thru-out the archipelago from 74-87, and due to my work which led me into many rural, beautiful areas of the many islands of the country, having occasionally encountered a foreignor who chose to marry and settle in their little "shangrila's", where they were living so comfortably on so little money, i would think to myself, " Hmmm, someday- someday i want to come back and retire here", and so while planning a vacation to visit Ellie's family back in 06, having been away from the Philippines for 20 years, i stumbled across Chris's website. Then i remembered those islands and those thots of returning, called my wife, and said, "Hon! Hon! Look what we can have down on this Isand!"
Would you like another another answer to that question, WHY?---------- to escape the madness of the western world, and all their lame excuses to lead the world into unnecessary wars, when they should be "loving their neighbors" instead of hurting them. And, because we found a world of simplicity, where people here are simple, and where the cost of living is very affordable, and where beauty abounds, sea life is plentiful, and the islands? the many islands you can sail to and..........? you'll just have to come an answer that question for yourselves-- why? You'll only truly know my answer to that question, when you come-

Our island's uniqueness itself makes it unique and its beauty and its people, and possibly, if you strike up a conversation with some of the locals who migrated here from all 4 corners of the earth, some very interesting conversations and life changing sessions may just transpire, and new experiences which i myself would not be able to predict- these are all part of the unique benefits and adventures which await you here. And who knows? you may just see what we saw, and say" Hon!? Look at what we can have for $76,000- a 1/2 acre piece of land, on the water, in a gated community, roads, elect. and a deep well of artisian water included, on a beautiful island, in a cool country........(go figure the cost of that in Hawaii)" and then...........? well, you know our #---------
