About this property

West Shore Winter Wonderland!

Greetings!

As the owner and host, it is my pleasure to say hello and introduce you to my property:

This lovely custom carriage chalet style private residence is nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains and situated in the state of California, USA. It is a two bedroom, two full bath, 2 story, approximately 2,000 SQFT, 1650 living space, large corner lot about 6,300 SFT with a vast lawn, decks, patios, furniture, outdoor spa/BBQ area.

The "Mountain Air House" is the larger unit including living room, kitchen, full bath, and dining room on the first floor - with a master queen suite and deck up a short carpeted stairway to the second floor. Step out the front door to a beautiful large stone patio and gorgeous grounds.

Just across the beautifully detailed breezeway, is the "Fir Top Studio" with its own private entrance; queen bed, full bath, walk-in closet, sitting/eating counter and French doors out to a small deck - many lovely appointments, a 1.5 finished car garage and laundry room on the first floor.

The "Full" Chalet (Mountain Air House & Fir Top Studio) sleeps 4 comfortably or 5 (one adult the double pull out in living room or two small children) so sharing the Mountain Air House suite; county vacation rental license allows 8 so this would require fold-and-go bed(s) and/or floor space at additional lodging costs.

Offering mountain elegance with French and European ambiance, this home has many of the conveniences of a high-end hotel with the coziness and privacy of a romantic hideaway - yet very reasonably priced. Located on Lake Tahoe’s Magical West Shore, between the North and South shores, Chalet de Huttlinger is proudly offered as a short term luxury rental where your experience can range from a bustling shopping spree, great dining, casino gaming, and downhill first-class ski action; or just stay in, relax, enjoy a fire, movie and a fabulous therapeutic spa.

Located in Tahoma, home of the 1960 Cross Country Ski Olympics, we welcome guests drawn to beautiful surroundings, stunning seasons, first class amenities and a desire for privacy. As guests of the chalet, you will enjoy association privileges including beach, pier and buoy field just minutes away. This renowned vacation destination area offers unlimited enjoyment and relaxation year round including: snow skiing at Homewood Mountain Resort with spectacular lake views (10 minutes door to chair), hiking, rafting, camping, biking, golfing, meditating, swimming, boating, water skiing, reading, bird watching, dancing, dining, and casino gaming, fishing and snorkeling – just minutes walking or driving from the property. Truly something for everyone and then some!

You will be amazed at the beaches, trails, rivers, lakes and many state parks to visit and explore just blocks from the property along and beyond West Lake Blvd (Highway 89). Easy drives north to additional world class skiing at Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley and Northstar-at-Tahoe; Sugar Pine State Park is a 5 minute walk from the breakfast table; Meeks Beach & Trailhead is five minutes south by car and offers a great beach, swimming, boat launch and hiking. Down the road about 20 minutes you will have pristine and stunning views of Emerald Bay and Vikingsholm State Park where you can enjoy a 2.2 mile hike to Eagle Falls (with many more accessible falls within 30 miles)...proceeding to Fallen Leaf Lake and Camp Richardson Resort. Casino gaming and night entertainment awaits you about 40 minutes into South Lake Tahoe from the chalet. One of the most beautiful views of the lake is this drive along 89 as you cruise from the west shore into the South Shore.

To ease your arrival, our well maintained interstate system, accessible Lake Tahoe Basin roads, well snow plowed neighborhood and lake level highway access, 45 minutes from Reno/Tahoe International Airport, a few hours from San Jose, San Francisco Bay, Sacramento airports, help make it a convenient visit to our “Tresor de lac Tahoe!” With a little planning on your end, we will strive to provide an exquisite experience and memorable stay. You will love it!

Warmly,
Corinne Huttlinger

About the host

A Bay Area native, years long weekend warrior skier, put a stake in the ground and became a champion of the Magical West Shore!

Recruited by our very own Marie Sluchak, served on the board of Tahoe Cedars Property Owners in Tahoma for several years working on many programs including: development of the West Shore - Best Shore and The West Shore is the Best Shore trademarks, formalizing the long held affectionate reference; original branded chrome and black bear paw license plate frames - now a collector's item!

We have a 30 + year established El Dorado County dog leashing and licensing ordinance - safety and well being of dogs and citizens is top of mind. By raising awareness, working with El Dorado County Animal Control, we have been able to eliminate the large packs of dogs that ran wild in the streets without consequence. Streets are now safer, the community is as well. If you see a dog on leash, say thanks!

Have supported bear protections obtaining funding for aversion efforts that encourage bears to go back into the forest without harm. As a champion of the west shore I know we can continue to improve the quality of life and understanding between part time, full time homeowners and tourists.

Extensive banking and payments career focused on leadership in organizational development, processing, consulting. BA and MA from St. Mary's College. I love France and as a Francophile, hope to live there someday and immerse myself in the language and culture. Have huge black male 11 year old IntCH Bouvier des Flandres 'Handsome Hutt' who is my companion and best buddy!

Why they chose this property

This project was a rebuild and new construction finishing in 2004. A labor of love! Like a lot of Bay Area folks, the weekend warrior trips got old, the driving, time, and traffic so I decided to create my own space, and it sort of took on a life of its own.

After ten years, with all the positive feedback and interest I decided it was time to share it! Come on by - there is no place like it - great price too for the bundle of amenities, conveniences, quality and beauty of the property inside and out, central location, access to lake and the Homewood Ski Mountain just minutes away! AND the best HOST and Concierge. We make VRBO look great!

What makes this property unique

Chalet de Huttlinger won the 2009-2010 Garden Glove Award this year for Tahoe Cedars Tahoma, so the very large yard, lawn and blooming flower boxes and urns, sitting areas and having the various little squirrles, chipmunks, (sometimes Black Bears) and the many birds that sail in are reminders of the beauty of nature all around just by stepping right outside the door or onto deck. You will love it!
