I stayed in the Hibiscus Suite for 10 days and had a wonderful time. There were plenty of bikes to use, which was a great alternative to get to town (3 minutes away on bike). It's the perfect location to the best part of the beach. The place was very clean, lots of towels and a nice big kitchen. There's a wonderful heated outdoor shower for those long beach days and a place to store your surf boards. I can't wait to come back

We stayed in this property for 2weeks and rose everyday to the sound of the surf and the wind rustling through the palms .................... Spent way too much time contemplating the world lying in the hammock trying to decide which other beach to go to and should we buy fresh fish or have someone else cook instead :~)

We love the location of this beautiful home - so many conveniences - close to the beach, outdoor foot shower, chairs, bikes, sand toys provided. Maile was fabulous to work with as well - very prompt in her responses and willing to help make the vacation a great one. The beds were all comfortable and the place was very clean upon our arrival. Thank you!

As background, stayed for a week in June at the Hanalei Villa, in the Hibiscus suite. Family of four with two young children. The suite itself was a wonderful surprise, if anything exceeding our expectations from the photos. Very high ceilings, great natural light, good amenities. The kitchen is amazing as are the two terraces - despite the proximity to some very nice restaurants we chose on seven occasions to have a family BBQ on the terrace to really enjoy the setting. The main bedroom is comfortable, the fold out bed for the kids was ok but not great. The access to the laundry was very welcome given the young kids too. Oh, and the jacuzzi was a real blast! Maile was extremely responsive and frindly both in helping us prepare our stay and during/after. In terms of location it is pretty unbeatable: just opposite the beach access, yet walking distance to the village. The beach was definitely the highlight, the bay is beautiful for running, swimming or surfing. Kauai is a fabulous island, the development has been managed very well and the vibe is very relaxed. The scenery is incredibly beautiful. It did rain quite a bit during our stay but given the warm temperatures it did not stop us from being active: kayaking up the Hanalei river in a small storm was one of my daugthe's highlights! All in all two thumbs up: didn't want to leave!

Owner response: Update: We have had the fold out bed in the Hibiscus suite changed. It is now super comfortable!

Kauai and the Hanalei Villa exceeded our high expectations in every way! We stayed in the Gardenia Suite and loved the light, airy space, the convenience to everything we wanted to do on the North Shore (especially long walks on the beautiful beach across the street!) and the beautiful balcony which provided a more romantic and better view than any restaurant around. The apartment is in a lovely neighborhood and was clean and comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was exactly what we needed after a long hike on the Napali Coast. The host was generous with information and contacts for things to do and places to eat. We will definitely return to Kauai and absolutely stay here again.

We had a mid-September trip to Hanalei and the weather was perfect. Most importantly, our vacation rental was perfect. We stayed in the Plumeria suite. It was a highly affordable 2 bedroom rental with a kitchen, full bathroom (awesome shower), dining area and living area. The rental is literally a few steps away from the beach. We checked out the entire island, and Hanalei was the best in our opinion. Our land lady, Maile, was the most hospitable person I have ever met. Thank you. We will use this place again in our future visits to the island.

We truely enjoyed Hanalei and the north shore. The location of this property made it easy for us to do different activities: hiking, snorkling, swimming, paddling or surfing. Walking or cycling to town was also a bonus. The owners are accommodating and pleasant to deal with and the people on the north shore are extremely polite, friendy and patient. Visiting this area on Kauwai is a must!

This is a wonderful home with views the website do not do justice to. Waking up and swimming in the ocean across the street was a treat even for us who live on island. Being able to walk or bike through town and enjoy the north shore so conveniently is the BEST! Love the place! My highest recommendations!

While on my honeymoon, my husband and I stayed at the Hanalei Villa on the island of Kauai. We had the most perfect experience! We loved the Hibiscus suite... it was so relaxing and we were minutes from beautiful Hanalei Bay. The house was prime location to bike to Hanalei town for a quick lunch or shopping at the various boutiques. I am going to recommend this rental to all my friends at the country club! Thanks Maile!

This house is perfectly located. It is across the street from the beach. You can walk out of the house, across the street and be in a public park with grass that leads to a lifeguarded beach in less then a minute. There is nothing like waking up and taking a morning walk on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The yard has a nice, tall fence around it with plants and trees that provide privacy from neighbors and beachgoers. You can walk to the town in five minutes and you can walk down the street to another park with the ocean and the pier on one side and the river on the other. You can rent surf boards, paddle boards and kayaks there. Everything you could want is close by. In town (5 minutes walk) you can go to the different restaurants Two that I like are: Tahiti Nui (thenui.com), where George Cloony recently filmed a scene and Baracuda (restaurantbaracuda.com), Java Kai Coffee has a great atmosphere and is a good place to people watch and eat breakfast, the health food store has a great salad bar and smoothies and Hanaleidolphin has a good fish market with take out sushi (hanaleidolphin.com). There are also two farmers markets. Saturday mornings and Tuesday afternoons. The house has everything you could need. Great location, great views, several different lanais, super nice and attentive owners who live on the North Shore and are a phone call away, Comfortable beds, cool bathrooms, interesting books and magazines, lot's of extra towels and a nice laundry room with a new washer and dryer. Consider staying for a week or two if you can. It can take a few days to get into the rhythm of Hanalei and the North Shore but once you do you may never want to leave.

My family and I have been visiting Hanalei every year for the last 10 years and I can honestly say that this is my favorite home in Hanalei by far. My wife and I stayed for two weeks in the Hibiscus suite and had the most relaxing vacation of our lives. I surfed every day while my wife took beach walks and layed out by the bay. The kitchen is awesome for cooking and we loved the huge jacuzzi tub. The rooftop deck is my favorite part of the house. We will definitely be coming back next year and the year after :) .

My husband and I realized too late that we had a very nice timeshare in Princeville we could have stayed in the rest of our week for virtually pennies. We thought we would return to the condo if we didn't like the one bedroom Hibiscus suite I booked last minute, but when we walked through the doors, there was no turning back. We both absolutely fell in love with it! We LOVED the light and airy feeling of the Hibiscus suite, the spaciousness, the ocean views, the well-equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the refreshing breezes through the many light-filled windows. I relaxed on the one of the 2 lanais in the morning with my coffee and laptop [wireless access provided]. We rode through the neighborhood on the bikes left for renters to use. Access to the beach is right across the street. The town is just a couple minutes walk away. The owners are so friendly and accommodating as well. There is no doubt that we would return and possibly rent the whole house with friends or family. Thanks for such a memorable few days at your lovely home. I can't wait to come back!

if you'd like to experience hanalei bay in front and center, textbook quality, the hanalei villa is for you. We love the clean, open layout of the house, the gorgeous views, spacious kitchen and rooftop deck. Casual, clean, and just steps from the beach park, we continually think of our next possible opportunity to come back. The owners are the nicest people on the planet, and ensure that you feel at home during your stay. For couples, the hibiscus suite is romanitc and ideal. You will not be disappointed. Aloha!

Overall, the stay was pleasurable. The location to the bay was great. Owner provided bikes that were perfect for biking to the market in town or down to the pier. Outdoor shower was nice and hot. Outdoor surfboard storage a plus. Jacuzzi was great for post-surf relaxation (hot water heater is a little weak, though, so the tub couldn't get too full). Kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. Minus is that there is no breakfast table or anything to eat at - just the bar with bar stools. The property managers, who have lived there for 30 years, were very helpful in finding everything we needed locally and helpful advice. The biggest draw back to this suite is the suite that adjoins it. The two units are separated by double doors located off the kitchen. There was a family with a baby staying in the other unit while we were there and the baby woke us up every night. The owner was nice enough to offer to refund us our unstayed nights, though. Everything they did and said was clearly heard in our unit all the way to the bedroom, even if there hadn't been a baby. Might be smart to inquire if there is another party staying next door or not. We really enjoyed our stay there, but the lack of quiet or privacy was a huge drawback.

Owner response: Hanalei is a very popular beach with the international surfing crowd. This is Sasha's first time in Hanalei and upon leaving he told us he would like to return. I would suggest that he rent an air conditioned condo in Princeville where he could have quiet and also be able to cook for his next visit. We enjoyed talking to him and regret that this vacation was not perfect. The surf was also not very good for the few days he visited and that must have also added to his disappointment. Regarding the hot water situation it is solar powered and when the sun is not out the back up is electric. The 2 person jacuzzi holds 120 gallons of water. We have a brand new water tank which has the largest capacity water heater available which holds 120 gallons. If the adjoining suite also uses their double sized jacuzzi and the sun is not out there will be about one hour before the system restores the water temp. He called us almost every day for advice and I wish that he would have asked us about the hot water. The folks in the adjoining suite had a baby who was teething and having difficulty sleeping. The neighbors are no further away than the adjoining suite. As far as the sounds from the adjoining suite or for that matter the neighbors, since there is no air conditioning in any home in Hanalei everyone leaves their windows wide open, especially in the summer. That is different than most hotel rooms which only have windows on one side of the hotel and thus the need for air-conditioning and the added benefit , the quiet. We have windows on all sides for flow through air but it comes with the sounds of the community. The trash man comes at 4:30 every Tuesday morning. In the summer the roosters are crowing at 5AM and sometimes dogs and babies make noise at night. If you like to sleep in or need total quiet better stay at a hotel. This is a community of people who have babies and pets, which all make noise. I do not think that he could find a more quiet setting in all of Hanalei and still be so close to the beach.

Excellent view; nice kitchen; comfortable bed; average furniture; nice bathroom but needs some TLC. Maile we had a wonderful time. Thank you. Somethings we noted that could have been improved- a few spices and cooking oil in the kitchen saves your guests so much money. People who stay there are obviously going to cook in but to buy salt/pepper/garlic powder/olive oil just for a few days is crazy. Matches for the grill also was something we had to go buy. Last time we were in Hanalei these small things were provided and it was just a nice touch. We stayed when the house was empty except for us- which was wonderful but I could only imagine if people were in another suite and looking into our kitchen window while we cooked breakfast in our pjs...May want to put some plants in or blinds to add more privacy to the kitchen area. This again was not a problem for us this time but I would be worried about it if booking in the future. I loved the window open too- great view but could invision a perfect stranger sunbathing on their patio while we cooked our breakfast. Something to think about. The furniture could be updated but was ok. The bed was comfy- linens of good quality was nice. The bathroom- shower was amazing! We loved it. We did notice a mildew smell however. I would recommend some good bleaching and caulking to get it back into good condition! We couldn't get the CD player to work which was disappointing with all the CDs there. Something else we appreciated last time- the owner provided a book or two on Kauai and some local flyers/advertisements. We used them as reference guides while we stayed in the home. I would consider staying there again and I would recommend the suite to friends. I thought the advertisement was a accurate description of the location. We enjoyed our stay overall! How could we not- Mahalo, Heather & Brian

Owner response: Thank you for these suggestions. We are always available to help our renters with anything they may need to make their vacation better. In response to these suggestions: we were unaware that the cd player was broken and it has been fixed. We do not leave spices or local flyers in the house as it is not hygienic. However there are tons of free flyers and magazines all over kauai and at the airport. Even better, renters may call us directly and we would love to answer any questions or give recommendations. The bathtub has been caulked and we added blinds to the kitchen for added privacy. Again, thank you for these suggestions which help to make our home even better. Aloha!

Hello, I have had the pleasure of renting out the whole hanalei villa and I loved every part of it. The views from the upstairs rooms and roof deck are amazing and the access to the yard, outdoor showers and fruit trees (tangelos and avocado YUMMMM) were such great amenities on the bottom floor. You cant beat the location and it is a short walk away from the best grocery store in hanalei, Papayas. The owners are great to work with and the home is a great value...I am looking forward to coming back!
