Highly recommended for a comfortable at-home style stay on the west side. The place is very roomy, clean, and well maintained with a separate entrance. The owners were very friendly and helpful throughout my nearly two week stay. Located in a nice suburban neighborhood up above Hanapepe, the unit has a great private view of the Hanapepe valley below. Kitchen was well provisioned with basic cookware plates and utensils including some spices, everything for basic cooking. Plenty of towels and other supplies including soap and shampoo. WIreless internet connection was excellent.

I just spent Thanksgiving with my 2 little brothers here and we enjoyed it thoroughly. There is plenty of sleeping rooms and the beds are very comfortable. The view is also very beautiful. I would highly recommend staying here. I myself am returning in June next summer. It's close to the beach and many other wonderful sites to see as well.

My sis and I were very comfy here. Chose this central island location for accessibility to all beaches. We wanted a local feel rather than a tourist feel, and were able to cook our own meals nicely. Must be able to go down a flight of stairs to the entrance. The view is spectacular of the valley, white birds floating down..Owner's were very helpful, I would recommend this property to everyone looking for a local experience(Filipino lady next door was sweeping the dirt, as they do.) This island is AWESOME and can't wait to return! Bring your own GPS. Nearby beaches Glass Beach and Salt Pond were nice, but there are better on the island. 2 factories in the town of Hanapepe not to miss are Kauai Kookies and Taro Ko chips. Have a blast!

I have stayed in a fair share of my VRBOs. But this one is located on the rural side of the island just a few miles from the Waimea Canyon. This worked well as our family plan was to hike several different trails in Kokee during our stay and we wanted to be close to the canyon. It was a very large space for our family of four to stay in. It is located below the owners house on top of a cliff looking into Hanapepe Valley. It had a full kitchen with micro, and full size refrigerator which we all know is plus when traveling with teenagers. The owner operates one of those Napali Coast tour boats. They gave us a huge discount of the regular fare if we were willing to go stby should someone cancell at the last minute. The boat tour was the highlight of our stay. It gave a different perspective to this beautiful island. We saw dolphins and all types of marine life. There is a nice beach about 1 mile down the road from the place. But, it is a steep hill to walk so I recommend the 3 min car drive down the hill. The sleepy Hanapepe town comes to life every Friday night which we able to take in twice during our stay. If your looking for place on the westside of the island and having lots of room to spread out without all the frills this is the place. I would recommend this place to any other family traveling as a group of 3 or 4.

My husband and I stayed this rental for a week. Owner is very kind and gave us a lot of info of Kauai Island. Especially the wife is open-heart, cheerfully/Japanese, husband is local who have a tourist business at Kauai Island, so we could have much information at Kauai from them. This house is located on the famous Hanapepe Valley; you can enjoy the beautiful view from window of the living room. At back yard, bird is visiting in the early morning and if you are lucky, you can see wild pig outside of the fence. Poipu Beach is in 15 min by car, Salt Pond Beach is in 3 min, local grocery supermarket and Burger king in 5 min. You definitely need to have car at Kauai Island, so this location is very convenience. Also you will able to feel local and nature. This was our second visited, we had extremely time. I strongly recommend this rental.

Owner response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. My renters being satisfied and happy with their rental experience is paramount to me. I'm happy that you were pleased with your rental experience and I truly hope to have you back again. Mahalo! Mayumi

The first time I stayed in this rental I loved it, not only was the owner nice but she would help with any questions I had. In my opinion the view is a feeling of “Aloha” and happiness that fills you up to the brim, making you smile from your soul. The Area is fantastically away from the city and there is always a breeze keeping you cool. The rental was very clean and cozy. I enjoyed walking and meeting new people. I hope to always stay at this location when I travel to Kauai. Thank you for the wonderful experience of renting the downstairs of your lovely house. :)

This rental was in a residential area quite far from the beach (up a huge hill, across the highway). The view included a chain link fence and a cinder block wall. I think the view pictured is a view from the upstairs of the house. The owner was very nice when we met her, but we elected not to stay at the property once we saw it, even though it meant forfeiting the money we had paid for the rental.

Owner response: We are very sorry for the confusion. Our property is located on a cliff looking out over the Hanapepe Valley. That would necessitate the step road leading up to the property. It is less than 2 miles to the Salt Pond Beach Park from the property. On the Westside of Kauai we don't have the shopping malls and hotels like Princeville, Kapaa and Poipu. We are the country side of the island, with long sparsely occupied beaches and the gateway city to Waimea Canyon. West Kauai lodging is not like staying in a hotel. We try to give the feeling of living local, at not so touristy. The view from is the same from above and below. The fence visible from the property is to protect ourselves and guests from falling over the cliff. The beautiful Hanapepe Valley view is something that we are very proud. We will explore the options of increasing the visibility without compromising safety of our guests. For many years now, we have taken pride in offering a great valve for our guests wishing to stay on the Westside of Kauai, away from the tourist sections of the island, and to experience the local life style. We are truly sorry for this couple's reason for canceling their stay with us, but we as always continue to try and improve the experience for our guests.
