My wife and I have traveled to many beautiful resorts around the world, however our time in guana at Slacktide trumped them all. The combination of the quiet, relaxed atmosphere of the home( which affords you everything and more then what you will need) and the friendly residence and fellow vacationers make this island a unique experience. We will definitively be back and we considered exploring property for ourselves. If you are tired of resort over pampering and rituals, this is a place to visit.

For a 25th Anniversary get-away, we chose this place based on its location, the amenities, and the fact that it had a dock. "Slack Tide" does not disappoint! Of all the properties we have rented in the Abacos, this one is by far the nicest. It was perfect for 2 couples, and could easily handle 1 large family who vacations together. The house is only 4 years old, incredibly well-appointed, and very comfortable. The view onto the Sea of Abaco is stellar as you look across to Foote's Cay. Highly recommend a golf cart as the Orchid Bay development is a distance from the main activities on Guana like Grabbers, Nippers, etc... It is peaceful and provides a great atmosphere for someone wanting to get away from it all!

My family and I rented the Slack Tide house for 1 week in late July of 2011. We were totally blown away by the property. Being a high end builder from Jupiter Florida , I did not expect what we saw when we opened the door to the rental home. The finishes and furnishingbs were totally first class. The interiors were obviously done by a talented interior designer. Not expecting much from a small Bahamian Isalnd, I was totally impressed by the attention to detail at Slack Tide. I whole heartily recommend Slack Tide to the discriminating renter. Dan Reedy. Jupiter. Florida.

If you are planning a vacation to Guana, Slack Tide is the PERFECT place to stay. If you are not planning a vacation to Guana...You should be! I have stayed in a number of rental properties over the years and without a doubt, Slack Tide is the nicest, most relaxing home I have ever visited. From the moment you drive up in your golf cart and are greeted by the lush tropical landscaping, you know you have arrived in paradise! The owners have provided EVERYTHING you could possibly need for a wonderful vacation. Our group consisted of three professional couples in our mid-fifties. Being the chef of the group, I found the kitchen to be fully equipped to prepare gourmet meals every evening, served on the outdoor dining table with seating for six overlooking the Sea of Abaco! The readers in our group found the furnishings to be extremely comfortable to curl up with a good book/Kindle. Those that had to keep in touch with the news back home brought their iPads and had easy access to the internet through Slack Tide's wireless router. The three bedrooms each with their own private bath were very comfortable and very well decorated. The entire house is decorated in a manner that you would not typically find in a "rental" house. I would categorize Slack Tide as a private home that you get to share with Tom and Angie for a memorable slice of time. Each morning we awoke to a most beautiful view overlooking the Sea of Abaco, had breakfast on the porch and planned our day. After a day on the boat island hopping, swimming, fishing, and snorkling we returned each afternoon to the BEST part of Slack Tide...it's own private pool! As we relaxed in the cool fresh water and enjoyed afternoon cocktails, we reflected on that day's adventures and began planning for the next one. I try to vacation in Guana every other year. Without question...Slack Tide will ALWAYS be my "home" on Guana. Tom and Angie, thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! Randy
Owner response:Thanks for all your kind words about Slack Tide. We love Orchid Bay at Guana Cay and are delighted to share this tropical paradise with our guests.

We are from California and had never been to the Bahamas. After communicating with Angie, via email, I felt very comfortable sending her a check for the rental. She was extremely responsive and forthcoming with lots of information. There were just 2 of us, so we were able to spread out in the house and each have our own bedroom/bath. The house and furnishings are very high-end and obviously designer decorated. The kitchen had most everything a serious cook would want and was a joy to work in. A bonus was the high quality tap water made from an RO system. Rarely have we found a rental house with good reading furniture and lighting, but Slack Tide had numerous places to read, inside and out. We're sailors, so we spent alot of time on the dock, under the gazebo, watching the boats and water...felt just like being in the cockpit of our J120 but without the hassle. Probably the biggest highlight for us was the beautiful reef on the ocean side of Guana Cay. It was fast and easy to take the golf cart over there and snorkle whenever we wanted. The aquatic flora was the best I've seen to-date. And the clarity of the water all over the Sea of Abaco was really amazing. Other highlights were walking over to the ocean side every morning to watch the sun rise, eating breakfast at Grabber's and walking the sandbar at Scotland Cay during low tide. The grocery store on Guana Cay was well-stocked, so we didn't have to provision at March Harbour at all. There's also a liquor and drug store on Guana. We rented an 18' Albury boat and explored many of the islands within our cruising range. Man-o-war Cay was my favorite because it has some real history, unique shops and a quaint feel to the town. We aren't anglers (probably the only people there who weren't) and frankly it would be a shame to take anymore fish out of what looked like a depleted fish stock. But that's just my personal opinion. Slack Tide house was a first class property, beautiful inside and out and very well-maintained.

We just spent a wonderful 10 days on Guana Cay staying at Slack Tide in the Orchid Bay development. This home is better than the photos and description. It was the perfect setting for our 10 year anniversary with our two 8 year old daughters. From the moment we pulled up and walked through, everything was perfectly in order and meticulously deceorated in a casual seaside theme. On several occasions, the caretaker would show up to clean the pool, clean up outside, and generally make sure that we had everything we would need for a nice time. Our daughters enjoyed taking the golf cart to the beach pavillion, star gazing at night from the dock, snorkeling on the reefs, kayaking from the dock, swimming in the pool, dancing in the man made beach off the back of the house, and island hopping in our rental boat that we kept at the Orchid Bay Marina. When you need to reconnect with life at home (which we rarely wanted to do), the Wi-Fi and Direct TV work flawlessly. The setting of this home is ideal for those who want to be a 10 minute golf cart ride to the settlement. It was truly a pleasure to have an opportunity to stay in this home, and we will be back....soon!

We had high expectations based upon the description, photos and reviews and Slack Tide even exceeded those expectations. Angie and Tom are to be highly commended for the design and furnishing of their home. They gave us very useful recommendations and provided excellent local support. We particularly enjoyed Nippers Bar on the Atlantic Side and the new Island Flavours cafe on the freight dock in the harbour. Rented a 23' boat from Troy at Dive Guana and toured the adjacent cays. A highlight was Hopetown.
