Start with what Frommer’s Guide says are Sapphire Beach’s “Jawdropping Views”. And you won't get closer to the water than this listing unless you rent a boat.
Add the taste of two New York designers whose clients, past and present, include Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, Giorgio Armani. Vintage bamboo furniture with white upholstery, blue and white Chinese porcelains, white tile floors and a framed collection of 1940's black and white sailing photos. With the key component of total privacy from passersby or neighbors, and the luxury of enough space to allow you to catch some quiet moments completely to yourself.
A two level duplex with connecting mahogany staircase, each level with it's own terrace, floor to ceiling 14 foot wide walls of glass with unmatchable views and pure white curtains pulled to the sides. From inside the apartment, you will not see anything but turquoise and sapphire blue water - as if you are sailing on an ocean liner with your own balconies. The photos tell the story.
Downstairs, a comfortable living room with an optional sleeping couch and armchair, an outdoor dining table for up to 6, a desk and bureaus. Sliding mahogany doors can separate your kitchen area. A downstairs bathroom comes complete with two-sink vanity and shower. Generous baskets filled with luxurious Polo beach towels.. Large new flatscreen cable tv with dvd, video and all channels. A Bose dock for your ipod.
Outside on the 11 X 14 foot terrace, banquettes and chaises lounges with total privacy. No one looking down from balconies above you or up from the beach below, allows morning to midday sunbathing with total privacy. The downstairs terrace has a tropical mosquito net to allow sleeping outdoors in the moonlight if you wish to really live out your island fantasy. Outdoor breakfast/lunch tables for four. Oiled louvered tropical wood side walls add the luxury of Caribbean style. Constant cooling tradewind breezes.
Upstairs, the Master Suite at the top of the mahogany stairs is crowned with a 18 foot high cathedral ceiling. Hurricane lamps, white ceiling fan, vintage bamboo furniture, tropical wood doors, blue and white Chinese porcelains and upholstery, a black and white vintage sailing image gallery, and a huge king size bed to get lost in. Second flatscreen tv, dvd, video. Another wall of floor to ceiling glass with extraordinary views of the British Virgin Islands, St. John and the Cays, not to mention the turquoise and sapphire water of your imagination and the covers of travel magazines.
Each evening, open a great bottle of wine, tax free in the USVI, go out on the upstairs terrace to watch the sunset coloring the clouds and the moonrise over British Tortola. After dark, light the candles inside and on the terraces, turn off the lights, and sit listening to the waves below. Watch the lights glittering on the islands, the ferries going to and from Cruz Bay, the glow of the restaurants at Caneel Bay, a million stars above you. Bliss.
Everything that you could wish to do will be waiting for you each morning. Swimming on your half mile sugar white beach in turquoise water. Snorkeling on the reefs directly under your terraces. Sunning on your terrace chaises or by the magnificently sited fresh water pool. Reading in the shade of the palm trees. Wandering the docks of the marina looking at yachts and talking to the fishermen back with their day’s catch. The E building is at the quiet end of the resort, with it's own beach, and perfectly oriented views. No noise from the pool, or crowds of tourists. Ever. A true escape.
FREE snorkeling, wind surfing, kayaking equipment, beach chairs are all pre-paid for at the Watersports Pavilion down the beach. Plus scuba diving classes for low fees. At Sapphire’s Marina, literally downstairs from the E Building, are everything from Jet Skis, Parasailing, Catamaran Cruises to Jost Van Dyke and legendary White Bay with The Soggy Dollar Bar, Sportfishing for marlin and whatever else you desire to fish, Powerboat day rentals, even Day Sails on Yachts if your wallet allows.
Day trips to St John to Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Hawks Nest Beach are minutes away at the Redhook Ferry. You have no need to rent a car the week you stay with us. Day rentals of jeeps are available for $60.00,delivered to you downstairs in the morning. You can visit all of St Thomas’s favorite sites. The beautiful Danish colonial town of Charlotte Amalie, with its shady Royal Palm Passage offers you hours of wonderful shopping with world famous bargains in jewelry, watches and liquor. There are fantastic restaurants within 5 to 10 minutes in Redhook, our one-mile-away village with shops, markets, bars, restaurants, and ferries, or on the list we provide you of our own personal picks.
You will be met at the airport by our good friend Smitty, who is an islander who knows a lot more about St Thomas than I ever will. He will take you to Sapphire and on the way show you some of the sights, including Drake's Seat with it's magnificent views of the islands, then a stop at Marina Market for supplies where he will wait for you and then bring you "home".
Your Caribbean Hideaway is for a couple who want a feeling of casual luxury at the beach with the traditional feel of the elegant easy going Old Caribbean. If you want quiet, privacy and space, with some style thrown in, if you don't want to cook, eat, and sleep, in the same room, then this beautiful two floor duplex is just the place to chill and to restore your spirit. We truly love kids, but this just is NOT the place for them. NO exceptions for anyone under 21.
This is a quiet, low key, casually elegant retreat for adults to savor.

Why the Owner Chose Sapphire Beach Resort & Marina
We were stunned when we saw Sapphire Beach for the first time. Beverly and my daughter discovered that the "hotel" was in fact condominiums. The search was on. We located the 4 ideal units we wanted to buy, and then waited until E-304 became available. Why did we do it? I was so tired of staying in the "not best" rooms in hotels and resorts. I wanted to feel like I finally was staying in the Perfect Rooms with the Perfect View in the Most Beautiful Place. That is how our duplex feels to us and why we are always thrilled to return. No more envy and wishing. Just pure joy.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
The two terraces hang literally 30 feet from the waters edge, so that you feel as if you are floating on a ship in the turquoise and sapphire sea. The duplex works wonderfully with two bathrooms, no sharing or waiting to shower. With two floors, there is privacy for you whenever you want it. You can find a place to read while your partner watches tv or sleeps in...perfect to really rest and recharge. The upstairs wood ceiling is 17'-6"" high and that feels like the real Old Caribbean to us. Space, height, and privacy are the true luxuries of your Caribbean Hideaway.
Located on our own quiet beach between the pool and marina. Ours is the only building sited to face directly toward the British Virgins and St. John. We are in the center of the building.
Fantastic reviews. Our favorite. A 5 minute $5.00 cab ride from Sapphire. Amazing "jungle" setting. For dessert, don't miss the snowball. Reservations.
On the beach, open all day,the best hot dogs you will ever eat, grilled grouper sandwiches, caesarsalads, iced beer, mixed drinks. Ordering 'To Go' for our terrace is perfect.
A short 200 yard walk up the hill from us in Sapphire Village. An easy poolside restaurant convenient when you don't want to leave the property for dinner. Food is good, not really a rave.
A half mile walk from Sapphire to the passenger ferry. Hop over to Cruz Bay for dinner,or catch a cab to Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay - the two most magnificent beaches on St John. The ride alone is gre

If you love a Local Hangout, this is the place to discover. Amazing live music, moderate prices, cold beer, mixed drinks. Perfect place to chill out. Use OFF.

My wife and I are both designers living in New York City. My family has had a home in St Thomas for over 50 years up on Crown Mountain in Caret Bay. Beverly and I fell in love with Sapphire during a visit to Saint Thomas, and took two years to locate and buy what we thought was the perfect condo. We have been renovating and improving it ever since. We provide our guests with Airport pickups and drop-offs which saves on time and money, 90.00 per couple. We also provide free snorkeling, kayak and windsurfing equipment at the Watersports Center and beach chair services.

We have stayed in many different condos on Sapphire (the best beach in St. Thomas) because our son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren live there. We feel that we have now found a home away from home and will stay at this fabulous condo every trip. There are wonderful design details, great colors and the view is amazing!

We just spent a wonderful week at Peter´s and Beverly´s appartment. It´s so special. It was wonderful going directly to the beach or just sitting on the terrace. We really loved it so much and – after exploring the island – we decided that Sapphire is the best place on the whole isle. The appartment ist wonderful – it´s so tasteful and cosy and you feel comfortable from the first moment you enter. If we have a chance to come to STT again – we really wouldl like to stay her again.

We recently stayed at Peter and Beverly's condo at Sapphire Beach. I felt it was important to write a review considering how much research I did before our vacation and before I found this condo. The condo is exactly like the pictures and even more beautiful in person. Nothing beats the downstairs terrace and having breakfast in the morning looking into the ocean. Location was great and you felt like you were a guest in someone's home. Sapphire Beach was beautiful and had some of the best snorkeling right outside our door! It is also beautifully decorated and all the personal touches made it feel even more special. Peter was extremely informative and helpful before the trip giving various suggestions for day trips and places to eat. I highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a romantic getaway and we can't wait to go back!!!

My husband and I stayed here for our Honeymoon in October 2011. We missed our connecting flight into the island and was stranded in San Juan for a couple of hours, but what better place to be stranded, since we go to San Juan ever year, we made the best of it and shopped and had a nice lunch at Raices. But moving on. Sam is the nicest and most informative person...simply the best. I am a very finicky about where I stay. Doesn't have to be a 5 star place...but clean and comfortable. The condo is EXACTLY how the pictures depict. Even better in person. Peter and Beverly do an excellent job in keeping it up. Groceries on the island are very expensive. Most condiments may already be in the condo (mayo, jelly, etc.) If you do go shopping I would concentrate on breakfast and 1 or 2 snacks, maybe some lunchmeat. That's it. You must visit Duffy's Love Shack, we had a great time there. Order the "Shark Tank" and the burges are great! Red Hook is a nice place to visit for lunch/dinner...plenty of place to chose from. Shopping in Charlotte Amalie was great. It gets pretty crowed when cruise ships are in town. It's a ghost town when there are none and you may be able to get a slightly better bargain. In Charlotee we had lunch at Glady's which was yummy. People also suggested Cuzzin's but we didnt get a chance to go. We also went to Paradise Point...whre the views are a must see. We took a taxi up (which was an adventure within itself!!...VERY steep hills) and then the tram back down...another adventure. On Wednesday nights, they have a live band. Food was good. While there you MUST take a day trip (or 2) to St. John and visit Trunk Bay Beach...absolutely AMAZING! It took my breath away. Overall we had a great stay at the condo. It had everything that we could possibly need, cookware, bar, sun hats, beach towels, off spray, everything. I hope you get the chance to enjoy this condo as much as we did!

We vacationed to St. Thomas for the first time in Feburary of this year and stayed at Peter's condo. We fell in love with it so much that we came back 8 months later! Peter makes you feel like you are truely at home and provides you with the most detailed information regarding everything you would ever need to make your stay the best stay ever! The condo is amazingly beautiful and the view, ambiance, and atmosphere are unbelievable! I have had the pleasure of vacationing at almost every single Carribean island and nothing compares to this view, peacefullness, and relaxation. Every single morning we enjoyed coffee on the terrace as we watched the sun rise, and every single evening in the same spot with a nice glass of wine watching the sun set. Truely amazing view that words cannot describe. We enjoyed a day trip to the BVI's (Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Gorda) and to St. John USVI. Nothing beats Soggy Dollar Bar at White Bay Jost Van Dyke! Just an amazing trip that you must do while you enjoy your stay. Take the "Breakaway" or the "DayDreamer" day trip to the BVI's....both are great. DayDreamer is a catermaran sailboat and Breakaway is a powerboat. Both amazing trips. I highly reccomend taking "New Horrizons" sail boat dinner cruise....amazing! Snorkeling out front of the condo is absolutly amazing! We saw Stingrays, Sea Turtles, and millions of other beautifully collered fish. Oh and did I mention the small beach direcly in front of the condo is your own private beach....no one is ever there. Sapphire Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Once your there, you'll never want to go back to the "Real Life". This condo is truely amazing. Peter makes your stay feel like home and you really couldn't ask for a more peacefull and relaxing place to enjoy your vacation. We intend to make a repeating 8 month visit and stay at this condo every trip. AMAZING! Thank you Peter!!!!!

My wife and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary at Peter and Beverly's place. It was perfect. The condo was beautiful and had everything we needed for our weeks stay. We made our own breakfast and lunches with a few dinners thrown in. The kitchen was very well stocked. There really is nothing better than having your breakfast and coffee while sitting out on the patio. Weather was gorgeous and the trade winds blowing in made the days very comfortable. We just fell in love with the condo. Building E has a great view of the marina, St. John in the distance and the pool area to the left. The beach is a little rocky in front of the building but it makes for outstanding snorkeling. We saw turtles, rays, squid and so many fish is was amazing. We are already talking about making a return trip next year and will definitely reserve Peter and Beverly's place again.

You don't want to stay anywhere else on St. Thomas! If you think the pictures look nice, wait until you see it in person! Sapphire Beach truly is the best beach on the island. You have everything you could want right there minus the throngs of tourists. The water is crystal clear blue and the sand is soft. We went snorkeling and saw sea turtles, squid and some fish. You can have lunch on the beach or in the condo. As for the condo, I'm kind of picky about where I stay and I wasn't disappointed! It's beautifully and tastefully decorated and has the best location on the beach. It's peaceful and quiet and if you want more action, you just walk a little ways down the beach and there you are! Peter is an amazing host and one of the best I've encountered on VRBO. He provided tons of helpful information and advice prior to our trip, which made everything go smoothly. If you're looking for a place to stay, you won't do any better than here!

That's a quote from a plaque on the wall on the upper level of this wonderful place...and it's oh! so true. We're not going to repeat all the raves of others--we agree with everyone who's enjoyed this hideaway before us. Peter and Beverly have left a pair of binoculars on one of the little tables in the living room. How thoughtful! It's fun to use them to watch the boats and look across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Sitting on either balcony with the lapping of bay waters on the shore and the thrum of ferries between St. Thomas and St. John; sunset, dusk and nightfall are absolutely heavenly. Having a husband who chefs, breakfasts every day out there are great. Both the umbrellas and the beach bags hanging on the pegs in the hall came in handy. There are caps and hats, too, if the sun's too much and you forgot yours. We are veteran time-sharers so having the kitchen was perfect--and better than timeshares, there were various condiments in the cupboard and things like ketchup, mustard and salad dressing in the refridge--check out what previous folks might have left before you buy those kind of things at the market (they are pricey!). Our trip to St. Thomas was actually planned around taking day sails. There are many charters available at Red Hook and we'd highly recommend Capt. Pat and her 44 foot ketch, the Independence. Check it out at www.independence44.us. (Darn, we wish it would link with a click.) Pat and Ray take up to six folks and allow for a couple hours of snorkeling for those who wish to do that. We had told Pat we just want to sail-sail-sail and that's just what we did, all day, on two separate days. The food she and Ray prepare in that tiny galley is fresh and delicious. If you are interested in a half day or full day sail with two long time sailors, you won't be disappointed with a day on the Independence. The resort itself is not exactly first-class and could use some maintenance, but we didn't care. Peter and Beverly's hideaway is fantastic and the beach and view couldn't be better. We'll not bother to visit any more Caribbean islands...we've found our island "home!" Bruce and Susy

I researched more than 10 different Caribbean islands before I decided to rent from Peter and Beverly on St. Thomas. I had some pretty specific criteria for which I was looking: 1) The condo had to be right on the beach so that the full effect of the sounds of the waves could be easily heard from the condo; 2) The view from the condo needed to be as close to 180 degrees of the ocean as you could get. 3) The beach needed to have good snorkeling. 4) The beach needed to have great sand. I did not want rocks for a beach. 5) I wanted the condo complex to be medium to small in size. I did not want to compete for space on the beach with hundreds of other people from high-rise hotels or condos. 6) I wanted the condo to be modern with updated furnishings. Peter and Beverly’s condo met all of these criteria. In fact, out of all of the Caribbean islands I researched, their condo was the only one to meet all of these criteria. I was being very picky because my wife and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and I wanted to do everything I could to ensure that we were going to like where we were staying and would have a wonderful time. Prior to arriving Peter sent us information on many of the local restaurants. His recommendations were very helpful in deciding where to go to eat. We also really liked getting picked up at the airport and then returned at the end of the stay. On the way to the condo when we first arrived we were able to stop and do some initial grocery shopping. It was also very convenient to rent a car. There is a Budget rental location at the complex next to Building “A”. Be sure to reserve a car ahead of time. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we would go back again.

Peter and Beverly's condo is the best on Sapphire Beach, by far. It is on the quieter end of Sapphire, which was perfect for us. We spent every evening on the beautifully appointed balcony, just listening to the waves and smelling the clean ocean air. It is also the perfect place to eat breakfast and start the day. The condo was in a great location, near Red Hook, where the ferry boats are, and many good restaurants. The decor was very nicely done and had a warm, inviting atmosphere. Having the second level with the second balcony made it all the more perfect. We had a great experience here!
Owner response:Very pleased to hear Keith refer to our place as Home Away from Home......exactly what we had hoped to have it feel like for our guests.
