HISTORIC CENTER Excellent studio apartment when historic center location and affordability are top priorities.
AFFORDABLE STUDIO IN HISTORIC MEDIEVAL CENTER Camerata is situated right in the Medieval area of the city centre, on Via dei Cerchi, by the Signoria square, surrounded by Florence’s famous museums, monuments, churches, luxury shops, restaurants, theatres, cinemas, discotheques, markets, bars, and café‘s. It is an inexpensive retreat in the middle of Florence’s historic downtown streets, with the added benefits of a kitchen, washing machine, bathroom, Internet, and a view of Florence’s roof tops.
PALAZZO VECCHIO NEIGHBORHOOD Just outside the building’s front door to the right is the Palazzo Vecchio (Florence Romanesque Town Hall). There is a fruit business and a coffee shop right in front, “Il Buongustai” (a small wine bar and osteria that serves all the Tuscan classics at unbeatable prices) and a tiny grocery store (“alimentari”) next door; and several local stores, the best pizza place in town (il forno), and the back entrance to a modern shopping mall.
STUDIO IN MEDIEVAL CENTER TOWER Once the tower of one of the medieval Cerchi family palaces, the bankers of the Medici family, the tower’s access to the palace was blocked to create 1 to 2 apartments per half floors.
AIR CONDITIONED WITH A VIEW Camerata is an air conditioned studio located on the 3rd ½ floor (this is called the 2 ½ floor in Italy), with 2 large antique “door” windows that overlook an internal breeze way from where Florence’s roof tops can be viewed.
SLEEPING ACCOMODATIONS The Studio has a double sized bed with a rolling narrow table that crosses the bed horizontally so that you can eat / work in bed, use it as a head board, or make the bed a sofa!
The living/dining area has a seat that converts into a single bed for guests, faced by a leaf dining table that sits 4 people; the TV is on a wall swivel and can be seen from the bed area or living/dining area.
YOUR VACATION STUDIO LAYOUT It is visually divided by long velvet draperies that give it privacy from the living/dining area. Two wardrobes give you enough space to release your luggage and the ample window-doors fill the room with subtle natural light all day long.
As you enter Camerata a replica of Klimt’s “The Kiss”, created by a local Florentine artist with pieces of leaves and flower petals from Florence’s surroundings greets you, and two locally-designed olive fronds candelabra sit at each side ready to be lit during the evening.
COZY BATHROOM AND KITCHEN The Studio has a cozy bathroom with shower, and a private small kitchen with a 2 burner electric stove, toaster, under-the-counter refrigerator an Italian-style coffee pot, and a washer. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans and has an additional storage area.
RESERVE TODAY If you want to be in the middle of Historic Florence, in an small apartment with all the amenities for a short or long-term stay, and all the sites within a few minutes’ walk, Camerata is a great choice.

Florence’s International Airport, Amerigo Vespucci (FLR), is located in the Peretola area about 20 minutes drive (4 km) to the Historic Center. Two options to reach the apartment:
1) Taxi from the airport – My recommendation as taking the bus would leave you at the Santa Maria Novella railway station, from where you would have to walk with your luggage an additional 15 to 20 mins through cobblestone streets to the apartment.
2) Bus to the Central Railway Station – The Busitalia SITA Nord Vola in Bus bus shuttle operates between the airport and the central railway station of Santa Maria Novella. It takes 20 minutes, sometimes a little more if there is heavy traffic. The service runs daily, including Sundays and holidays.
GETTING TO FLORENCE BY TRAIN
The city main railway station is Firenze Santa Maria Novella (Firenze SMN), situated in the city centre. It is open from 4.15 a.m. to 1.30 a.m. For timetables and more information, visit www.trenitalia.it/ Camerata is 5 minutes’ drive/20 minutes’ walk from the station.
GETTING TO FLORENCE BY CAR
If you decide to come to Florence by car, keep in mind that Camerata is located in the Historic Center, within a restricted traffic area called ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato) controlled by a network of video cameras. You will need to park outside of the ZTL and then take a bus, taxi or walk into the restricted traffic area to reach Camerata depending on where you park.
We recommend parking at the central train station Santa Maria Novella. Last time we checked prices were 3,00 euro per hour. 5 day parking pass 160,00 euro.

About: My daughter and I were looking for a place in Italy where we would feel we belonged. We started looking for that place in Florence and fell in love with the medieval historic area around Piazza Signoria, the life style, and how accessible Italy is from the city.
Why Uffizi: We love to be in the middle of everything. And that’s where the Studio is by the Signoria square, a few steps from the Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio; we are surrounded by Florence’s famous museums, monuments, churches, luxury shops, restaurants, theatres, cinemas, discotheques, markets, bars, and café‘s.
