The cottage was charming, comfortable and spacious enough for our family of five. Although the beach across the street is rocky, it has excellent snorkeling -- in fact, the best we found anywhere on Eleuthera. It's also easy to get to sandy beaches nearby. We loved the sunsets from the front porch and the incredibly starry night sky.

My husband and I and our 11 year old son stayed at the house from July 8th til July 16th and what a slice of heaven. The house has evrything you need and more. Went grocery shopping for provisions for the week. We ate at the Cove which is a five minute walk from the house, it is a little pricey but the food is divine. I recommend the Lamb Chops (I had them four times). The Laughing Lizard is a great place to stop to check in at home(free internet) and the sandwiches are great. The beach in front of the house is prefect for snorkeling and just soaking in the warm water. It is a lot of work to caryy the kayaks down to the beach but it was nice having the use of them. Went to lots of different beaches, one of our favortives was Alabaster and the food there at that restrauant was great too ( lots of shells there). All and all a wonderful vacation and a great get away from it all. That you Per Yde family for the great house and wonderful amentities.

this was my first visit to eleuthera and defintely will not be my last, the island is wonderful. the house is centrally located and we were able to explore the island from one end to the other without any difficulty. the beaches are beautiful with very few people on them. the house is cozy and sleeps four comfortably, and it had everything you could possibly need. maurice, the grounds keeper is very friendly, prompt when called and knew people to meet all our needs, such as deep sea fishing, etc. the owners of the property recommended wallace for a car rental and he was also wonderful, he picked us up at the airport and had the car at the house waiting for us. (i do recommend stopping at a store before arriving at the house to at least pick up drinks). at the house there are kayaks and bicycles which we used daily, there is also information about the island with directions to many beaces which we found very helpful. be sure to bring snorkeling gear, this is a must. a car is also a must. thank you per yde for allowing us to rent your home and for all you did, hope to return soon.
Owner response:Thank you for your kind review. We hope you return soon.

My wife and I spent the first part of our honeymoon here and it was perfect. The home is spacious, well kept, and has a very relaxed island feel. When we weren't exploring the island in our rental car (thanks, Wallace!), we relaxed on the front porch, lounged and watched movies, or cooked our meals in the well-stocked kitchen. We didn't need the air conditioning much, but it worked great when used. It was nice to be able to do some laundry too. We stayed at the Cove for the rest of our trip and it was very nice too, but we missed having the spacious house and amenities. We would love to return to this house on vacation someday, hopefully for an anniversary.
Owner response:Thank you for the kind review and for taking well care of our house. You guys are welcome back any time.

We just returned from our stay at Bella Mare. Our week was everything we expected and more. The cottage is beautifully and tastefully decorated and provided a great view of the cove. Centrally located on the island, too. It was a very relaxing time for us. There is a great selection of dvd's and cd's. Never missed having a tv. The kitchen was very well stocked with anything one needs to make a meal. Having a cell phone available was very convenient because we did not have US cell service. We bought a phone card which worked very well. We used the kayaks which were fun to explore the coves with. The queen bed was very comfortable. We never used the air conditioner because the air flow through the house with the celing fans on was perfect. You definitely need a car and Wallace was a great resource. We had dinner at the Cove which is a short walk, listened to music at Elvinas and the Rainbow Inn. Bought some fresh baked goods at Thompson's bakery in town. Shopped at Pam's. Bought groceries at The Bluff which had by far the best selection of vegees and meats. Maurice was available any time we needed anything. Thanks again, Per, for opening up your home. Truly a little slice of heaven.
Owner response:We appreciate your review and we are very happy you enjoyed your stay at Bella Mare.

The house was perfect just like the pictures and included everything in the description. A car is needed to explore the island. The grocery store, liquor store and gas station were all very close by. Make sure you try the homemade bread from the pink house. Everyone on the island is very friendly and helpful so be sure to wave to everyone. Pams island made shop is the best for gifts. Per was easy to get ahold of if anything is needed and Maurice the groundskeeper was right there as well. The bathrooms were very clean and updated and the bed was very comfortable. We had no complaints with the house or trip.

My wife and I had a wonderful time on Eleuthera and at Bella Mare! The property is in a very convenient location, and the owners couldn't have been more helpful in working with us on rental cars and travel arrangments. The property is in a very safe neighborhood with a wonderful beach. All of the neighbors introduced themselves right away, and the kayaks and bikes were a great added value! Both bedrooms are large and well appointed, and the bathrooms are newly remodeled and very nice. Great centralized location on the island; make sure to check out Elvina's, the Cove, and The Rainbow Inn, they are all close (especially The Cove) and have great people, food, and drinks. Make sure to use Wallace Sands for your rental cars or any other local needs, he can help you with anything!

We snorkeled everyday, visited different beaches and explored the island. We loved Lighhouse beach with turquoise clear water and a great coral reef to snorkel. The locals are very friendly and helpful. Empty beaches wherever we went. A perfect place to enjoy a last week of summer before the winter season begins.

The house was great. We enjoyed the island and it was very quiet. We did get some fishing in and even some lobster spearing. Your coffee table book with the beaches was priceless. We visited about 15 of them and had a blast. We initially intended to island hop, and instead spent the whole time on the island.

The Beaches were incredable. The most beautiful, in our opinion, was Lighthouse Beach. The snorkeling was also amazing and the clear, turquoise water made it even better.
