Its unspoilt natural beauty is complimented by magnificent villas, exotic formal gardens and centuries-old villages set on quaint cobbled streets. Shaped like a Y, Lake Como is 46 km long. The main city is Como and along the lake’s shore there are many charming villages including Bellagio, Lenno, Varenna, Tremezzo and our village, Cernobbio. The region has been inhabited since prehistoric times, but became important only under the Roman Empire, due to its strategic geographic location. Over 2000 years ago, the Romans used the lake as their favoured retreat. The first recorded settlement was in 49BC, when Julius Caesar populated it with 5000 “colonists” and named the lake “Larius”. The most famous sons of Como are the two Plinys – Pliny the Elder, author of the celebrated Natural Hist

Every season offers something special in the region and in our town. During summer the lake is the focus with boating, swimming and lots of festivals and concerts from May through to October including the Festival Lago di Como. Summer nights are warm and light till late - and everyone is out enjoying a fabulous meal and a late “passeggiata”. Autumn is the season of colours where the wonderful woods and gardens of the lake and surrounding valleys take on their orange, yellow and red hues. Festivals are everywhere – celebrating chestnuts, pumpkins and even witches! A morning of hiking, walking in the woods or mountain biking.

my husband, a longtime friend and i spent a memorable week in the colonno apartment and found it to be everything as described. we drove from milano to colonno and had no problems finding the flat as rosie's directions were detailed and really helped us as it got dark while we were driving. we had such a good time and julia, rosie's neighbor, was so helpful with instructions to the grocery, where to eat with the Italians and anything else we needed. thank goodness she mentioned Downton Abbey as we are great fans and were able to watch it on the english channels. the views of the lake were spectacular and we were treated to seeing the Alps turn white with their first snowfall! the beds were super comfortable and we found everything to be clean and tidy. thank you for the coffee maker as we used it every day. it was late october when we visited and although the weather was a bit nippy, we were always warm and comfortable in the apartment. we would all return if time allows us too. we enjoyed menaggio and shopping there and in bellagio. as we had a car, we drove to lugano one day and also did some sightseeing on our own in como. the drive to milano was less than an hour, but getting around the construction in the city left us breathless several times. we did manage a parking garage close to the Galleria and El Duomo and had a wonderful dinner at Biffi's in the Galleria. like i said we had great time and you will too if you decide to visit.

My husband and I were attracted to this apartment because of the views pictured on the website, as well as its location. We decided to "splurge" and it was well worth it. It was even more impressive when we arrived--gorgeous views from every room in a spacious, very well-appointed new apartment. We spent a lovely week there, and at the end of our time wished we could stay for another week. Rosie was very friendly and helpful with information about local resources. We've given glowing reviews to all our friends and highly recommend this apartment to anyone who shares our love of great views and creature comforts.

My husband and 21 year old daughter stayed in this apartment for 1 week the beginning of August. This was our first time renting a vacation apartment and we were all a little nervous about what we would find. I must say we were all VERY pleased! The apartment was very clean, very well stocked with everything thay you would need during your stay. It was like stepping into your own home again, very comfy and just overall had a good feeling. Neighbors were very nice and friendly. Rosemary was there on arrival and upon departure which was great, she showed us around and gave us a few tips about the area. Overall, I rate this apartment a "5" for its location, cleanliness and homey feeling. Our vacation could not have been better! We definitely plan to return someday.
Owner response:Thank you Kurt & Family. for your kind review and I am really pleased you enjoyed your stay. See you again sometime! best regards Rosie.

Our stay in your lovely apartment counldn't have been better! It was exactly as represented in photos and description. The kitchen was exceptional and we had everything we needed -- maybe the addition of a coffee grinder would be nice. We were able to tour the area readily with easy access to the ferry -- don't miss the hike up to the castle in Varonna. The view from the top is incredible. We were quite comfortable even in the several rainy days, one of which we drove into Milan. We are hoping to return for another stay to experience the lovely views. Thanks so much Rosie!
Owner response:Thank you Ken for your kind review...I will have that coffee grinder ready for your next visit. Best Wishes Rosie.

Lovely apartment with great amenities and view. The garage was a special bonus, as was the close location to the Argegno ferry stop. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the evenings on the terrace and view of the lake during dinner. Excellent location for day trips to Bellagio, Menaggio, Cernobbio and Como. We drove into Milan on the weekend for the day with no difficulty. Apartment was new, user friendly and has access to washer/dryer. A wonderful vacation spot, perfect for one or two couples! Thanks, Nancy McCormack

The apartment was better than the pictures. It is new, modern, nicely furnished and the kitchen contains every device imaginable. The bathrooms are well appointed and modern. The views from the terraces were stunning. We rarely ate out because our terrace was so appealing. I would return again and again and recommend it to anyone. The town is quiet but has a coffee shop, small market and restaurant. For anything else, the nearest towns are only a few kilometers away.
Owner response:Thank you Margaret for your kind review, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back again! Rosie.

When we booked this place for a long weekend in late March, we wondered if we were making a big mistake. However, we quickly discovered that our fears were completely unwarranted. The flat is perfectly located, filled with high quality amenities and has the most breathtaking views anyone could hope for. The flat's proximity to the Greenway (walking trail between towns) is a perfect launching place for an evening stroll or a longer excursion. We wish we could have spent more time exploring it. Part of the time we were there, the sun was shining and the sky was blue giving us spectacular scenes everywhere we looked. On the last day, clouds and a light misty rain moved in and the scenes changed but they were every bit as wonderful. We had a great meal at Ristorante Barchetta in Argengo and the manager there helped us negotiate with the airline who lost our luggage. His kindness and the fabulous food helped us ease into "vacation mode" on our first night. The croissants and coffee at Cafe Columbo were also an excellent beginning each morning. This flat was our favorite part of our trip. We will definitely be back!
Owner response:Thank you John for your kind words...I'm really pleased your enjoyed your 'last minute' escape and I look forward to welcoming you and Julie back soon. Regards Rosie.

Everything we read and researched about the area being a beautiful place to visit was made even better by staying at your villa. It was just the right size, the location is perfect as we were able to easily get to anywhere we wanted , the views of Lake como with a full moon and the ferrys going back and forth will forever be etched in our minds.
Owner response:Thank you Del. It certainly is a magical place! Rosie.
