Waterfront Cabin: 190 Feet of Shoreline, Fishing, Relaxation & More!
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Some of the best fishing in the Upper MN region! Guests have caught some of their best fish (Northern, Bass, Walleye and Crappie) right off the dock on this spring fed, clear lake while others have had great stories and catches from offshore and around the lake’s centerpiece: an all-natural island with reeds, sandbars and fish-interest all around. Enjoy this very private 1000 sq ft home on 2 acres of land and 190 feet of shoreline on a quiet 300 acre lake 7 miles outside of downtown Detroit Lakes for your “up north” experience!
Inside the cabin, there are stunning views of the lake from the screened in patio, the dining table, even from the kitchen sink! This three bedroom, two bath, lake home sleeps eight adults comfortably. The house is fully furnished with all linens, pillows, towels, dishes, etc. Each of the three bedrooms have closets, queen beds and ceiling fans. The master bedroom has its own private bathroom with shower. A second bathroom with shower and washer/dryer are available for your use. The full size couch has a pull out bed if additional sleeping area is needed. The cabin is stocked with games, puzzles and a small assortment of toys for those rainy days. If it's not there, it's because we’ve never needed it in the time we’ve spent there.
Aside from the cozy cabin interior, this property offers more than just a roof to sleep under and a dock to launch the boat from. The roomy 2 acre exterior, provides ample spaces for family activities. From the many lawn spaces for outdoor games (like the included Bocce, Darts, Bean Bags), the fire pit with a natural oak tree canopy, to the gravel bottomed lake shore perfect for swimming and wading (the sunfish swim between your legs if you’re still!) there is enough room here for your family to gather for a more relaxed, less crowded vacation.
Along with the dock, the swim raft and boat lift are available for your use, (there is a public boat launch 1/4 mile away). If you don’t want to bring a boat, feel free to use the canoe to explore the lake in silence. Previous guests have found that they get much closer to the island with the canoe and have been able to “swim with the loons” (the loons dive under the canoe in the shallows of the island) and to observe the bald eagle that nests on the island.
If the peace and quiet of the lake and cabin aren’t enough to calm you, you can walk or boat to Eagle Lake Resorts for one of their many day spa and relaxation events. If you feel the need for shopping or entertainment, all the amenities of the city are within a 10 minute drive. The developing communities of Detroit Lakes and the surrounding areas offer a wide variety of events, parks and restaurants that the entire family can enjoy. Frazee is a very charming community and the Frazee Turkey days are a blast. Check out the local community calendars for a listing of events and activities during your stay! Also, every summer, We Fest brings the best of Country music within a 15 minute drive.
The home is available on a weekly basis May-Sept

Having spent much time in "lake country" during my childhood I have wanted to take my own children on a vacation in the Detroit Lakes area. This vacation lived up to all of my expectations! The cabin is very tidy and comfortable for myself, my wife and three children with room to spare. Me made full use of the dock, swimming platform, canoe and all the other goodies supplied. There are enough hungry sunfish at the end of the dock you won't need worms. The owners were very responsive and helpful with any questions we had before and during our stay. The location is very convenient and near many of the local attractions. We are already contemplating a return visit next summer.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: So happy to hear that you all had a good time. We would love to have your family return!

This was my first time with a rental vacation property. Was not disappointed. The owner, Stacey was very friendly and answered all of my many questions. Thanks Stacey. The lake was great with very little traffic. At times we were the only boat on the lake. The cabin had everything we needed to help make our vacation one to remember. Would definately recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quiet relaxing vacation. Even my 4 grown up children loved it here--which says alot.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: One of my main goals is to respond to renters questions and concerns as quickly as possible. There are no questions too great or too small! We are pleased to be able to serve you and your family and hope to have you visit us again!

My extended family and I stayed at this wonderful cabin as our yearly summer vacation "up north." This cabin was very clean and had all the comforts of home. The best part of the property is its location on Eagle Lake. This is a quiet, perfect lake with little traffic and excellent fishing. In fact, my son who is 2.5 and fished for the first time off the dock was very spoiled in his wait time, as you could see all the sunnies swarming the hook! This area is beautiful and fun to explore- the larger Detroit lakes to the north and the smaller charming Perham to the south. We loved both of these areas. Overall an excellent stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were so happy with your place and we had a great time. We drove past the sign from Detroit Lakes but once we knew that we could find it by watching for the Quonsets on that side of the road we had it made. The directions were very easy to follow we just missed probably because we were talking. I was at the cabin for a week by my self after our family left and it was so peaceful, but they have all kinds of sports equipment, games(indoor and outdoor) that fit our family great. Inside they had everything you needed and more. We so enjoyed the lake home and would not hesitate to rent it again. Thank you so much it made me think maybe we should live by the lake in the summer and Arizona in the winter. Our grandchildren really loved fishing and the canoe was a big hit with the older group. We all just had such a great time!!!!! The listing decription was right on and the photos were as the lake home was as we were told, Very clean as well as very kept up. The owner was extremely helpful with all of my questions and concerns. I would recommend this property to everyone I am around and there so much to do in Detroit Lakes plus the little towns close by. We could not do everything we wanted as we just did not have the time to explore but you would'nt be bored. I think the one thing for me was the peacefulness that I got. The price was very good as well.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Three of us were at the cottage for a week, and that wasn't long enough! We found everything to be as described and the location was ideal for our stay. There were so many items on the premises to keep one busy for weeks at a time. The cottage was very homey and clean, and the pictures reflected exactly what you will find. We already recommended this property to dozens of people who inquired as to where we were staying, and quite a few were familiar with the location. Our recommendation is to go into Detroit Lakes during July and August as you will find such a variety of activities and events happening during those two months. And if you are a walleye fish lover, we can recommend either the Fireside or Hotel Shoreham for this delight.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Whether a "girls getaway" or a family gathering, you will find this property offers many welcome surprises during your stay. The shed contains many of the "extras" for outdoor fun, while the living room of the cabin has many puzzles and games for your use. These guests found a great place to "catch" their Walleye in Detroit Lakes, but for those of you who like to catch yours just a little fresher will find the fishing for Sunfish, Crappie, Bass, Walleye, Musky and Northern all very good in spring-fed Eagle Lake.

Good location, nearby activites were good; cabin was clean and well maintained; owner helpful.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.
Owner response: We have contracted with a professional cleaning service that not only cleans the cabin and the grounds, but they also sanitize all counter tops, mirrors, shower surfaces, commodes and floors in the bathrooms and kitchen, plus dust and vacuum the entire house to make sure it is welcoming and clean for the next guests.

Wonderful, comfortable cabin and quiet lake! Friendly, helpful neighbors. In our opinion, the listing description was spot-on. We experienced eagle sightings, loon conversations, and big fish (lunker bass and panfish) right off the dock. Relaxing hammock naps balanced the swimming and boating fun. We will definately be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Glad to hear the guests had a good time. We too have had the same experience with friends and family by using the property as a meeting location: Mom & dad stayed in their camper with a lakeside "site", others have camped on the property. With the canoe and 200 ft of lakeshore, it makes fishing/swimming feel like you have the lake to yourself.

About the owner: Hello! We are Nathan and Stacey Schwendeman. We were both born and raised in Minnesota, and grew up playing on the Minnesota lakes and rivers. As adults, we now know the value of this precious resource and wanted our own little slice of heaven on one of the many beautiful waterfront properties Minnesota has to offer. Knowing that this resource is meant to share, we wanted to open our vacation property to you, fellow VRBO travelers. We have used VRBO in the past and have been very pleased with the quality of homes and caliber of people we meet. We wish to live up to the same standards. Please feel free to call or write with any questions you may have.
Why the Owner Chose Detroit Lakes:
After many years of looking, we knew we wanted to purchase property in the Detroit Lakes area due to the natural beauty of the area (so many lakes with great fishing, swimming, boating camping and hiking – all our favorites!). Then it was just a matter of finding the right property on the right lake – A lake that wasn't too busy, or too small - so that you could enjoy good fishing and boating. Eagle Lake was just the right size!
This property also allows us to put some 'roots' back in our home state, and is a great place to gather with family. It is only a 45-minute drive from Fargo Regional Airport, which provides a quick connection to and from Chicago O'Hare and Minneapolis/St.Paul airports. The drive to the Twin Cities is easily made in 5 hours, and offers scenic views of the farms, lakes and country side.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This is our vacation home, not a commercial property. We spend our summer weeks here as well, so please be our guests and make yourself comfortable. We enjoy the calming atmosphere of great views across the lake out to the island. Many mornings have been spent on the dock with a cup of hot coffee or hot chocolate just listening to the sounds of the lake.
We also enjoy the time we spend in Frazee and Detroit Lakes. There is always a great place on the 'mile-long' beach of Big Detroit Lake to eat, meet or just people watch. The many city parks offer a fun place for the kids to play while you have a picnic.
We often add items to the cabin or property, which adds to the enjoyment of our guests. If you find the house is missing something, please let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate your needs.
Hope to hear from you soon - The lake is calling.
