Surround yourself in luxury. The newly constructed property has all the modern conveniences. Each of the two homes has incredible vaulted ceilings and unique architecture that allows an incredible amount of light in. Air conditioning and ceiling fans cool both houses on hot days.
You’ll love the oversized gourmet kitchen with its oversized table in the kitchen. All of the furniture and cabinetry have been custom made. The open air living room has locally made rocking chairs with beautiful views. Two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed and its own bath, and a laundry room complete the main house.
The second home or casita has a large open living area that opens to a beautiful in ground pool that is covered in rich dark blue glass tiles. The casita contains a private bedroom with queen size bed and attached bathroom. Along with its open air sleeping porch, with two twin beds. Specialty cookware, dinnerware and glassware, charcoal grill, iPod station and exterior dining make Casas de las Mariposas a paradise in Costa Rica!
The 1 ½ acre property has butterfly gardens and an abundance of tropical landscapes that include flowering orchids and shrubs. A seasonal stream runs through the property and provides a wonderful background sound day or night. We have impeccably maintained pool and gardens.
Relax in one of the hammocks on the property listening to the howler monkeys, wild parrots or toucans. Casa de las Mariposas is great for couples traveling together, or families that would like some extra space. Everything you need for a perfect tropical getaway is located here! The area offers a large variety of outdoor activities, and there are many organized tours available. Enjoy a wonderful horseback ride to the Panica waterfall or along the beach. Scheduling a boat trip to Tortuga Island is also an excellent way to enjoy snorkeling and a day on the unique white sand beach. Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation, Casa de las Mariposas is the right spot for you.
The villas are in a perfect location with access to variety of beaches with both black and white sand only minutes away. For surfers, Mal Pais and Playa Santa Teresa is a quick 25 minute drive. Montezuma, a lovely artist colony and great area for lively nightlife, is also about 20 minutes from the villa. There are two golf courses (one 9 hole and one 18 hole) located minutes from the property. A variety of restaurants are located within a few minutes drive from the house. Everything from fine dining, Italian, a pizza place in the middle of the jungle and local Tico style food. The location is pristine, and the area offers everything one would require for a fabulous vacation in Costa Rica.
For an additional fee, we can gladly arrange for your pick up at the airport in Tambor or the ferry in Paquera. Arrangements can also be made to pick you up at the San Jose or Liberia airports. We can assist you with ideas to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible!

I have stayed at this beautiful retreat home before. I am looking forward to going back soon. It is truly such a "Happy Place" to be. The homes themselves are so beautifully decorated and designed from the open windows everywhere, to the comfortable, cozy beds to the nice bathrooms.The owners have put such love and imagination in the whole layout of this garden paradise. I love the flowering plants that attract the butterflies and hummingbirds. It is nice to have cafe with Lorenzo, the grounds keeper who has taken great care of the gardens. He is a nice tico. The people who live around here a very kind.The pool in the center of the garden is such a delight. The kitchen in the main house is also incredible, stocked with everything a chef could possibly need.Many great times in the kitchen with the awesome family table. The beaches, waterfalls, Montezuma, Santa Teresa, snorkeling off Tortuga, horseback riding on the beach and into the country are just a few of the many things to do when staying in this area. I highly recommend staying at this beautiful home.

This place is perfect! You can tell the owners take pride and stay there. The architecture and detail is amazing in both the main and guest homes. We love how open the homes are - it was constructed in harmony with the surrounding tropical environment and gardens. Windows all around the main house allow you to open the house up and allow your senses to take in the nature around the home. We really enjoyed sitting in the living room/patio which has a screen in place of a wall and listen/watch the tropical rain or hummingbirds. The kitchen is better than ours at home. If you thought people really hang out in the kitchen before, wait until you stay here. We had good times there. Walking down to the guest house you'll enjoy the cute little creek that flows thru the property. The guest house is nice for a couple or kids to stay in and has the pool adjacent. We had some good pool parties there with the bar and music. Also if you can speak even a little spanish, we recommend that you take the time to have a coffee with Don Lorenzo, the groundskeeper. He is a REAL Tico and it's a good opportunity to learn a bit about their culture. If you want to eat out - recommend Costa Coral restaurant in Tambor. Good service, food and drinks. They are very accomodating with special diets in case. If you have questions just ask the owners. They are super cool and helpful with any information on the house/area.

We stayed at Casa de las Mariposas to celebrate my friends birthday. What an outstanding place! We loved the rockers in the living room, especially to have a cup of coffee in the morning and listen to the monkeys. After breakfast we'd lounge at the pool. We really loved the floating lounge chairs! The ice maker at the casita is wonderful! We were making all of the tropical drinks you could think of with no worry about having enough ice! Naps in the hammocks were also a daily routine as well as seeing the chickens that made their way from the neighbors yard to see what was going on. The house is close to the beach too. We went to Tambor beach and basically had the entire beach to ourselves! AWESOME! We enjoyed ourselves SO MUCH and will look forward to staying at this garden paradise again!

Have you ever felt like you were a star in the movie, "Raiders of the Lost Ark"? Our trip to Costa Rica and visit to Casa de las Marirposa was an adventure in the tropical jungle, combined with a stay at a villa, during the filming! Enjoying the comforts of Casa de las Mariposa, is like staying at a five star spa resort that is surrounded by a private garden. There wasn't anything that we could think of, that wasn't already there! The main house contains 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen with every appliance and all the details. It includes an entertainment room overlooking a beautiful garden, the guesthouse and the surrounding landscape... Speaking of the detached guest house, it has an entertainment patio and a private swimming pool. You name it, and it's all there, plus more... Views, views,views! You'll feel like a movie star, come and visit!

Casa de las Mariposas is a wondrous place were you can experience Costa Rica in its most natural setting while having all of the comforts of home. While relaxing by the sparkling pool on my last visit, I closed my eyes and could hear the sound of howler monkeys in the distance, the trickling creek behind me, the breeze rustling through the many Pochote trees and the laughter of friends enjoying the sun and scenery. The furnishings are comfortable and the kitchen is fully stocked with gadgets for the most experienced chef! Beaches and local restaurants are just a short drive away. Be sure to wave to the locals as they are very friendly. I will be back again and again!
